    Hello,

I have an Acer Aspire VX 15 laptop with 1TB HDD I want to buy an SSD on Friday / Saturday. The laptop is new and to be honest I do not even know how to format it. I know it has recovery partition. And here are my two questions:
    1. Is there somewhere shown how to add an SSD to this laptop? - I do not know English so please, without comments like "10s searching for something like english has been entered in google"
    2. how to format it after inserting the SSD drive. So that the system has just uploaded onto this disk.

Thank you in advance for replying.

    Welcome.
For starters, you should determine which disk you want to buy. This is due to the specification of the laptop. Considering that you are writing about adding a disk to an existing HDD, you probably mean an SSD type M.2 - probably such a slot on the SSD this laptop has.

On noteboocheck there are photos of this laptop in his review (it may be a review with a different configuration, but it does not matter): https://www.notebookcheck.pl/Minirecenzja-Acer-Aspire-VX5-591G.192160.0.html

Go to the gallery and see the last photo. You must remove the entire bottom cover of this laptop, you will have access to everything. In the picture from NBC the M.2 drive is mounted (horizontal expansion card between the hard drive and the left fan).

There are several types of m.2 discs and several lengths. Check well how they are supported to choose the right one. It looks long on 2280, but I do not want to judge after the picture :)

You do not have to worry about formatting the disk. If you start the system installation, the Windows installer will allow you to format and install it (if it is properly installed and supported). You can try to move Windows from the current disk, but I would install the clean version from scratch. If the laptop was purchased from Windows 10, then you can download the installation version of the system from the Microsoft website: https://www.microsoft.com/pl-pl/software-download/windows10 - you can download the tool or CD from which you can install the system . Drivers needed after installation can be found on the Acera site: https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers

Thank you for answering. Now maybe I will give you what I mean. At the beginning I admit that this is the laptop, and more precisely this model:

    https://www.x-kom.pl/p/342410-notebook-laptop...x5-591g-i5-7300hq-8gb-1000-win10-gtx1050.html

All information that I would like to do in 1 post but I will repeat it and extend it:
    1. I want to buy this drive carefully: https://www.x-kom.pl/p/327012-dysk-ssd-plextor-256gb-25-m2-2280-sata-ssd-s2-series.html
    2. The laptop has a recovery partition on the HDD, so it had to be bought with Windows 10.

and now I am asking questions like this:
    1. Is there a video showing step by step how to mount an SSD in this laptop? - It can be in English if everything is shown, I do not have to understand.

    2. How to run the recovery in this laptop so as to upload windows to the SSD drive.

There is no video, you can try to search for a movie where demolition of this laptop is shown. Generally unscrews all screws from the bottom and removes the entire bottom.

Mounting m.2 is quite intuitive, you put in the socket, you screw the screw. Just like here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JCTFABytrYA - this is supposed to be shown on the motherboard of the desktop computer, but the socket and the mounting method are the same.

I have no idea if you can start recovery from HDD to install them on SSD.

I found such info: the size of this screw is M2.0x3mm (flat head, diameter 2mm, length 3mm).
Generally, in repair services for laptops, you should match the right screw.

Thank you very much one more question. The HHD disk as I leave in the computer will it be a significant slowdown of the computer or is it better to buy cables and use it as an external drive? how to buy cables is because I do not know it completely and I do not even know how to find it.

The HDD drive will not be significantly slowed down by the mere presence of the computer.

Leave HDD as a data warehouse. If you fall an SSD, you will be in a black hole, and that's how you can recover something.

Hello everyone, I have a strange question, I have to ask:

    1. Does my laptop support it and whether it is the SSD M.2 disk slot

    2. What interface should I buy for this sata or m.2 or PCIE disk?

Welcome. Between the left-hand fan and the disc, you have the M.2 socket with the "M" key. SATA drives and NVMe drives can be physically inserted into sockets in this format, so you have to specify in your equipment documentation how they are supported - and buy yourself the right one.

They do not write much about this in the manual, only the description of BIOS updates for version 1.01 contains information: Resolve Intel PCIE SSD device information abnormal in F12 boot menu, therefore it can be assumed that the VX5-591G laptop should also support NVMe disks, at least from the BIOS version 1.01. In several places on the network you can find information that M.2 SATA disks should also work - but in your place I would contact Acer i She demanded he asked for information about supported disk models (in total, any self-respecting device manufacturer should include this information in the device's specification).

So it is confirmed that M.2 SATA and NVMe are supported, it's great that you have uploaded such confirmation from a more official source.
As for the lack of assembly elements, none other than the screw and the sleeve to which it is screwed in are additionally required. And as you can see the screw for mounting the disk you have, so the assembly will rather not be problems.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around adding an SSD to an Acer Aspire VX 15 laptop, specifically the VX5-591G model. Users seek guidance on selecting the appropriate M.2 SSD, with recommendations for models like Plextor and Adata. Instructions for installation include removing the bottom cover and securing the SSD with an M2.0x3mm screw. Users inquire about formatting the SSD and utilizing the recovery partition on the existing HDD to install Windows 10. It is confirmed that both M.2 SATA and NVMe drives are supported, and the HDD can remain in the laptop as a data storage solution without causing significant performance issues.
