    Hello
I plan to buy an MFD for the home.
After searching the "what to buy" section, I selected 4 models that suit me best: 1) Brother DCP-J105 [520pln, new] 2) Epson WF-2630WF [390pln, new] 3) HP PHOTOSMART 5520 [290pln, allegro, new, 12 months seller warranty] 4) Epson wf-3620dwf [PLN 500, new].

This choice was primarily influenced by the fact that all 4 devices have cheap carcass replacements available, followed by a reasonable price for the devices themselves.
The dcp-j105 is in favor of a mechanism that prevents the ink from drying out (I care a lot about the chosen device having or at least using the ink cartridges integrated with the printhead) ... for the rest of the devices I don't know if they have such mechanisms (apparently hp use ink cartridges integrated with the printhead).

Which device of these 4 would you recommend?

Thanks in advance for any help

@ krzysztof212, do you know how dcp-j105 (or j100) comes with cheap carcass replacements (from a well-known auction site), is it troublesome or is everything alright?

@ krzysztof212, before you wrote back I found information ( here ) that dcp-j105, however, accepts cheap replacements..what to the replacements themselves - a cheap replacement does not always mean a shorter printer life ... opinions are divided on the forum ... I used cheap Canon Canon for 5 years and nothing bad happened. It was only a six-month break in use that made it (the trail got hit because the ink went dry).

back to dcp-j105 - I am interested in this mechanism that prevents the ink from drying out ... how it looks in practice - it happens to you that it turns on at night itself and wakes up all household members ;) ? does it turn on only during the day?

    Regards

Brother has been using automatic cleaning in printers for a long time, even if it is turned off, all it needs is that it is plugged in. Cleaning can happen. It is obvious that ink is consumed.
I recommend brother, but I would not use the cheapest substitutes (they can beat the head), but some better ones. In slightly older brothers I use ORINK companies and I have no problems.

the cheapest replacements for dcp-j105 are tempting with the price - for a ...... 5pln / pcs ...
in the well-known online store from Krakow there is a large selection of cheap replacements (but not the cheapest ones compared to a ......) ... which the cheapest from this store would you recommend to dcp-j105 (tfo, incor, actis or maybe other )?

I repeat the question: how is this automatic cleaning in brother dcp-j105? can turn on at night and wake up the household (this printer is quite loud) ??

    Loud is not ...
I recommend starting cleaning the head from the user's menu in a friend's shop / store and checking.
I also have a private brother, and even vigilant household members do not arouse ...

One client got scared at night because she thought it was a thief or a mouse, but it was an older model for 985 carcasses. As far as I remember the newer ones are quieter so that the sleeper will not wake up. I would turn it off at night because it won't dry for 10-12 hours.

You would have to pull the plug out of the socket, power the printer. Brothers have a refreshing of the print head (because it is not cleaning, it is only refreshing, "protection against drying out") works even when the printer is turned off with the On / Off function button, all you have to do is plug the printer's power plug into the socket and it's enough that there is no problem with the head, the only drawback is that there is no option to set when it is to "space". It does it when you "remember" it, we have no influence on it, maybe in newer models there is an option to set this function, I don't know. Ink this option consumes minimal and yet protects this head. I've been using the DCP-J315W Brotcher for several years, I print very little (sometimes this month is "useless", only the plug connected to the socket) and there has never been a problem with the head I use a replacement ink for Actiwe Jet - the price for a set of cartridges (4 colors) from about PLN 40. Brother DCP-J105 is probably the successor to the Brotcher DCP-J315W.

and what do you think about those inks for j105 that I replaced (tfo, incor, actis)? anyone uses them / used for j105? if so how does the printer respond to them?

When it comes to replacement inks, they won't cost you a zloty.
It is worth investing in empty ink and occasionally release the cleaning fluid for cleansing the heads.

as long as they don't cost PLN 1

I understand that you mean, for example, these inks: 5949328820 or 6580781845 (no on a well-known auction site)? ... although zlotys do not cost, but they are also very cheap

    Quote:
release cleaning from time to time

can you specify how often? once every six months, a month or more often?

Once every 2-3 months it is enough.
I used a very cheap replacement at my place, 20 containers for PLN 30 (PLN 1.5 each) and I saved 3 heads ...
It seems to me that 4 - 6 PLN for ink is a reasonable price and rinsing with cleansing liquid every 2-3 months and you can print virtually free.

You can also buy a set of empty large inks and inks in bottles and dilute them with cleansing liquid. It comes out very economically and there are no problems remembering to unblock the heads.

Finally, I was tempted to dcp-j105, I have been testing it for a week and I am honestly average.
I describe my current printer problems here .

Thanks again to everyone for your help.
