When buying a set to open the entrance gate, we have photocells in the set. I just wonder whether to mount them at all, and if so, where. I have a double-leaf gate mounted on 10/10 cm metal posts. Hinges are welded in the middle of the post surface, hence my question, where should these photocells be mounted or not installed at all?

Look for sensors mounted on the front of the gate. The sensors board can be rotated in them.
    E.g. Focus Slim

Look at the operator's manual and check at what height the photocells should be mounted.
Helpful post? Buy me a coffee.

There should really be two photo lines, and there is a way for every problem. In this case, you mount photos on stands or mount rotated as a colleague wrote, for example Beninca Pupila

Hello, as colleagues write should be mounted two sets, one outside the gate, the other in the middle, i.e. in the yard, I always mount on 10/10 posts, these photocells that can be turned, and as for the photocells inside after opening the gate 20cm from the gate that is, the gate opens at 1.5 m it mounts at 1.7 m if you do not mount it then you would have to have closing not automatic control only remote control greetings

My photocells are unfastened and the gate automatically closes. Photocells are a safe guarantee when closing. I unfastened, because during the rain, the gate could open and close all the time. FAAC photocells.

you know, there is a certain guarantee of security as you write, it is a fact that rainfall is too large, i.e. large drops can cause photocells to leak and if it is not closed, if it is open or a snowfall, the winter season can also cause it remote control, i.e. the gate signal opens, the second gate signal stops and the third signal, the gate closes, it gave all safety

There is such a thing - one signal - the gate opens and closes automatically after a specified time. The second option - one signal - the gate opens, the second signal - stop, the third signal - the gate closes. This is programmed in the controller.

then if you have it programmed so ok nothing should happen only if someone else has a remote control for the gate and someone will stand in the gate of the car and the other person will want to enter the property and give a signal by remote control to open and the gate is already open and this the signal will close the gate and in your place if you do not want to mount the photocell I would install a metal detector and connect it to the photocell which will not cause closing because some car will always catch this metal detector I will have a metal detector installed on the gate and under the photocell

That `s nothing. I cut off the brakes and the car kept going ;) The problem is not that the gate will not work in the automatic closing system, but that, as colleagues wrote, it is simply dangerous.
    best regards

The information given above explained a lot to me about the installation of photocells. Thank you all. I close the topic.

Hello, in the spring, I am going to install a gate automation and I wonder how to protect the marked field in red, there is 1.75m

I understand that 6 photocells are needed then?

    Hmm ...
    More like 4.
    - One to protect the closing, when the car drove a bit through the open gate into the yard from the street, and the gate begins to close,
    - two to protect opening, if there is a possibility of people being crushed by the opening leaves of the gate,
    - and one that protects and opens and closes when the car is standing in the yard and is within range of both the opening and closing gate ...

    greetings

ok, let's assume that the wing is 1.75m after opening, the kid leaves the bike in the middle of the driveway where the detectors do not reach
in this case, this area is not secured Photocells in Double-Leaf Gate: Mounting & Positioning on 10x10cm Metal Posts with Welded Hinges
in the case of a sliding gate, there is no problem because there I also secured it with 4 photocells in front of and behind, but here I can see a bit more of the unsecured zone. unfortunately I am forced to install a swing gate.

Well, it's impossible to put photos in the place where the gate wings fly ;) . But you can give a kit (mostly with 24 V motors) with exactly working amperometric anti-squash.

And the person controlling the gate should keep an eye on the gate's operating area.
If your gate leaf does not cross your yard, you can also install several OZ photocells across the yard, below the gate leaf.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around the installation and positioning of photocells for a double-leaf gate mounted on 10x10 cm metal posts with welded hinges. Users suggest that photocells should be mounted in two sets: one outside the gate and another inside the yard, typically at a height specified in the operator's manual. It is recommended to use adjustable photocells, such as the Focus Slim or Beninca Pupila, to accommodate the gate's operation. Concerns about safety and functionality during adverse weather conditions, such as rain or snow, are raised, emphasizing the importance of photocells for automatic closing mechanisms. Additionally, alternative solutions like metal detectors are proposed to enhance safety. The conversation concludes with a consensus on the necessity of photocells for secure gate operation.
