    Hello!
    On the TV, the backlight and the voice turn on, but there is no picture. VES315WNVS-01-B matrix, 17MB82S motherboard, 17IPS19-5 power supply. The voltages from the power supply are fine, i.e. 24V, 12V, 5V, 3.3V. The voltage on the T-Con (on the fuse) is 12V, i.e. no 5V voltage and I wonder what it is based on, because I do not have a diagram. SM4108 and 24C64WP are sitting there, on which there is no power. If possible, please give me a hint in this matter. Best regards.

    I found a CD25 capacitor on the t-con board and after desoldering the voltages came back but I don't know what to put in because I don't know the value of this capacitor. I can not replace the t-con either because it is an integral part with the panel. Maybe someone will suggest what value can be assumed?

    What do you have at hand? 1uF? 10uF?
    And how would you move your head and look "in the vicinity" for a comparable, take it out, measure it? ;)

    There is no datasheet for this QFN-88 pin SM4108 chip

    Usually it rains C connected to pin 1 of this system, unless it is responsible e.g. for:
    - for example VONE as is in layout. with Q3 transistor (pnp ala BD140 / ZTX)
    * (or HAVDD)

    Orion 32LBT731 TV: No Picture, Backlight & Audio - VES315WNVS-01-B, 17MB82S, 17IPS19-5 Issue
    * with t-con 320CODESIGNS4LV0.2 for VES315WNDS-01 matrix
    * the same SM4108 is on
    - T-con 1CA320AP18S4LV0.1 for matrices: LTA320AN01, or its "analog" TCL LVW320SSTM E1
    - TA320AP05 matrix and T-con: A320AP20S4LV0.4

    You have to look at the solutions of other systems. DC-DC SM41xx, something was written in this forum
    Or similar as DC-DC, e.g. TPS65161, CM501

    Draw on a piece of paper the layout of work with this C (damaged) and by analogy

    ps
    Damage with T-con on this SM4108 is
    - usually there is backlight, no image or pin lines on the screen, or a horizontal duplicate image, milky image (image content visible behind a transparent white curtain),
    sample voltages from the LTA320 matrix ...
    VIN = 11.9V
    VCC = 3.25V
    VDD1 = 3.25V
    VDD1L = 3.25v
    VONE = 27.8V - up to 29.7V
    VOFFE = (-8.9v) with a minus
    AVDD = 15.8 - up to 16.5V
    HAVDD = 7.8V
    VCOM usually around 1/2 worth (AVDD)
    - made on a separate IC SOP10-pin (2x 5pin) code: 043z that is ISL45043IRZ

    Probably it is not a single case that the CD25 has such logic because I found the same only in the Toshiba 32W3433.

    Bonjour, j'ai utilisé un transistor d'une carte matricielle similaire, mais je ne me souviens plus s'il s'agissait d'un transistor NPN ou PNP. Cordialement.

Topic summary

✨ The Orion 32LBT731 TV exhibits a fault where the backlight and audio function, but no picture is displayed. The TV uses a VES315WNVS-01-B matrix, 17MB82S motherboard, and 17IPS19-5 power supply. Power supply voltages (24V, 12V, 5V, 3.3V) are correct, but the T-Con board lacks the 5V supply on the fuse line. The T-Con contains an SM4108 chip and 24C64WP memory, both unpowered. Investigation revealed a faulty capacitor labeled CD25 on the T-Con board; desoldering it restored voltages. The capacitor value was unknown, but a 5µF replacement was used successfully. Additionally, the Q3 transistor (a PNP type similar to BD140/ZTX) was found defective and replaced. After these repairs, the TV restored full picture functionality. Similar capacitor issues were noted in Toshiba 32W3433 models. Queries about the Q3 transistor designation "O28" remain unresolved.

FAQ

TL;DR: Fix Orion 32LBT731 no-picture by swapping CD25 (~5 µF) and checking Q3; VONE ≈29 V; "ceramics at 4.7–5uF". For Vestel panels VES315WNVS-01-B with SM4108 T‑Con. [Elektroda, lisek, post #17164130]

Why it matters: This targets DIY techs fixing backlight‑on/no‑image faults on Vestel‑based 32-inch TVs without a schematic.

Quick Facts

How do I fix an Orion 32LBT731 that has backlight and sound but no picture?

Check the T‑Con. Replace the CD25 capacitor with about 5 µF ceramic. Then test Q3 for a short and replace if faulty. This combo restore rails and image. One repair reported success after swapping CD25 (5 µF) and a stuck Q3. Verify picture returns after these parts. [Elektroda, gregor22, post #17171842]

What value should I use for the T‑Con capacitor labeled CD25?

Use a ceramic around 4.7–5 µF. An expert notes, “they usually stand ceramics at 4.7–5uF”. This value stabilizes the VONE line around 28–30 V on SM4108 designs. If space allows, match the original package and voltage rating. [Elektroda, lisek, post #17164130]

What is Q3 on this T‑Con, and what’s a safe replacement?

Q3 is a PNP transistor used in the VONE generation path. Use a PNP in the BD140/ZTX class as a functional equivalent. Match pinout and ensure adequate voltage and current ratings. Replace if shorted to restore the panel rails. [Elektroda, lisek, post #17164130]

My Q3 is marked “028.” What part number is that exactly?

The “028” top code is not a universal part number. Treat Q3 as a PNP device in the VONE switch role. Use a BD140/ZTX‑class PNP or transplant from a donor T‑Con with matching pinout and footprint. [Elektroda, lisek, post #21603557]

Can I diagnose a shorted CD25 without a schematic?

Yes. Desolder CD25 and re‑check the T‑Con rails. If voltages return, CD25 was shorted. Replace it with the correct value afterward. This isolates the fault quickly when only 12 V is present at the T‑Con input. [Elektroda, gregor22, post #17163518]

What voltages should I read on the T‑Con with SM4108?

Typical readings: VIN ≈11.9 V, VCC ≈3.25 V, VDD1 ≈3.25 V, VONE ≈27.8–29.7 V, VOFFE ≈−8.9 V, AVDD ≈15.8–16.5 V, HAVDD ≈7.8 V, and VCOM ≈½ AVDD. These confirm DC‑DC rails are up. Deviations point to CD25/Q3 or SM4108‑rail issues. [Elektroda, lisek, post #17164130]

What symptoms indicate SM4108/T‑Con rail issues besides no picture?

Expect backlight on with no image, vertical pin lines, horizontal duplicate images, or a milky white overlay with content faintly visible. These are classic panel‑rail anomalies when SM4108 outputs or their filters go bad. [Elektroda, lisek, post #17164130]

What 3 steps will get my picture back fast?

  1. Measure T‑Con: confirm 12 V present, panel rails missing.
  2. Replace CD25 with ~5 µF ceramic.
  3. Test and replace shorted Q3, then verify image returns. [Elektroda, gregor22, post #17171842]

Are my PSU rails relevant here?

Yes. Verify the 17IPS19‑5 outputs first. If 24 V, 12 V, 5 V, and 3.3 V are correct, the fault shifts to the T‑Con. That was the case in this repair, leading to CD25/Q3 on the panel side. [Elektroda, gregor22, post #17161762]

After replacing parts, what VONE should I see?

Measure around 29 V on VONE with the new CD25 and a good Q3. This indicates the boost rail is stable and the panel can drive the image correctly. [Elektroda, gregor22, post #17164495]

Does this fault show up on other models like Toshiba?

Yes. A similar CD25 failure was reported on a Toshiba 32W3433 set that shares the panel family. The same diagnostic and capacitor replacement approach applies. [Elektroda, lsznura, post #19164255]

Which ICs are on this T‑Con, and what do they do?

The SM4108 (QFN‑88) generates the panel rails (e.g., AVDD, VONE, VOFFE). VCOM is often set by an ISL45043IRZ (marked 043z). The EEPROM 24C64WP stores panel data. These components define image power and bias conditions. [Elektroda, lisek, post #17164130]

Can I replace the T‑Con board separately on this panel?

No. The T‑Con is integrated with the VES315WNVS‑01‑B panel. Repair the components in place. That is why CD25 and Q3 part‑level fixes are preferred on this model. [Elektroda, gregor22, post #17163518]

Why is there 12 V on the T‑Con fuse but no 5 V or panel rails?

The T‑Con’s DC‑DC stage is not producing rails due to a fault. A shorted CD25 can clamp VONE and disable other outputs. Remove CD25 to test; if rails return, replace it with the correct value. [Elektroda, gregor22, post #17163518]
