    Hello,

... for several years I have a modem in the VECTRA network. TP LINK router connected so far was without any problems: PC and PS3 connected via wires and several smartphones and 2 laptops wirelessly - WiFi. And it happened ... Today, the service has installed me a new Technicolor TC7230 modem / router and problems have started. After installing the modem / router, the installer checked the operation on my smartphone and everything was ok in the 5 GHz band and went. When I started to set up other devices, serious problems began. nothing works just for a moment two smartphones worked simultaneously but in different bands one 5 GHz and the other 2.4 GHz. Then I turned off the WiFi in smartphones and connected the PC on the cable to configure. I have to admit that PC hula nice, but what if no other device in the house has a connection to the network. and for China People I can not deal with it. The tool can operate the internet only for one device. I can not get to the router (address 192.168.0.1 does not work), I accidentally entered 192.168.100.1 and asked for login and password - of course, "admin" does not work, so BOK effectively blocks here. I do not even know how to change the factory password for the router .. and configure the network for other devices is "mission impossible" at this point.
Ask for your advice ... :sm9:

    Your router or provider?

Check what you get the address on the connected computer - if from the public pool you probably have a router set to bridge mode. Read the contract also - there may be a record of one device (in old contracts for additional providers sometimes they needed a surcharge). both problems are usually solved by your own router which connects to the provider's router and configures according to the needs.

The provider will not give you access to your router, you can ask for a WiFi password and reconfigure the network so that you have NAT, your own private network with the possibility of connecting more devices.

    Welcome,

It was too early to be happy that everything works!
Smartphones and PC (XP) on the cable work fine, but my laptop - Samsung (Win7 Home Premium) can not cope with the modem / router TC 7230. Despite DNS.8.8.8 and cable connection to the router I could not connect to the internet because every time something was wrong.
Either DNS, or an unidentified network, or network connection disabled, etc.
In the end, I decided to return to the old router (TP-Link), which I had for 5 years. I connected it with the "bridge" bridge (in the settings on the Vectra website) with the TC 7230 router, I renewed the settings: WEP2 security, passwords and selected the least frequented fixed broadcast channel. The PC on the cable has been blown to TP-Link and works fine. I changed my smartphones and it's ok. Problem only with a laptop!
Usually when I turn it on during the day can identify the network and the Internet works, but if the break is longer, e.g. 2 hours or the whole night is turned off this morning the network sees as public and again I have to move from public to domestic and burn it on / off . Although in the settings day the day before I set this network as home! This is very annoying. If I do not do it, the network sees it, but there is no internet connection ... I am waiting for advice.

    greetings

    Added after 14 [minutes]:

... just after 1 hour of disuse, I missed the burn and the network sees it as home, but the internet is missing. Diagnosis suggests that there may be problems with the DNS server ... and so in the circle of Maciej ....

And finally, you do not know what kind of wifi you are connected to - whether from Vectra or TP Link.

I made these basics at the very beginning and they did not work because I put in a post ...
read everything from the beginning you will understand ..

Why this certainty, since modemorouter can generate their own wifi even in bridge mode (something like WiFree in UPC - they also have something similar).

I asked for pictures from the network scan!
Base another router instead of TP Link.
Turn off wifi network security at all and try to connect to the wifi network

    What operating system?
In safe mode with network support works wifi?

    WIN7 operating system
the paradox is that the connection to the network is always, but it is not always possible to use the interner, ie it works once, and once it does not (depending on the case and the dynamic IP)

Topic summary

✨ The discussion revolves around issues faced after the installation of a Technicolor TC7230 modem/router in a Vectra network. The user initially experienced connectivity problems with multiple devices, despite successful connections on the 5 GHz band. Suggestions included checking the modem's configuration, ensuring it was set to router mode instead of bridge mode, and accessing the Vectra system to change settings. After some troubleshooting, the user managed to connect devices successfully but encountered ongoing issues with a Samsung laptop running Windows 7, which intermittently failed to access the internet. Further advice included resetting network settings and ensuring proper configuration of the TP-Link router in conjunction with the TC7230.

FAQ

TL;DR: If your Technicolor TC7230 is in bridge mode, only 1 device routes; switch to router mode and reboot. “The provider will not give you access to your router.” [Elektroda, jdubowski, post #16790830]

Why it matters: This FAQ helps Vectra users fix multi-device Wi‑Fi, 2.4/5 GHz issues, and Windows laptop connectivity—fast.

Quick Facts

How do I connect multiple devices to a Technicolor TC7230 on Vectra?

Put the TC7230 in router mode so it performs NAT. Bridge mode hands a public IP to only one device. After switching, reboot the modem. Then connect your devices to the 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz SSID shown on the label. [Elektroda, Anonymous, post #16791283]

How do I switch TC7230 between bridge and router mode?

Use Vectra’s eBOK account to toggle the TC7230 mode. Save changes, then power-cycle the TC7230 for about 30 seconds. Reconnect clients to the SSID if names or passwords changed. “You need a router mode to have Wi‑Fi on multiple devices.” [Elektroda, Anonymous, post #16790947]

I can’t log in at 192.168.0.1—what’s the correct address?

TC7230 management often answers at 192.168.100.1 on Vectra, but provider credentials are locked. You won’t receive the admin password from Vectra. Manage Wi‑Fi name and password through eBOK instead, then reboot the modem. [Elektroda, jdubowski, post #16790830]

Where is my TC7230 Wi‑Fi password?

Check the sticker on the back or bottom of the router for the default SSID and Wi‑Fi key. You can later change these in your Vectra eBOK panel and reconnect devices to the updated network. [Elektroda, Anonymous, post #16790947]

Why do only some phones connect on 5 GHz while others need 2.4 GHz?

Devices vary in band support. Keep both SSIDs enabled. Some older phones only support 2.4 GHz. If 5 GHz works but 2.4 GHz fails, verify router mode and recheck SSID/password, then reboot the TC7230. [Elektroda, outerb, post #16790785]

How do I use my own TP‑Link router with the TC7230?

Set the TC7230 to bridge mode in eBOK. Connect TP‑Link WAN to TC7230 LAN. Power-cycle both for 30 seconds. Configure TP‑Link Wi‑Fi (security, channel) and connect clients to TP‑Link’s SSID. This isolates Wi‑Fi duties to your router. [Elektroda, KOCUREK1970, post #16838578]

My Windows 7 laptop says “unidentified network” or has DNS errors—how do I fix it?

Reset the Windows TCP/IP and Winsock stack. Open an elevated Command Prompt and run: netsh int ip reset, then netsh winsock reset. Reboot the PC, reconnect to Wi‑Fi, and test. This clears corrupt network bindings. [How to reset TCP/IP by using the NetShell utility]

After sleep or overnight, Wi‑Fi shows as Public and Internet is missing—what then?

On Windows 7, stale network profiles can misclassify the network and block access. Reset TCP/IP and Winsock, then reconnect and set the network location to Home again. This resolves post‑sleep issues for many users. [How to reset TCP/IP by using the NetShell utility]

Does bridge mode really limit me to one device online?

Yes. In bridge mode, the public IP goes to a single connected device. Router mode enables NAT for many clients. Older contracts even mentioned one‑device limits; adding your own router removes that friction. [Elektroda, jdubowski, post #16790830]

I switched modes but nothing changed—what did I miss?

Changes apply after a power cycle. Unplug the TC7230 for 30 seconds, then plug it back. Wait for sync, then reconnect clients. Mode toggles without reboot often leave clients on the old lease and settings. [Elektroda, Anonymous, post #16791283]

Can the TC7230 broadcast Wi‑Fi even in bridge mode?

Yes, it can still emit provider Wi‑Fi similar to public hotspots. This can confuse device associations. If using your own router, disable any extra SSIDs on the TC7230 via eBOK if available. [Elektroda, KOCUREK1970, post #16839195]

What’s the best band for older laptops and IoT devices?

Use 2.4 GHz for legacy devices; it has better range and compatibility. Keep 5 GHz for newer phones, consoles, and streaming. If a device fails on 5 GHz, connect it to 2.4 GHz and test DNS. [Elektroda, outerb, post #16790785]

How do I change my TC7230 Wi‑Fi name (SSID) and password?

Log in to Vectra eBOK, edit the SSID and password, save, then reboot the modem. Reconnect all devices using the new credentials. “You can change to your own through the panel.” [Elektroda, Anonymous, post #16790947]

What if my PC works over Ethernet but Wi‑Fi clients don’t?

You may be in bridge mode or using mixed SSIDs. Switch to router mode, confirm both 2.4/5 GHz SSIDs, and reboot. Then reconnect each device. This restored multi‑device Wi‑Fi for the original poster. [Elektroda, outerb, post #16791323]

Quick 3‑step: fix “connected, no Internet” on Windows 7

  1. Open elevated Command Prompt.
  2. Run: netsh int ip reset & netsh winsock reset.
  3. Reboot and reconnect to your SSID. This resets stacks and often restores DNS. [How to reset TCP/IP by using the NetShell utility]

Edge case: My network flips to Public randomly—could IP changes trigger drops?

Yes. With dynamic IP on sleep/wake, Windows can mislabel the profile and block traffic. Reset stacks and set the profile to Home after reconnect. If issues persist, ensure router mode and stable SSID. [Elektroda, outerb, post #16839551]
