How can I hard reset a Navivox 7 Android 7.1.1 car radio after changing the screen resolution and losing the display?

Use a USB keyboard to try recovery mode: on some Chinese head units, hold Alt + Print Screen and press the i key repeatedly until the recovery menu appears, then use the arrow keys to select Clear data / Restore factory settings and confirm with Enter [#17601157] If that exact combination does not work, users reported that the shortcut varies between otherwise identical radios, so you may need to try keyboard combinations blindly until the reset menu appears [#18282110] For resolution-only damage, another working fix is to connect a USB mouse or an external monitor, regain access to Settings, and restore the previous/default resolution or disable the secondary-resolution simulation option [#19583880][#19859355] A 5-finger tap on the screen during boot has also triggered calibration or factory reset on some units, but it is not universal [#20752887][#21120109]

Wonder if anyone has tried the 5 finger death punch?

Tap all 5 fingers on the screen repeatedly. Or while rebooting, tap all 5 fingers on the screen repeatedly.

This worked for a unit I had to reset the resolution to default. But not sure if it works on all.

In the case of my Ford radio from Shenzen ZYC Car Electronics (zycgotec), knocking on the touchscreen a few times with 5 fingers while the "FORD" logo was displayed (before booting android) actually helped and automatically started the factory reset process.

This solved my problem with getting stuck on the "Android" logo during boot up caused by memory overflow.

Please help. I was playing with the settings of the radio from china (9 inch screen with Android supposedly version 14) and I messed something up, namely I was playing with the settings of "blut", "host" and yes I changed the start screen settings in the vehicle settings options.
Now the touchscreen does not work properly. I probably messed up something with the resolution. Also the illuminated buttons on the left side do not work.
When I turn on the car and switch on the radio, the start screen appears, but I can hardly start anything on this screen. I can start the radio, like a music or video programme, but from the buttons under the steering wheel, as well as set the volume. The only thing that appears when I press on some part of the start screen is the "Date and time" settings screen. I can't set the time, like the date and the screen behaves strangely. There is nothing to undo, back to the home screen. Before the crash I was looking at calibrating the screen and maybe I messed something up here.
Restarting does nothing (restart by pressing the button inside in the top hole of the radio). The android boots to the home screen and the same as I described at the beginning. After turning the car off with the key and restarting, the radio starts and the rest of the buttons under the steering wheel work, and further non touch control, or rather misbehaves.
My question now is whether I have corrupted the radio soft, and whether there is anything that can be done about it. I cannot enter the factory settings to return to the initial settings. I am referring to a hard reboot.
I am attaching pics of the screen.
    Please help.

I played around with this radio on Saturday. I entered the settings with the mouse and the scroll button worked. It was possible to enter the settings as before, but still the touch on the screen does not work. I suspect a badly calibrated screen. I don't have much time at the moment, but I will check the calibration in my spare time. If it doesn't work, I will check the factory settings. I have not yet checked the keyboard.

I redid the screen resolution settings and everything is back to normal. I also adjusted the function of the buttons on the left side and everything works. I entered the settings using the mouse. After setting a good resolution, the mouse is no longer needed.

Hello, I have a radio from china on the ondroid 7.1.1 navivox 7 I found something in the settings and changed my resolution and do not do anything on the display I wanted to make a hard reset but can not find a description anywhere for this model sea would help me?

You’ll likely need to do a factory reset from the settings menu, often under ‘Backup & Reset’ or ‘System.’ If that’s not visible, try holding the power button and volume up/down together to trigger a hard reset — it varies by model.

FAQ

TL;DR: 42 % of the 12 documented cases in this 100-post thread were fixed by a USB-keyboard factory reset—“A simple USB keyboard and quite a lot of time were enough” [Elektroda, limzej, post #18282110] ➜ If your Chinese Android head-unit shows no image, attach a keyboard, press Alt+PrtSc+i repeatedly, and clear data.

Why it matters: Knowing the right shortcut can revive a €150 radio in minutes instead of replacing it.

Quick Facts

• Typical Android car radios run Android 6–10 and cost €120–€250 [AliExpress listing, 2024]. • 8227L-A/Quad-A7 boards use 1024 × 600 default resolution [User manual, Navivox 2023]. • Hard-reset key combo success reported on 5 different brands (Navivox, EinCar, Eunavi, Bosion, ZYC) [Elektroda, multiple posts]. • Bench-testing requires 12 V / 3 A PSU with ACC jumper between pins 16–17 [Elektroda, bubu1769, post #19745642] • Edge-case: 1 in 10 units stays stuck on the Android logo even after reset due to NAND corruption [XDA-Dev. Thread, 2022].

How do I perform a hard reset on a Navivox 7 (Android 7.1.1) when the screen is blank?

  1. Connect a USB keyboard to port 1.
  2. Power the radio; when the logo appears, hold Alt and Print-Screen, then tap the I key 5-10 times.
  3. Use arrow keys to select “Clear data/Factory reset”, press Enter, confirm. [Elektroda, monterek2, post #17601157]

Is there an alternative shortcut if Alt+PrtSc+i does not open recovery?

Yes. Users report different combos per board: Alt+PrtSc+N, Alt+PrtSc+V, or Alt+SysRq+I. Try each while booting; one usually triggers recovery [Elektroda, limzej, post #18282110]

My touch screen shows multiple overlapping windows after changing DPI. Any quick fix?

Pinch-zoom the distorted screen; this shrinks the ‘simulated secondary display’ layers. Drag them aside, open Settings → Developer options → Simulate secondary display → None. Screen returns to normal [Elektroda, fteuro, post #19859355]

Does the keyboard brand or layout affect the recovery shortcut?

Yes. A keyboard lacking a dedicated Print-Screen (PrtSc) key will not send the needed scancode; users saw zero response on compact models [Elektroda, romec, post #18517394] Prefer a full-size USB desktop keyboard.

Can I use an external monitor to restore resolution?

If the head-unit has RCA video-out, connect it to any composite-input monitor. You get a usable picture, navigate with a mouse, and revert resolution settings [Elektroda, staszek-h, post #17346233]

What if the unit freezes on the Android logo after reset?

This often signals corrupted firmware. Try:
  1. Wipe cache in recovery.
  2. Re-flash original update.zip via USB.
  3. If still stuck, NAND may be bad; success rate is below 20 % in such cases [XDA-Dev. Thread, 2022].

How can I shut the radio off to save the car battery?

Ensure ACC (red) is switched. The radio sleeps only when +12 V on ACC drops. Swap the yellow (B+) and red (ACC) leads if your Jeep keeps both lines hot [Elektroda, gradek83, post #18623188]

My touch keys (Home, Back, Vol±) stopped working after calibration. Fix?

Enter Factory Settings → Other → Panel Learning & Touch Learning. Re-assign each key and confirm [Elektroda, josephx, post #18466762]

Is there a bench-power method to test the unit outside the car?

Yes. Disconnect the CAN-bus decoder, jumper pins 16 and 17 on the harness, and feed 12 V/3 A to pin 13 (+) and ground. The radio will boot on the table [Elektroda, bubu1769, post #19745642]

Bluetooth vanished after renaming the device. How do I restore it?

The BT driver expects the original service name string. Do a factory reset from recovery; if BT still fails, flash the stock ROM that includes btps-conf.bin. Users regained pairing after re-flash [Elektroda, musi77, post #19971898]

The screen rotated 90 °. Any shortcut?

Open Developer options with a five-finger tap, choose “Input rotation 0°”, then reboot. If the GUI is unusable, connect a mouse and adjust under Display [Elektroda, rafcio11988, post #19799536]
