    Hello
I have a question about connecting a Sony 55xe8577 TV with the PS4 pro console.
the console is hooked up with a hdmi cable to the TV set and an optical cable to the STR-DN860 sony receiver, the television is connected to the console and the receiver (receiver for HDMI input with ARC support).
All TV settings are on automatic and the picture mode on the game.
In the const's settings, everything was also marked automatically.

Consoleat is displayed in the console settings:

    resolution: 3840 x 2160 - 60 Hz
    color format: YUV420
    hdr in your tv: 2K / 4K
    HDCP: 2.2
hdr is only available in 2k resolution. check the TV set-up.

I tried to change game mode settings (change settings for additional functions related to image and color improvement - automatic or completely disabled), I changed the console connection to a TV socket with ARC support and tried several different cables, but still can not use HDR in 4k resolution.

the question is: did sony cut into the shaft and release dedicated TV to the console with limited possibilities (HDR only in 2K), or maybe you need to change the settings elsewhere to use a full-value image.

Rather, it should be HDMI 1.4.

I'm not sure what was added to the console, I will buy a cable in the 2.0 standard and let me know if anything has helped

I checked the connection on the 1.4 cable and continued without any changes. Is it possible that you will need a cable in the 2.0 standard?

it turns out that it is the TV's fault :-(

    info for those interested:

to obtain 4K image quality with HDR it is necessary to meet the following conditions:

    1) you need a HDMI cable in the minimum standard 2.0, the lower one is not able to pass such a big signal (sound + picture + HDR), in my case the cable attached to the console did not meet this requirement even though the manufacturer declares to include such a cable into the set.

    2) ps 4 pro console - video output settings:
    - resolution: 2160p - YUV420
    - RGB range: automatic (recommended)
    - HDR: automatic
    - Deep Color output: automatic

    3) TV settings for the Sony 55xe8577:

    - hdmi image settings where the console is connected:
    picture mode: game
    Advanced settings:
    HDR mode: on,
    HDMI signal range: full,
    color space: BT2020

Saturation, color, black, etc. settings - according to your own needs.

    - external input settings:
    HDMI format: improved format

using such settings information about the video output given by the console:

    - resolution: 3840x2160-60Hz
    - color format: YUV420
    - hdr in your tv: support 2K / 4K
    - hdcp: 2.2

In summary, Sony TV does not fully exploit the capabilities of the ps4 pro console, but this is not the first time this is happening. Better parameters can be obtained on Samsung, but then you have to reckon with the debinding casing and damages to the matrix.

maybe in the future sony will stop playing in ch. with consumers and will introduce some update that will allow you to 100% use the capabilities of the console on this particular model tv

I hope someone will find this information useful.

worth reading - apparently you can damage the console with poorly selected settings in HDR mode

    Theme to refresh.

A few days ago Sony introduced an update for the TV. The menu has changed (there are few settings options). The console in the above mentioned settings gives advice, I checked the settings in the car tying and also you can get hdr from 4k. The TV can not set the automatic color option - you have to set it manually (no auto option) Maybe someone can get a 4K quality image from HDR and in YUV 422 color format.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around connecting a Sony 55XE8577 TV to a PS4 Pro console, specifically regarding HDR functionality at 4K resolution. The user reports that HDR is only available in 2K resolution despite proper connections using HDMI and optical cables. Various troubleshooting steps were taken, including changing HDMI cables and adjusting settings on both the console and TV.
