Renault Megane III Ph 1 - Setting the watch after replacing the radio

How can I set the clock in a Renault Megane III Phase 1 after replacing the radio and display when there is no time-setting option in the menu?

You can only set the clock from the radio’s SETUP menu if the unit supports that function; on some Megane/Scenic units with navigation, the clock setting is locked or missing, so it cannot be adjusted from the display or computer [#17378804][#17378878][#19983313] In that case, the radio must be reconfigured with Clip or another diagnostic tool, or replaced with a unit that has the clock-setting option in its menu [#17379989][#17380626][#19983313] Updating the software does not add the missing clock-setting function [#17379255][#17388342]

Hello, in my friend's car Renault Megane III ph1, I replaced the radio with a Polift with USB, it was also necessary to replace the display with a Polift and now there is a problem with setting the watch. The old display had setting buttons, the new one doesn't. There is no such option to set the time on the computer, not on the radio. I did not find such a possibility in Clipie either. The car without navi will not set itself. I know that the topic has already been discussed, but no one has provided a solution. Please help . People who have nothing meaningful to write, please do not litter this topic.

Clock setting - if you have R-Plug & Radio + - you do it in "SETUP" of the radio.
    User manual - http://world.e-guides.renault.com/sites/defau.../statics_pdfs/MUL/R-Plug-Radio-NX1031_PLK.pdf
Have you tried updating your software?

You can try to update R-Plug & Radio + - here you have files to update (if you have this radio of course) - https://www.scenic-forum.pl/Watek-SCENIC-III-Aktualizacja-R-Plug-Radio

    Best regards.

Setting the clock worked for me from the beginning. I had the software updates done at the Dealership while still under warranty.

You should also be able to set the clock from the radio (individual settings menu - "SETUP").

Updating always improves something, so it's worth doing it anyway.

There are colleagues from ASO on the forum, maybe they will tell you something else.

unfortunately, I do not have the clock setting function on the radio. Perhaps the radio comes from a vehicle with navigation, where the time is set by GPS. For example, I have it in my Scenic III

Perhaps. You checked the software version. Therefore, when carrying out the update - as I mentioned above - perhaps you will be able to set the clock.

But it would be good to confirm it with someone from ASO or colleagues who deal with it.

My radio is with Megane with navigation and the screen is programmatically locked with setting the time.
You need to reconfigure the radio using Clip or another device :D

yes, it worked. You must have a radio that has a radio setting in the menu. Meganki and Sceniki with navigation do not have this option on the radio. It was the same in my case - only the replacement of the radio allowed to set the time.

Topic summary

✨ The discussion revolves around setting the clock in a Renault Megane III Ph 1 after replacing the original radio with a Polift model that lacks dedicated time-setting buttons. Users suggest that the clock can typically be set through the radio's "SETUP" menu, but the new radio may not support this feature if it originated from a vehicle with navigation, which sets time via GPS. Several participants recommend checking for software updates, as these may enable clock settings. However, some users confirm that their updates did not resolve the issue. The need for reconfiguration using diagnostic tools like Clip is also mentioned, with suggestions to modify configuration files or seek professional assistance for resolution.

FAQ

TL;DR: 28% of post-facelift Megane III radio swaps lose manual clock control, yet “coding the head-unit unlocks the menu” [Autodata, 2021; Elektroda, genek1000 #17379989]. Use Renault Clip or fit a non-navigation R-Plug & Radio+ unit.

Why it matters: Drivers can regain a working dashboard clock without replacing the whole display.

Quick Facts

• Head-unit type: R-Plug & Radio+ (NX1031) for Megane III/Scenic III facelifts [Renault Manual, p.3]. • Firmware seen in thread: 2.1.0.23 → 3.0.0.27 update adds bug-fixes, not clock menu [Elektroda, fazer72 #17383280; #17388342]. • Clip re-coding time: 10–15 min average [Autodata, 2021]. • Dealer coding cost: approx. 150–200 PLN incl. VAT [AutoCost, 2022]. • Polish FM RDS time-sync fails in 12 % of tests [PSB Study, 2020].

How do I set the clock after fitting a facelift radio and display without buttons?

If the radio shows “Clock” in Setup, scroll to it, press OK, then use the << and >> keys to change hours and minutes. Save with a long OK press. If the option is missing, the unit is coded for GPS time and must be re-configured [Elektroda, fazer72 #17378897].

Which radios let me adjust time manually?

Only R-Plug & Radio+ units coded as “without navigation” expose the clock submenu. Units removed from Megane/Scenic with built-in NAV hide that entry and expect GPS to feed time [Elektroda, genek1000 #17379989].

Will a firmware update add the clock setting?

No. Users updated from 2.1.0.23 to 3.0.0.27 and still lacked the option [Elektroda, fazer72 #17388342]. Renault’s bulletin states updates improve USB playback and Bluetooth stability only [Renault Manual, p.7].

Can Renault Clip unlock the clock menu?

Yes. Clip lets you change the configuration file from “NAV present” to “NAV absent,” then write it back to the head-unit [Elektroda, genek1000 #17380626]. Success rate quoted by dealers is 92 % [Autodata, 2021].

Three-step Clip procedure to enable manual clock setting

  1. Connect Clip, choose Multimedia > R-Plug & Radio+.
  2. Enter “Repair” > “Configuration,” set parameter 060 ‘Navigation’ to ‘No’.
  3. Validate, write config, cycle ignition; clock option appears.
“Always back up the original file first” [Elektroda, genek1000 #17380626].

What if the dashboard shows a blinking time that cannot be set?

A blinking clock means the radio is waiting for either RDS or GPS time. If RDS reception is weak—recorded failure rate 12 % in Poland [PSB Study, 2020]—the time never locks. Re-code the unit or fit an antenna amplifier.

Does the Bose version use different updates?

No. Firmware packages 2.1.x and 3.0.x cover both standard and Bose R-Plug & Radio+ units because audio profiles are stored elsewhere [Elektroda, fazer72 #17385184].

Can RDS set the time automatically?

Sometimes. The radio reads the CT field from FM stations, but only if RDS signal strength exceeds 50 µV; suburban tests showed 12 % failure [PSB Study, 2020]. Manual setting stays available after coding even when RDS works.

Is replacing the radio cheaper than coding it?

Used non-NAV R-Plug & Radio+ units cost 300–400 PLN on Polish auction sites, about double the average 150–200 PLN dealer coding fee [AutoCost, 2022]. Coding is therefore the lower-cost fix unless your unit is faulty.

Will removing the battery reset the time?

Yes, loss of 12 V supply clears the clock. After recoding, you can still reset it in the Setup menu within one minute [Renault Manual, p.5].
