Hello, the win system 10 started to behave strangely, the explorator did not work sometimes the start button, so I wanted to put the system up again. The new laptop is 2 months old. Unfortunately, the attempt to format the disk while installing Windows was unsuccessful. Apparently it appears with success, but nothing happens, the disks can not be removed either. I tried in konosli clean and clena all (- here it crashed an error that I do not have permission somehow) to write with zeros, also nothing. When I exit the installation, the old browser normally boots up. I tried to format the same on linux - nothing. I will add that I also checked the disk for bad sectors and at the beginning of the disk it found around 60. The disk has some strange name (when I check in the system) as if it lost it in some way. Anyone know how I can fix it? I've been sitting on it the other day looking for some programs to do this, but none has worked so far.

Welcome. With this amount of information - replace the drive with a good one.

And if you want to write - enter the disk model and insert its SMART, enter the laptop model or if it is a desktop computer, at least a motherboard model - you can debate what to do with it. With this amount of information, any discussion of your problem doesn't really make much sense.

We only know that you want to install Windows 10, it is not known on which computer, it is also known that you have a damaged disk, but it is not known what - it is not known what the degree of damage is. So what do you expect? :)

Thanks a lot for your interest! The laptop is a Lenovo 310-15isk, I have no idea what the disk motel has because now I will not find it because it displays as the name SATAFIRM S11. Tell me how to find this SMART?
Currently trying to reset the entire disk with Ubuntu because apparently it is one of the ways to fix bad logical sectors. I do this with sudo dd if = / dev / zero of = / dev / sda bs = 8M

Generally, at the beginning it was a problem that the installer saw the disk as GPT, so I converted it to MBR. Maybe it damaged it, I don't know, but when I try to install on the largest win10 partition, something said that there may be problems because something is wrong with the file system or something similar. When I'm done with linux I will write it exactly.

Under ubuntu SMART you will display the command:
    sudo smartctl -a / dev / sda

If it doesn't find this command, you'll need to install smartmontools (sudo apt-get install smartmontools).

You can get information about the disk by entering the command: sudo hdparm -iI / dev / sda (the minus is two letters I like Irena - small and large).

Ultimately, the drive model can be read from its label. You have a disk from new? How much has he lived?

Identifying the model as SATAFIRM S11 looks like corrupting the firmware of this drive, but wait for a second opinion. This is the drive with the Phison PS3111-S11 controller.

If so, is the drive under warranty?

Damaged disk - if there is "dialect", give it back.

In general, the entire lenovo laptop is under warranty, it probably also applies. Although it's Lenovo, you never know. Has anyone ever returned a laptop like this? And one more thing, that this old windows really boots without any problems and it is possible to work on it. It's not like that old widnows somehow magically secured the disk against modification? Because on it I can delete files and on other systems the disk is read-only.

Yes, as long as they do not diagnose a mechanical fault.

Topic summary

A user is experiencing issues installing Windows 10 on a 2-month-old SSD, identified as SATAFIRM S11, in a Lenovo 310-15ISK laptop. The installation fails during disk formatting, and attempts to clean the disk using both Windows and Linux result in errors, including bad sectors detected on the drive. The user has tried various methods, including converting the disk from GPT to MBR and using the `dd` command in Ubuntu to reset the disk. Responses suggest that the drive may have firmware corruption and recommend checking the SMART status for further diagnostics. The user is considering warranty options for the laptop and is uncertain if the existing Windows installation is preventing modifications to the disk.
