    Hello to all forum members!

I have recently faced a serious challenge, which is the purchase of a new washing machine. I have decided on the Bosch brand, but I have a huge problem with the choice of a particular model. All this is due to the system of signs of this manufacturer that is completely incomprehensible to me. You can even get lost on his website in a maze of models that practically do not differ ...

I was looking on the internet and here on the forum for systematic designations, but basically in addition to this thread: link I have not found anything more concrete. I know thanks to you that the letter prefix means the country of production and the type of drum (and this is very important information for me), but what about the postfix and the numerical designation?

For example - how do the WAN242 washing machines differ? 6 and WAN242 7 ? Or WAN24 0 6 from WAN24 1 6? How to understand the designation: WAN2424 0 ? Some models have four digits, while others have five in the name, others have an EPL postfix, and other KPL or MPL - does one of your colleagues have more knowledge about it? I would be extremely grateful for any help!

    Greetings,
    Michael.

I looked through it before I created a topic here. No, there is not everything described there. Let's take a look - WAN20140PL and WAN20040PL - according to the tables on page 30 are nothing different. This is the heart of my problem, for which I decided to set up this topic, maybe it will also help others when they decide to buy something from the Bosch stable.

The fact that the fragment of the model means, for example, the available programs, or the method of finishing the front, I guess it and I am fully aware of that, but the question I have mentioned above refers to the systematics - specifically, which number in the name of the model is responsible for the size of the deposit, shelf / series, program variant, equipment (in a sense such as a prefix), finishing and additional options. If I knew this scheme, I would have covered the topic much faster, because I would know which models to look at and which ones to look at. Meanwhile, on the Bosch page, he adds more models to the comparison and they do not differ in any way (usually it is a pre-wash option - as in the example above, or reduction of creases), except for a diametrically different number in the middle part of the name. Kociokwiku you can get ...

Edit: Please look here: link . Like the same model - 2427, it differs postfix - one is EPL and the other is SPL. Effect? 8 kg difference in weight and other water and energy consumption. The rest is identical. Is another laundry team? Which one is better?

    Ot, zagwozdka! ;)

    Greetings,
    Michael.

I do not fully agree with this marking or I do not understand something.
Bosch Washing Machines: Decoding Model Numbers (WAN242, WAN240), Country of Production & Drum Types

The washing machine has the PL marking at the end, I was hoping it would be solid because it was made in Poland, which turned out to be made in Turkey :(

The designation PL indicates only the destination country of the equipment, not the country of production.

What's the difference, where is it put together? Some top BSH models are folded even in China and also go.

Topic summary

The discussion focuses on decoding Bosch washing machine model numbers, specifically the WAN series (e.g., WAN242, WAN240), and understanding the significance of prefixes, numerical designations, and postfixes in model codes. The prefix often indicates the country of production and drum type, which is crucial for buyers. However, the exact meaning of numerical sequences and postfixes related to program variants, equipment, finishing, and series remains unclear. Official Bosch catalogs and external links provide partial explanations, but inconsistencies exist, such as the "PL" postfix indicating the destination country (Poland) rather than the manufacturing location, which can be Turkey or China. Some models like WGG and WGE are confirmed to be produced in Turkey. The discussion highlights the complexity and lack of transparent systematic designation in Bosch washing machine model numbers, complicating informed purchasing decisions.
