Hey. In VW Passat b5 estate 1.6 petrol 1998 pulling the driver's handle does not open the door From the inside you can restore the door without a problem but from the outside I can press the door handle as much as I want and I will not open the door. What is the problem? On the other hand, the passenger has a broken handle (frozen in winter (and I will not open the door, only from the back passenger door.

I tried to put a hole in the lock where it got in, but it did not do anything. I close the car with the key or the remote control, but the handle is separate.

Is the cable from the external handle a separate creation from the inner handle line?

The handle must be pulled and not pressed :)
The outer handle has a separate cable.
You have to take out the lock insert and check if the cable is in and if it has not been pulled out of the handle.
When you open the door, you can see a plastic plug at the height of the handle on the side of the door. Below it is a screw with a torx head. You have to loosen it (do not unscrew it completely), at the same time you pull the handle and the lock insert.

Thank you for the answer. If I remove the handle and the insert, and when we assume that the cord has been blown out of the handle, in this way I am able to catch it and put it back again or do I need to take the bacon from the inside?

If you are out of the door handle, it will go without undressing the door.
If she broke up or squeezed out of the zip, it would be a door to undress.
It may also be the fault of the damaged lock.
Either way, you have to take out the insert and then you'll know more.

Thank you very much @ played 1 for help, I click helped, I did exactly how you wrote, and I saved the mechanism, the link was removed from the handle and I fixed it.

Unfortunately, the other side of the car (ie passenger) has a broken handle (the place where the cable comes is broken - an attempt to open at minus 20 degrees). The deepest thing is that from the insert that enters the inner handle (skeleton) once fell the ring and the insert was glued in a plastic frame with a black handle inner epoxy resin. I wonder how to get to it to save the insert and replace the handle. Do you have any idea?

You take off the bacon, remove the glass, and unscrew the sheet with the lift. You unscrew the lock and you can see the handle from the inside. If the ring has fallen, it locks the insert, it probably lies in the door at the bottom. Assess its condition, whether it is bent or bent. I suspect that the door was blocked and someone opened it from the outside, pulling out the insert. You can now start replacing the handle and checking the condition of its elements (the place where the ring is supposed to be), or insert the second one. Then you fold and enjoy the acting lock and handle. You will not know anything, write, I will gladly tell you.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around functionality issues with the external door handles of a 1998 VW Passat B5 Estate 1.6 Petrol. The main problem is that the driver's side handle does not open the door from the outside, although it works from the inside. Users suggest that the outer handle has a separate cable that may have come loose, and recommend checking the lock insert and the handle mechanism. For the passenger side, the handle is broken due to freezing conditions, complicating access to the internal components. Solutions involve removing the door panel to access the handle and lock assembly for repairs or replacements.
