Hi. I have a problem with my Krups EA 8160 Coffee Maker, the water instead of pouring into the cup pours into the drainer, the service replaced the Piston and it worked for about a month, I bought a new Piston myself and it was ok for a fortnight, I replaced the Piston under warranty and after two days the same thing. What is wrong with this Express????

Determine where the water is getting into the drip tray. Then it will be known what to replace.

As a colleague above - define where the water is coming from ..

And I would like to ask for information - what kind of piston was replaced and for what reason, ie "blindly" whether it was damaged and, if necessary, how it was damaged.

This is the piston, and in my opinion it is also a kind of filter. Its operation is based on the fact that, after grinding the coffee, it presses the coffee in the brewing unit, and then the brewed coffee flows through the strainer in it, which when everything is ok goes to the cup. Unfortunately, this has not happened recently, so as a layman in these matters, I gave the machine to the repair point, at this point this piston was replaced and again for less than two months I enjoyed coffee, but the problem repeated, I ordered a new piston and replaced it myself 2 weeks and the problem returned, I replaced the plunger under the warranty and after two days the problem returned again. I do not know how or why the water flows to the drainer and does not flow through the brewing unit and the plunger filter into the cup. Despite the fact that after dismantling the plunger and starting the coffee machine, water flows out of the brewing unit and after installing the plunger it behaves as if it did not get there at all, because the coffee is removed dry by the machine.

    Something's wrong..
This pressing piston must not be the cause of a malfunction.
But it's hard to tell without examining it.

Probably the problem lies either in the double-barreled valve or in the pump valve.

    As my colleague suggests above.
You need to make a coffee on a running coffee machine and see where the water "escapes". There may be 3 roads in total :D
You just have to be very careful, because not only can you get burned, but there is also access to live parts everywhere. If you have little or nothing to do with electricity, send it to a specific service that will find and remove the defect.

    >>17296335 Under this metal strainer is a valve. Often it clogs up this valve hole and the coffee will not fly.

The small seal under the strainer is the so-called cafe crema valve responsible for the foam in the coffee, it does not clog.
It is possible that the bottom seal of the piston (barista) is leaking and therefore there is not enough pressure.

As colleagues above wrote remove the housing and observe.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around a malfunction in the Krups EA 8160 coffee machine, where water is directed to the drainer instead of the cup. The user has replaced the plunger multiple times, both under warranty and independently, but the issue persists. Responses suggest diagnosing the source of the water leak, with recommendations to inspect the double-barreled valve or the pump valve as potential causes. Users emphasize the importance of careful examination during operation to identify where the water escapes, advising professional service if the user lacks electrical expertise.
