Welcome. VW passat B5 estate 1.6 1998 Today I accidentally opened the door and saw that you can easily pull the lock insert with your fingers. Do I have to dismantle the door to fix it or can I just put on a strong adhesive and put it back again? I don't have one screw on the side of this lock. Do I have to buy anything on a rubble?

The insert should be secured with a screw at the height of the insert. After opening the door above the lock there is a plug and under it a screw for an allen key, probably 3 or 4. This is how it looks Repairing VW Passat B5 Estate 1.6 1998 Door Lock Insert: Dismantle or Adhesive?

Check if the torx on the back of the door is screwed in, but it seems to me something from this insert from the front broke off, because this is how it looks in the photo.

Thank you for your responses, I clicked helped. I will try to insert a torx key 20. If it turns out that the ring has fallen and I can not tighten the torx screw or can I grease the black plastic inserts in my photo with two-component glue and put in the clamp of the ring so that it stays for years and it could not be pulled out by the thief without to dismantle the door? Will the door handle and door open with the key if I stick it permanently?

the handle works, I open and close the door, the lock works with the key closing and opening.

I pasted the insert into the zipper and it works for now.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around the issue of a loose door lock insert in a 1998 VW Passat B5 Estate 1.6. The original poster inquires whether to dismantle the door for repair or use adhesive to secure the insert. Responses suggest that the lock insert is typically secured with a screw, which may be missing or broken. It is recommended to check for a Torx screw at the back of the door and to properly fix the issue rather than relying on adhesive. One user mentions successfully using two-component glue to secure the insert temporarily, but cautions against permanent fixes that could hinder normal door operation.
