Hello, I have a Samsung gakaxy s5 sm-g900h phone and after the fall of about 30-40 cm (being in the case) the screen is black.

I was watching TV on the screen mirroring function and when I wanted to stop the movie I accidentally pulled the cable from the charger (the phone was charging) and it came down and it was just a black screen, I could still see what was on the screen, and touching the phone I was able to see that something is happening - in other words, the touch has not fallen. By resetting the phone I can hear the startup sound.

The buttons on the sides first worked normally for a while. Now the back button is not lit at all, while the button on the left (option?) Lights up constantly. I am unable to connect again through screen mirroring because I have a code and it does not leave me unlock the phone, enter the notification panel and run this function

The display has cracked or the ribbon has slackened. Rather, get ready for the first option, but you can also check the connector.

Only that no matter what angle I look at the screen there is no crack. There are only old scratches

If you want to see it so much, look under strong light and at an angle. Only we do not talk about the glass and the display.

Is anything that can be done without returning the phone for service / repair?

I've already written - you have a chance that the tape has detached from the display, verify it, the more that you claim that you can not see the cracks or at least you do not write anything.

However, if the display has broken, you can connect it to the monitor or TV by MHL. But I assume that's not the point. You can also repair it yourself, then you do not give it away :D

Of course, something could have been damaged on the disc, but it is rather unlikely.

Oh yes, I have not noticed (maybe blind) any such "internal" cracks.
As for the tape, I have no idea how to verify it and I can not find any sensible source of information on how to do it.

Apparently, it remains to deliver to some service, and if the repair will be expensive, it will drain this phone and return to the old one.

Under the back cover you have such a small plug with a screw screwed in, there is a tape under it.

I'm sorry, I was tired of the fingerprint from the fingerprint reader. It was late ;) . In fact, at this point you can probably end the topic because the tape is under the display and would not be detached. And I see that you do not want to combine too, it's better to give a phone call to the site.

Here you have this ribbon, it's under the screen. To get to her you would have to peel off the screen.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around a Samsung Galaxy S5 (SM-G900H) experiencing a black screen issue after a fall. The user reports that the touch functionality remains operational, as they can hear startup sounds, but the display is unresponsive. Responses suggest potential causes such as a detached ribbon cable or internal cracks, despite the user not observing any visible damage. Suggestions include checking the connector and considering self-repair options, although the user expresses uncertainty about performing these checks. Ultimately, the consensus leans towards seeking professional repair if the issue persists, as accessing the ribbon cable requires disassembling the device.
