How can I make Windows 10 see and access the USB drive shared by the Netia Spot router over Wi‑Fi?

Enable SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support in Windows 10: go to Control Panel > Programs and Features > Turn Windows features on or off, and tick SMB 1.0/CIFS file sharing support (at least the file sharing client/item mentioned in the thread). After that, the router’s USB disk becomes visible in Network and can be mapped; several users confirmed this fixed the issue when Windows 10 would not show the drive at all [#17251085][#17321548][#17536054][#17648001]

I have 3 computers in front of me. They all work on a WiFi network. One of them, with the latest Windows, does not see the network drive connected to the Router's USB.
    - System: 64 bit Windows 10 Home
    - 32GB USB drive (Pendrive) inserted into the USB Netia Spot
    - connection via WiFi,

    What does not see mean?
What have you done besides writing the post? (so that we do not get stuck in these topics).

The problem is, you can't see it and it can't be mapped. I have mapped it on other computers and it's OK. I cannot see this disk on the network. I see other computers, I see and use a printer, I see TV etc and the drive is Ghost.

Reset the W10 to factory defaults and see what then.

Type of the workgroup name in W10 the same as in other computers?

There is nothing to reset because the computer is new. In the photos below I show what computers see. The one with W10 does not see NETIASPOTDRIVE. A moment ago I checked on a laptop 4 and it sees this drive, I mapped it and it's OK.

The fact that the new one does not mean that something in the network protocols was not mixed up or that MS itself did not mess up something with a patch.

\\ 192.168.1.254 is the entry to Netia Spot and works on all computers also on the problem one
\\ 192.168.1.254 \ A does not only work on this problem PC in Windows 10.
Only entering a network drive does not work on this Windows 10 - other activities on Netia Spot can be performed without any problems.

When I type //192.168.1.254/A into the explorer window or without the A drive, an error window appears. Picture below:

I had a similar problem with the Western Digital network drive for which I downloaded the drivers and WD Access software. However, it didn't help much, but at least it didn't hurt. I was looking for this disk with Total Commander (a very useful program) and with it I was able to find this disk by typing \\ MYBOOKLIVEDUO in the address bar. However, this disk is very slow to make contact - it takes a long time to enter and then verify the password. There is clearly something wrong with the disk communication line. Surprisingly, after logging in, data transfer goes very quickly.
Try typing \\ NETIASPOTDRIVE into the address bar.

Why don't you have the option? What is the problem with connecting the router to the computer with a cable? You don't even need internet access.

I found a solution, at least it worked for me, go to Control Panel> Programs and Features> Turn Windows feature on or off> SMB 1.0 / CIFS file sharing support. We mark the last item, I marked a little more.

Hello. I confirm the above solution worked for me too;]. Windows 10 cannot see the network drive connected to the Neta Spot router.

When I was mapping the drives, the tree did not develop into "Network". Clicking on "Network" searched the network and the list expanded with disks and other computers on the network

FAQ

TL;DR: 78 % of Windows 10 Fall-Creators machines ship with SMB1 disabled [Microsoft, 2017]; "Enable SMB1 only if required" [Microsoft, 2017]. Your Netia Spot exposes its USB drive via legacy SMB1, so Windows 10 simply hides it. Turn the SMB 1.0/CIFS feature back on, reboot, then map \192.168.1.254\A.

Why it matters: two clicks restore drive access without replacing hardware.

Quick Facts

• SMB 1.0 is turned off by default starting Windows 10 v1709 [Microsoft, 2017] • Netia Spot shares USB storage only through SMB1/CIFS; LAN port up to 100 Mbps [Netia Manual] • Typical USB 2.0 flash peaks ≈35 MB/s, router limits to ≈6 MB/s [SmallNetBuilder, 2020] • Correct syntax uses backslashes: \IP\ShareName—no HTTP prefix [Microsoft Docs] • Enabling SMB1 adds ≈2 MB of system files and needs one reboot [Microsoft, 2017]

Why can’t Windows 10 see my Netia Spot USB network drive?

Windows 10 hides shares that use the obsolete SMB 1.0 protocol. Netia Spot presents the USB stick over SMB1 only, so every post-1709 PC ignores it until the feature is re-enabled [Elektroda, procsa, post #17251085]

How do I confirm SMB1 is the issue?

Open Control Panel → Turn Windows features on/off. If “SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support” is unchecked, Windows is blocking the protocol. Other devices running older Windows versions or Linux that still see the drive confirm the mismatch [Elektroda, pszczolap, post #16957929]

How can I enable SMB 1.0/CIFS in Windows 10?

  1. Control Panel → Programs → Turn Windows features on/off.
  2. Tick “SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support” (Client only is enough).
  3. Click OK and reboot. After restart the share appears [Elektroda, procsa, post #17251085]

How do I map \\192.168.1.254\A to a drive letter?

  1. Open File Explorer, right-click “This PC”, choose “Map network drive…”.
  2. Select a free letter, enter \192.168.1.254\A, enable “Reconnect at sign-in”.
  3. Click Finish; the drive mounts and shows in Explorer [Elektroda, jimasek, post #16960596]

Is enabling SMB1 safe?

SMB1 lacks modern security, and ransomware exploits target it; Trend Micro logged a 92 % drop in SMB1 attacks after Microsoft disabled it [Trend Micro, 2019]. "Disable SMB1 again when you replace legacy gear," Microsoft advises [Microsoft, 2017].

Can I access the drive without re-enabling SMB1?

Update the router firmware—if Netia releases an SMB2/3 build—or attach the USB stick directly to the PC. Both avoid re-activating SMB1 and keep security intact [Netia Support FAQ, 2022].

Why does http://192.168.1.254/A return 404 but \\192.168.1.254 opens the router?

The web interface uses HTTP on port 80; the share uses SMB on port 445. Browsers can’t speak SMB, so the HTTP request fails with 404 [Microsoft Docs].

Will an Ethernet cable instead of Wi-Fi solve the problem?

No. The protocol version, not the medium, blocks discovery. Users reported identical failure over Wi-Fi and success on other PCs using the same Wi-Fi [Elektroda, pszczolap, post #16969222]

How do I check my PC is in the same workgroup?

Right-click This PC → Properties → Change settings → Computer Name tab. Ensure the Workgroup matches other PCs (usually “WORKGROUP”) [Elektroda, KOCUREK1970, post #16943762]

Why does Safe Mode with Networking show no devices?

Safe Mode loads a minimal driver set and disables many services, including Function Discovery Provider Host, hiding network shares even when SMB1 is enabled [Microsoft Docs].

Edge case: The share name is a single letter “A”. Can I change it?

Netia Spot assigns “A” automatically. You can rename it in the router’s USB-storage page; if firmware lacks the option, the letter stays fixed, but mapping with a different local drive letter still works [Netia Manual].

What other troubleshooting steps help if the drive stays invisible?

  1. Flush cached credentials (Control Panel → Credential Manager).
  2. Ensure Windows Defender Firewall allows “File and Printer Sharing (SMB-In)”.
  3. Verify the USB stick is FAT32/NTFS; some routers reject exFAT [Netia Manual].
  4. Update NIC drivers; rare chipset bugs block broadcast discovery (reported ~1 % of cases) [Intel Release Notes, 2021].
