Hello, I have no sound in my laptop since yesterday. I checked everything according to the guidelines from the forum. Everything is as it should be. I suspect it's something inside. Can anyone in what it can be and what are the repair costs? The laptop is not new, it has been around for 5 years. Could this be related to the failure? There is no sound when testing the speakers. Everything is fine in the device manager, the icons are also as it should be.

Run some Linux livecd / usb and check if you can hear sound.

On linux, silence = damaged audio chip. Check if it can be turned off and on in the BIOS and if it is on, but this option rarely exists in laptops.

Was there a failure? The repair will depend on what exactly the broken will cost.
There may be, for example, a short circuit in the jack socket / clamped speaker cables or a failure of the circuit on the PCB.
The solution, or more of a workaround, will also be to buy a small USB sound card.
