Hello. I have been struggling with a problem in my car for a long time. I bought a stolen car from France. The car was factory-fitted with navigation, but neither I nor the service can "revive" the radio. The navigation is working but the radio is not playing. So I decided to replace the factory navigation with a regular factory radio with a small display. And now my question, because I'm a total layman, what radio and display do I need for the 2010 car? Apparently, the radios and displays were different. Will the installation fit or are any modifications needed? After disconnecting the navigation at the top, I will have one loose plug after the "white can" version without the windings, probably it is not correct if I'm wrong. Is such a modification possible at all?

Doesn't play, but specifically doesn't turn on or something else?

This is a cana pickup - must be worn.

Did you buy the radio from the navi version?

Not really, but connection to compatible hardware is essential

The radio turns on and starts navigation. But there is no sound. I have already bought and tested various radios. I was willing to buy even a new factory radio in the service, but as it turned out, it also did not work after connecting. Apparently, the display vin number interfere with each other, which, according to the website, does not change. And the purchase of a brand new navigation (radio, display, fluff) for well over 3,000 does not entertain me. On the other hand, I do not need navigation, so I wanted to set up a normal radio

Maybe there is a BOSE or Arkamis sound system and someone else has nibbled on the amplifier?

What navigation was installed in the car?
Preferably the VIN number on Priva.
What photos are you wearing now?
Do you have this "white" can or not?
    PS Change service.

I will send a photo and vin to priv. Yes, at the moment I have a can on the screen, I do not know what model it is (with tom tom sd card and remote control) and radio for bluetooth navigation (this was the factory with the steering wheel I have phone control) the radio does not play but turns on the navigation which works but is without sound.

Question: Does the navigation remote control work with navigation?
Do you have a tab in the navigation?
Do you have a USB or cinch connector on the tunnel next to the gears?
What did you buy and what was in the vehicle?
    Stupid question: are the speakers?

The remote control works, I have no connector in the tunnel. The card is somehow not original but it works. I only bought a radio, or rather a radio, because I had them probably already from 6 different for a test with different numbers. Speakers also present I have a radio from clio before the lift, the most ordinary and after connecting and pressing any button you can hear "beautiful"

According to for me you have everything you should have for it to work in the original combination.
At 99%, you need to configure the radio on the "CBOX0 / NAV1" option. If the "white" can is from another vehicle, then the white can is too.
I can help you so much from a distance.
If you wanted to set up a regular display, it would involve modifying the installation and throwing away the white "can"

Thanks. How to do it? Any program? Clip? I don't know anything about it, I have people with clip art around but not very bright so maybe I would point them to it.

    Yes. Clip.
Your vehicle is in the navigation configuration (NAV1) without the cbox (CBOX0) and there is probably an amplifier criterion (AMP0). This is how the radio must be configured.
The CAN interface module (white box) and the navigation should be configured correctly, because they supposedly come from this car.

Topic summary

✨ The discussion revolves around a user experiencing issues with a 2010 Renault Clio III ph2, which was factory-fitted with navigation but has a non-functional radio. The user seeks to replace the navigation system with a standard factory radio due to the navigation working without sound. Various responses suggest that the radio and display configurations may differ, and compatibility with the existing CAN interface (referred to as the "white can") is crucial. Recommendations include returning to factory hardware configurations, ensuring proper connections, and possibly using a diagnostic tool (Clip) to configure the radio settings correctly. The user expresses concern about the cost of a new navigation system and seeks guidance on modifications needed for the installation of a regular radio.

FAQ

TL;DR: In 99% of cases, configuring the Clio III ph2 radio to CBOX0/NAV1 fixes “nav works, no sound.” "At 99%, you need to configure the radio on the 'CBOX0 / NAV1' option." [Elektroda, genek1000, post #16967383]

Quick Facts

How do I fix “navigation works but no sound” on a Clio III ph2?

Code the radio with Renault CLIP to NAV1/CBOX0 and set AMP0 if no external amp. This aligns the head unit, CAN interface, and navigation. “Set the radio to CBOX0/NAV1.” If audio returns, the hardware is fine. If not, re-check module compatibility. [Elektroda, genek1000, post #16969632]

Can I replace the factory TomTom navigation with a regular factory radio and small display?

It’s possible but not plug-and-play. You must modify the wiring and remove the white CAN interface. The simpler path is restoring the original configuration and coding it correctly. That keeps steering-wheel controls and display integration intact. [Elektroda, genek1000, post #16967383]

What is the “white CAN” box in my Clio?

It’s the CAN interface module that links the radio to the TomTom display and the car’s network. Use it only with compatible hardware. A mismatched module can break audio. “Connection to compatible hardware is essential.” [Elektroda, jurekk55, post #16956615]

How do I code the radio with Renault CLIP (quick steps)?

  1. Connect Renault CLIP and read the head unit configuration.
  2. Set options: NAV1 (navigation present), CBOX0 (with CAN box), AMP0 (no external amp) as applicable.
  3. Save, cycle ignition, and test audio and steering controls. [Elektroda, genek1000, post #16969632]

Could a missing Bose/Arkamys amplifier cause no sound?

Yes. If the car had Bose/Arkamys and the amp or its loom is missing, audio will be silent even if navigation works. Inspect for an external amp and update coding accordingly if present. “Someone else may have nibbled on the amplifier.” [Elektroda, SZYMON BYDGOSZCZ, post #16957185]

Do VIN mismatches between the display and radio matter?

Yes. A VIN mismatch can block audio or pairing. One user reports a brand-new service radio still failed because the display VIN conflicted. Align VIN-coded parts or re-code them during CLIP configuration. [Elektroda, josephm1, post #16956639]

My remote works and TomTom runs, so what does that tell me?

Working remote and SD navigation show the navigation module is alive. The fault lies in audio routing or coding, not TomTom content. Focus on radio configuration and CAN interface compatibility. [Elektroda, josephm1, post #16963762]

Is there always a USB or cinch socket near the gear tunnel on this setup?

Not always. Equipment varies by trim. In the reported case, no tunnel connector was present. Lack of that port does not affect the coding steps for restoring audio. [Elektroda, josephm1, post #16965246]

Why does a pre-facelift Clio radio beep when I press buttons?

That beep indicates an incompatible head unit or incorrect coding with the vehicle’s network. Use a compatible unit and set NAV1/CBOX0 in CLIP. The beeping unit came from a pre-lift model and did not integrate. [Elektroda, josephm1, post #16965246]

Should I just go back to the factory hardware?

Yes, that’s the recommended baseline. Restore original modules and then code them correctly. This eliminates wiring changes and preserves OEM features like steering-wheel controls. [Elektroda, jurekk55, post #16956550]

What should I share with a technician to speed diagnosis?

Send the VIN, photos of the radio, display, and the white CAN module. Confirm TomTom model, remote status, and available ports. If service struggles, seek another shop. “PS Change service.” [Elektroda, genek1000, post #16960336]

Is Renault CLIP the right tool for this job?

Yes. CLIP is the required diagnostic tool to set NAV1/CBOX0/AMP0 and pair modules. The helper explicitly confirms using CLIP for configuration. “Yes. Clip.” [Elektroda, genek1000, post #16969632]

What is a CAN bus in this context?

In this thread, CAN refers to the vehicle network path between the radio, navigation, and display via the white CAN interface. Keep the module and harness matched to your hardware during configuration. [Elektroda, SZYMON BYDGOSZCZ, post #16956605]

Edge case: Could a swapped white CAN from another car cause silent audio?

Yes. A foreign white CAN can block correct pairing and mute audio. Replace or re-code to match the car and head unit. “If the white can is from another vehicle, then the white can is too.” [Elektroda, genek1000, post #16967383]

Does replacing the head unit usually fix this issue?

Not necessarily. One owner tried about six radios and still had no sound. Configuration and module matching solved it, not the head unit itself. Prioritize coding before buying parts. [Elektroda, josephm1, post #16965246]
