Hello, I checked these microstokes. Values on the attached 0 Ohm, on the open in the range of 640 Ohm.
Is there something I should further check?
Auto starts normally. The only problem is that the steering wheel lock does not engage....

Converted installation in the car and now does not block the lock. There is a trick for dead locks without fixing them, but then it no longer locks it at all, but it smokes drives and pops up a message on the dashboard when extinguishing.

    Can you write something more?

    Added after 4 [minutes]:

In my case it is exactly as you write. I have errors in gateway and in immobiliser. Also, I can't connect to the column.

Lock is one problem, multifunction another. =One has little to do with the other. Check the errors in module-16

Hello, I finally found a moment to check the installation for rework as suggested by DoctorCar.

Unfortunately the installation is not reworked. No bridges on wires.

    What can I check next.
Below is the list of errors with which I can not deal.

I found such a provision on the web, sorry for the translation...
In order to increase safety requirements, the release of the electronic steering column lock must be authorized by three separate control units.
The following conditions must be met:
    ● Authorized key must be recognized by the imobilizer.
    ● Data bus diagnostic interface J533 (speed = 0 km / h; rpm = 0 rpm)
    ● Steering column electronics control unit J527 (terminal 15 off, speed = 0 km / h)
    ● Central comfort control unit J393 (terminals 15, CAN signals from J533 and J527 OK)
    ● Input and output authorization switch E415 (Contact S, terminal 15 off)
    ● Electronic steering column lock J764 (checks that both speed signals from J533 and J527 are OK)
Electronic steering column unlocks when authorized key is recognized by
    immobilizer.
Pools 15 and 50 are activated only when the electronic steering column lock is enabled

Difficult case, you would have to hook up another lock for a test, possibly a steering or comfort module, because sometimes without backing up these controllers/modules it is difficult to fix the car.

I swapped the steering wheel module, no change. Interestingly, when I manually lock the lock(by turning the worm inside the lock),when I turn on the ignition the lock releases....

In the immobilizer module, group 005 I found something like this.

    Address 25: Immobilizer (3C0 959 433 R)

10:34:32 Group 005: Electronic Steering Column Lock (ESCL) II
    1.0 ESCL Status Mode
    ON ESCL Status (Unlocking Bit)
    OFF ESCL Status (Locking Bit)

Does anyone know what this is responsible for?
    How can one change
OFF ESCL Status (Locking Bit) to ON ESCL Status (Locking Bit)?

A breakthrough in the case! I swapped the gateway gateway. I put in from another b6 but the swapped one is 7bytes. No. 3C0907951A and the lock started to lock. The non-functioning gateway is a 10-bar. No. 3C0907530L

On the new one I have no errors. The lock works. The sec is that this 10 byt(orginal) I can not code to make the lock work. According to me . Wrong coding , or my vcds does not show all options. Or a third broken gateway. Before I buy the next gateway I want to rule out the first two options

1:0 for us!!! The lock works. Repeated attempts at coding had no effect. So I purchased a new gate with the tipM. After replacing the gate and coding, no errors in the gate and immo. However, I think something is still wrong. Because on the old gate as well as on the new one, unchecking the list of installed 2B modules brings up the error
02811 - Control Module for Electronic Steering Column Lock (J764) . In addition, I still can not connect to it. . Anyway I close the topic. Thank you all for the pertinent and not pertinent hints.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around a VW Passat B6 2.0 CBAB experiencing a steering wheel lock error (Error 02638 - Enabling Steering Column Lock) and related electrical faults. Users report that the car starts normally, but the steering wheel lock does not engage, and they cannot connect to the steering column lock module. Various diagnostic checks reveal issues with the CAN gateway and immobilizer, with some users suggesting that the electronic steering column lock (ESCL) may not be receiving the correct signals from other control units. Solutions discussed include checking wiring, replacing the gateway, and ensuring proper coding of modules. One user successfully resolved the issue by swapping the gateway with a compatible unit, while others continue to face challenges with module connectivity and error codes.
