    Welcome,
I have a strange problem in my Asus X205TA notebook. My touchpad has stopped working but only buttons. Neither the right button nor the left button or even a tap works. I thought about updating the drivers. I updated. The touchpad has started to work but I can't use it at all. I've installed some Asus Smart Gesture software and I'm not doing anything. As soon as I want to drag the cursor, I get a selection. If the cursor is on a file, it starts to drag. Well, I can't move the cursor around the screen without selection. When I uninstalled this software and the driver was left, I returned to its original state, i.e. clicking again stopped working, only I can move the cursor around the screen. I don't know if it did not happen after some update. I have no idea. Previously, everything worked without problems. Has anyone encountered a similar problem?

Welcome. Traditionally, I recommend checking for example on Ubuntu. This will easily and quickly rule out a system problem.

I will check on ubuntu tomorrow. The problem is on Windows 10. At the clock I have an icon from this program Asus Smart Gesture and I noticed something interesting. When they put their finger on the trackpad, the left mouse button (on this icon) lights up green and that would be correct because moving the finger on the touchpad takes place simultaneously with the left button pressed and I don't press anything. As soon as I take my finger, the green button on the icon goes out.

In the control panel you should have touchpad settings or after clicking on Asus Smart Gesture. Upload screenshots of it as you have arranged there.

    Welcome,
Thank you all for your interest in the topic. Continuing, I could not check how the matter looks like ubuntu. I have a bootable USB stick (unfortunately this laptop is a netbook, no CD ROM) but I can't boot it on this computer. I do not know why. When I enter the BIOS, I don't even see the last flash drive to select it and start the computer from it. And linux works on a million percent, I checked on 3 different computers and normally entered the BIOS, in the last tab I chose a USB stick and Ubuntu booted up elegantly. And on asus I don't want to: /.

The second issue, below I attach two screens, one from Asus Smart Gesture which @ RADU23 wrote about and the other screen is a touchpad icon screen. Look how she looks. The left button is lit even though my finger was just lying on the trackpad, I didn't press anything and kept it in the upper right corner, away from the left button.
