    Hello,

a few days ago, we bought TV with Cyfrowy Polsat in Poland. We connected the decoder, we fixed the antenna and it was time to install the channels and set up the antenna.
Unfortunately, the option to check the signal is the only thing that shows this black screen. Even 0% does not appear, I will not mention the installation of channels. I also have no idea how an antenna should be positioned relative to the degrees given on it.
I immediately point out that the topic concerns two women also, please, simply and succinctly, because professional phrases are foreign to me :) and the more professional I would like to avoid, because it is not the cheapest service.
I would like to add that the cable was connected directly from the antenna to the decoder, so it certainly is not his fault, because it is new.

Hello, the phone and the tel can be set. But to save time and nerves, he wants to summon someone from the antennas.

I suggest you read the article about setting up the satellite dish, it is described in detail what and how to set up the antenna. On the back of the antenna there is a scale where you need to set the pointer to indicate about 32, then find the noon and move the antenna so that the boom of the converter creates a 13 * angle with the meridian, which corresponds to the position of the Hotbird 13 satellite, on which Cyfrowy Polsat broadcasts, if the antenna mast is in vertically to the ground, after turning on the tv and the decoder, an image should appear. Further procedures are described in the operating instructions.

This will be an interesting topic :D :D like two amateurs, they took on putting on the antenna.
How well it folded up in the decoder set the manual search and from the south to the left-right-up-down and will be.

Or maybe you recommend something to measure the position relative to the antenna?

    Hello
I advise against setting the antenna by yourself, moving the antenna by 1 degree will result in a complete loss of the signal, and in both planes, even stronger tightening of the nut in the already set antenna can cause the signal to disappear.
The meter can be purchased for tens of zlotys, but it will tell you whether there is a signal or not, which will be a problem for a person not well-set, because the satellites are set approximately every 3 degrees and after the first delight that there is a signal will be asked, but on what satellite?
The Polsat decoder is extremely nasty to set up, the signal bars are showing with a slight delay and when a good signal is displayed, we are usually out of the optimal position.
I am not deterred, I had situations in which the antenna fixed on the eye turned out to be optimally set :) , but I set certainly more than 1000 antennas, if after half an hour you do not find a signal, I recommend a professional.
    Merry Christmas
Ps. The pointer meter is called SatFinder, once it was in Lidl with a price of around PLN 30, it should be provided with an additional piece of cable (two meters) and two plugs F.

As he called, he called. Better rydz than nothing, it is better to look with a satfinder than to look at.

    Hello
SatFinder works instantly and has sound signaling so that turning the antenna we have a chance to hear the fact of catching a signal, for a beginner this is better than advanced meters. All parameters useful for professionals can only confuse someone who sees them for the first time.

The only question is whether the ladies from the right southern side fastened the holder and hung the antenna, and how did they prepare the ends of the cable and film the F-ki?

Here the optimism is not blowing anywhere ...

A bit of this and a rhetorical question, but also tricky at the same time :) .

Topic summary

✨ The discussion revolves around issues faced by users of Cyfrowy Polsat in Poland after connecting their satellite antenna and decoder. The main problem is the absence of signal and channels, with users suggesting various solutions. FAQ

TL;DR: If your Cyfrowy Polsat shows 0% signal, even a 1° misalignment can break reception; experts warn of "complete loss of the signal." Align for Hot Bird 13°E, set elevation near 32°, and verify cabling. [Elektroda, PiotrPitucha, post #16908798] Why it matters: This FAQ helps new installers fix “no signal/no channels” on Cyfrowy Polsat without wasting time or money.

Quick Facts

Why do I get 0% signal after connecting my Cyfrowy Polsat dish?

Most 0% cases come from mis-aimed dishes, wrong mounting side, or badly prepared F-connectors. Confirm the mount faces the correct southern exposure and the cable ends are properly stripped and crimped. A single short or loose braid can kill the signal. Check that the LNB cable runs directly to the decoder with no damaged joins. If these basics are wrong, alignment won’t help. [Elektroda, KOCUREK1970, post #16909687]

Which satellite and direction should I aim at for Cyfrowy Polsat?

Aim at Hot Bird located at 13° East. Stand behind the dish, find true south at your location, then offset toward the satellite’s 13° position. Ensure the mast is perfectly vertical first. This puts the dish in the right neighborhood before you fine‑tune. The platform’s channels are broadcast from that orbital slot. [Elektroda, nomudrek, post #16908337]

How do I set my initial elevation and azimuth before fine‑tuning?

Use the dish’s rear scale and set the elevation pointer around 32° as a starting point. With TV and decoder on, rotate the dish gently near the south line toward the 13°E offset. Keep movements tiny and level. This basic geometry gets you close enough to lock a signal and then refine. [Elektroda, nomudrek, post #16908337]

My decoder’s signal bars lag—how should I align with that delay?

Turn the dish in very small steps, then pause to let the bars update. The Polsat decoder shows signal with a slight delay, so rushing makes you overshoot. As one installer put it, “The Polsat decoder is extremely nasty to set up,” so be patient and methodical. [Elektroda, PiotrPitucha, post #16908798]

Should I buy a SatFinder or a professional meter?

For beginners, a simple SatFinder helps because it reacts instantly and beeps when you hit a signal. Advanced meters display many parameters that can confuse new users. If you use a SatFinder, add a short jumper cable and two F‑connectors for easier handling at the dish. [Elektroda, PiotrPitucha, post #16909049]

How should I prepare and fit F‑connectors so they don’t kill the signal?

Strip the coax cleanly, fold back the braid, avoid loose strands touching the center conductor, and tighten the F‑connector firmly. Water‑tight each outdoor joint. Poorly prepared ends or a shorted braid will cause total signal loss and endless “0%” diagnostics. Re‑make suspect ends before re‑aiming. [Elektroda, KOCUREK1970, post #16909687]

What is the 1° rule when aligning a satellite dish?

Small moves matter. A 1° change can result in complete loss of signal on a correctly set system. Make micro‑adjustments on both elevation and azimuth, and tighten hardware evenly. Re‑check after tightening, as tension can shift the dish slightly off peak. [Elektroda, PiotrPitucha, post #16908798]

Satellites are ~3° apart—how do I know I’m on Hot Bird, not a neighbor?

Because satellites sit roughly every 3°, a basic meter will beep on many. Use the decoder tuned to a known Polsat transponder and peak only when the Polsat bar rises. If a meter beeps but the decoder shows nothing, you’re likely on the wrong satellite. [Elektroda, PiotrPitucha, post #16908798]

Give me a simple 3‑step how‑to to find Hot Bird 13°E.

  1. Set dish elevation to about 32° on the rear scale.
  2. Face due south, then slowly sweep toward the 13°E offset.
  3. When signal appears, peak with tiny movements, then tighten evenly and re‑check. [Elektroda, nomudrek, post #16908337]

Tightening the bolts killed my picture—what happened?

Over‑tightening or uneven tightening can nudge the dish off peak. Because alignment tolerances are tight, this small shift drops quality to zero. Loosen slightly, re‑peak the signal, then tighten both sides gradually while watching the bar after each quarter turn. [Elektroda, PiotrPitucha, post #16908798]

What exactly is a SatFinder?

A SatFinder is a simple pointer meter placed inline with the LNB cable. It gives an audible or needle indication when the dish sees a satellite. It won’t tell you which satellite, so you must verify with the Cyfrowy Polsat decoder before final tightening. [Elektroda, PiotrPitucha, post #16908798]

I’ve tried for 30 minutes and still have no signal—should I call a pro?

Yes. If you cannot lock a signal within about half an hour, call an installer. An experienced tech can finish faster and avoid common pitfalls like mis‑set elevation, wrong satellite, or bad connectors. It saves time and prevents unnecessary equipment purchases. [Elektroda, PiotrPitucha, post #16908798]

Can two amateurs realistically align a Cyfrowy Polsat dish?

It’s possible with patience, but expect trial and error. Start from the south, sweep slowly left‑right and up‑down while watching the meter. Use manual search on the decoder to confirm hits, then peak carefully. If frustration builds, schedule a local antenna specialist. [Elektroda, LeDy, post #16908528]

Is there a quick rule of thumb for first alignment attempts?

Use manual search on the decoder, face south, and make tiny movements only. Pause after each nudge to let the signal indicator update. This method prevents overshooting and helps beginners land on the correct satellite despite laggy on‑screen meters. [Elektroda, LeDy, post #16908528]

Why does my meter beep but the decoder still shows no channels?

Your meter is confirming “a” satellite, not necessarily Hot Bird 13°E. Neighboring satellites sit about every 3°. Always confirm by selecting a known Cyfrowy Polsat transponder or channel list before you tighten the dish. [Elektroda, PiotrPitucha, post #16908798]

What tools do you recommend if I still want to DIY?

A basic SatFinder with a 2‑meter jumper and two F‑connectors is enough for first alignment. Keep wrenches for gentle tightening. Skip costly pro meters unless you plan multiple installs. Focus on careful movements and verification with the Polsat decoder. [Elektroda, PiotrPitucha, post #16908798]
