How can I connect headphones to an LG 43UJ620V TV that seems to have the wrong sockets/adapters, and what converter/amplifier setup is compatible?

Your LG 43UJ620V has no headphone output, only optical audio out, so wired headphones need an optical-to-analog converter plus a headphone amplifier, or you can avoid the wiring issue by using Bluetooth headphones instead [#16868534][#16872027][#16869887] The TV’s optical output must be enabled in the menu: set Speakers to External speakers and set the S/PDIF optical output to PCM [#16868920] Also turn off ARC/SimpLink if it is enabled [#16868920] Keep in mind the TV remote will not change the optical output level, so you need a separate way to adjust headphone volume [#16868920] If you already have a receiver/tower with AUX input, another option is to feed audio through that analog input and connect the headphones there [#16868898]

    Hello,
I noticed that on this forum the topic is quite common, so not only I have a problem with it. Unfortunately, none of the ways helped. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, or something is wrong with my purchase, i.e. an unsuitable amplifier or these cables are not that?
Below are the pictures of the sockets in my unsuccessful LG, amplifier and adapters.
Help, because the purchase was spontaneous, and the headphones are necessary for functioning.

This is the case with spontaneous purchases, the TV has only an optical audio output, there is no headphone output.
What signal source do you use, because maybe you can connect headphones there?
To get the sound on the headphones you need a converter from optical to analog and headphone amplifier.
Show photo of this converter, because it can be universal and you only need a headphone amplifier.

Exit the signal from the LR audio to the tower and switch it to AUX. Turn on the headphones to the tower. This is also some way out.

It must also be remembered that the optical output on the TV must be activated.
    Girlfriend did it?
Most often in the "Speakers" menu -> there you have to switch to -> "External speakers".
It is also necessary to set the optical digital audio output of the TV (S / PDIF) to the PCM mode.
At the converter and the cables in the headphones you should hear something.
TV remote control does not affect the signal level at the optical output, and hence, the headphones connected in this way.

And here you will have to figure something out to have this level of sound adjustment.

just in case - if the TV has SimpLink and ARC on it should be turned off. In particular, ARC.

On the first photo is the back of the tv. I see a red and white chinch there and I think it is an audio signal output. If you think otherwise, justify.

You are wrong, this is the audio input for the component signal, moreover, the specifications show that it has only an optical digital output.

On the first photo there is a converter from a digital (optical and electrical) signal to analog to make it work with headphones it is still necessary to have a headphone amplifier connected to the converter output. I recently installed such a converter with a friend to the computer speakers to make a noise from the console.

Mpow Bluetooth Receiver & Transmitter, 2-In-1 (price about 100 PLN) - something like this I connected to the headphone output of the receiver, which connects the optical sound cable with the TV and I bought the cheapest bluetooth headphones for about PLN 100. I adjust the sound in the headphones the amplifier and TV regulation is independent. Of course, music lovers can buy headphones for 500 or 1000 PLN.
Everything has been working for several weeks :)

Headphones with a TV that has bluetooth could not be paired :(

FAQ

TL;DR: LG 43UJ620V has 0 analog headphone outputs; "the TV has only an optical audio output." Use optical PCM + DAC (and often an amp) or go Bluetooth. [Elektroda, kazikszach, post #16870071]

Why it matters: This FAQ helps LG owners fix "no sound in headphones" by choosing the right outputs, adapters, and settings.

Quick Facts

Does the LG 43UJ620V have a headphone jack?

No. Users confirmed this model provides only an optical digital audio output and no 3.5 mm headphone socket. "The TV has only an optical audio output, there is no headphone output." [Elektroda, kazikszach, post #16870071]

How do I connect wired headphones to an LG 43UJ620V?

Use an optical (TOSLINK) cable from the TV to a DAC, then feed headphones via a headphone amp or powered speakers with a headphone jack. This hardware path is required because the TV offers digital-only audio out. [Elektroda, kazikszach, post #16868534]

What TV settings make the optical output work with converters?

Open Sound settings. Set Speakers to External and set Digital Audio Out (S/PDIF) to PCM. Then connect the DAC. "TV remote control does not affect the signal level at the optical output." [Elektroda, Polon_us, post #16868920]

Why don’t my volume buttons change headphone loudness over optical?

The TV sends a fixed-level digital signal on S/PDIF. Volume keys won’t change it. Control loudness on your headphone amp, DAC with volume, or receiver. [Elektroda, Polon_us, post #16868920]

Are the red/white RCA on the back audio outputs I can use?

No. Those red/white RCA connectors are component inputs on this LG, not line-level outputs. They won’t feed headphones. [Elektroda, kazikszach, post #16870071]

What’s a DAC, and do I also need a headphone amplifier?

A DAC converts the TV’s optical digital signal to analog. Many DACs output line level and need a separate headphone amplifier for proper volume and drive. [Elektroda, Marco_zg, post #16872027]

Is there a simple Bluetooth solution that works?

Yes. One user used a 2‑in‑1 Bluetooth transmitter (about 100 PLN) and budget headphones (about 100 PLN). It worked for weeks with independent volume control. [Elektroda, zbygru, post #17217961]

Why won’t my Bluetooth headphones pair directly with the TV?

Even TVs with Bluetooth may fail to pair with certain headphones or profiles. An external Bluetooth transmitter avoids these compatibility gaps. [Elektroda, zbygru, post #17217961]

How do I stop HDMI‑ARC/CEC from interfering with optical audio?

Disable Simplink (LG’s CEC) and ARC in settings if you use the optical output. This prevents routing conflicts and audio switching issues. [Elektroda, Polon_us, post #16868920]

How can I add volume control to an optical headphone setup?

Use a DAC with a volume knob, a dedicated headphone amp, or route DAC output into an amplifier/receiver with a headphone jack for control. [Elektroda, kazikszach, post #16868534]

Can I take audio from my receiver or stereo instead of the TV?

Yes. Send audio from your source or TV into a stereo/AV receiver (AUX). Plug headphones into the receiver’s jack for adjustable volume. [Elektroda, zdzich42, post #16868898]

My LG 47LF65 has a headphone port but no sound. What should I check?

Open the audio menu and look for a setting to switch between speakers and headphones. Ensure headphones are fully inserted and not muted. [Elektroda, zdzich42, post #20207960]

What model information should I share when asking for help?

Always provide the exact TV model (e.g., 43UJ620V). Helpers asked for it because outputs and menus vary by model and year. [Elektroda, Pedros050, post #16868113]

Quick 3‑step: How do I enable optical audio on LG for a DAC?

  1. In Sound, set Speakers to External.
  2. Set Digital Audio Out (S/PDIF) to PCM.
  3. Connect the optical cable to your DAC and test. [Elektroda, Polon_us, post #16868920]

Edge case: I connected a converter but still hear silence. What now?

Confirm S/PDIF is set to PCM, not bitstream. Disable ARC/Simplink. Then test with known-good optical cable and DAC power. Volume remains fixed at the TV. [Elektroda, Polon_us, post #16868920]

What’s a budget path to private listening without amps and wires?

Use a 2‑in‑1 Bluetooth transmitter on your audio chain and pair Bluetooth headphones. Reported working cost: about 200 PLN total. [Elektroda, zbygru, post #17217961]
