Hello. My problem is that I can't connect to the camera, it is connected directly to the computer with a cable.
Immediately after the purchase for the first week, it worked normally, but I had to disconnect it from the power supply for several days and there has been a problem since then.

I reset the camera according to the instructions, set a new password, but when I try to connect using the iVMS-4200 program, the following message appears:

"c HCNetSDK.dll [7]. (Connection to the device failed. The device is offline or network communication timed out)

I also cannot enter the camera through the browser by entering the camera's IP.
The diode in the camera is on, also on the power supply, I also changed the cable, but nothing helped.
I am asking for help, any advice or tips on what to do. Thank you :)

    192.168.1.103 - Computer
192.168.1.64 - Such a camera shows me in the program

Only I disconnect the cable from the computer with internet and connect the camera directly to the computer

I bet that if you unplug your computer from the router, your computer will lose its IP address.
Is the camera on your 12V power supply?
    Option 1.
Set your computer's permanent address, e.g. 192.168.1.103 and check if you can log in to the camera via the browser.
If you succeed, remove the camera in IVMS settings and add it again in this program.
    Option 2.
Connect your computer to the router and also a webcam. Check if you connect the computer with the cam.

The camera menu was successfully accessed. I changed the ip address of my computer's network card to a permanent one and it helped.

By the way, I would like to ask for help in the matter of providing remote viewing of the camera image.

I connected the camera to the router, changed its ip to 192.168.2.64 (router 192.168.2.1), everything is ok, but I do not know how to route ports on the router (D-Link 615).

I changed the ports on the camera to those recommended by the manufacturer

And in the router I redirected the ports

I am not sure if I did everything right, because I will not see the external IP address in the camera in the NAT tab.

Anyone know how to deal with this? :)

Remember that when you set up a redirection, you can only check the operation from an external IP address.

Maybe a friend wants the image to load faster and have remote access to camera parameters :)

I just mean remote access to the camera from any other device except the home with Internet access.

I close the topic. I used Hik Connect and everything flashes.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around a connectivity issue with the HIKVISION DS-2CD2142FWD-IWS camera, which fails to connect via the iVMS-4200 software and web browser after being disconnected from power. The user initially resolved the issue by setting a static IP address for their computer, allowing access to the camera's menu. Further complications arose when attempting to set up remote viewing after connecting the camera to a router and changing its IP address. Participants suggested checking IP configurations, ensuring proper power supply, and using port forwarding on the router for external access.
