The type of oil does not matter in this class of gearboxes. You pour the engine (e.g. your 5W40) - it will be good, you pour the transmission (e.g. Hipol GL-4 80W / 90) - it will also be good. I also tested semi-fluid grease (ŁT-4 grease mixed with 15W-40 engine oil for cream consistency) and it also worked. These are not strenuous gears, designed for hard, long-term work.
As for the amount of oil, it will probably be around 100 ml. The exact amount needed can be determined as follows:
1 / to the transmission, lying in the position as in the picture, pour oil as much as it enters. The vent hole, which is firmly (if available) in the upper part of the housing (near the pulley) must first be closed. After twisting both parts of the gear, this hole must be unblocked. The most commonly used method.
2 / to the oil pan, i.e. the bottom of the gear, pour max. oil. You put the rest of the gearbox on this oil pan and screw it on from below. Inconvenient method.
3 / scanning the inside of the gear housing. Expensive method, requiring a scanner and a computer program.
4 / calculation of the volume of the interior of the gear using double marked integrals. Archaic, time consuming and requires a lot of mathematical knowledge.
