Hello, I have been a Samsung TV holder for 55 weeks.
I decided to do LED backlight in the back.
I would like to ask what diodes to choose? Light color, RGB, with or without remote control, do the sections have to be long or better spot when it comes to LED strips? What voltage or 5V under USB or maybe 12V?

as for the wall lighting behind the TV I have mixed feelings are good and bad
good is to reduce the contrast of the TV image with dark surroundings
\ I would choose linear lighting, in my opinion spotlights would be distracting.
\ Light intensity and color controlled by RGBW remote control, best for radio, why USB? power supply included in the set, e.g.

the biggest downside is the additional remote control, which simply dies in the most-needed moments; [

Hmmm, so maybe choose some steady light? In the previous 32-inch TV I had 3 stripes of 3 LEDs on each and were placed at the top and sides (blue).
I will also want to put a white brick (old brick), but probably not so fast next year.

Your concept is very good because of your own habits
Nevertheless, following this example, Philips Ambilight would never have been created and what is more it is being further developed.

I realized how a few years ago I installed the f.lux program which automatically changes the color temperature and brightness of the monitor during the day, taking into account the time, calendar and geographical location.
For me, the difference is immediately visible when I sit at a foreign monitor.

The USB port can be charged with 500mA - it is good to make a system that will consume less - and considering that the LED has a lighting efficiency of 8X better than the bulb and a forward voltage of 3V, you can have a power of 1.5W from these 500mA and it will be like a 12W bulb - it just fits as a light behind the TV to reduce the contrast.

And as to whether it makes sense - a long, long time ago (probably about 40 years) in the "Young Technician" wrote that watching TV so that the eye is dealing with the contrast of a bright screen with a dark environment, is very harmful to the eyesight , and that placing the light behind the TV significantly reduces this harmful effect - for this you need to illuminate the wall behind the TV, and more precisely those parts that can be seen from behind the TV - having LEDs you can better plan the light system, so that less power is needed.
