    Dear colleagues!

My private tumble dryer (Electrolux product number: 916 096 754 00) has failed - after starting the program, it starts the components (relay sounds /), but the drum does not rotate. The display and front panel work. Left alone, it finally displays the code E50.

I ran a test sequence (two keys) on the first program, the display, LEDs etc. are working.
The test sequence on the second program "flashes" in green-red error code 5E (5, 14), which as I understand in this type of equipment means a communication error with the engine control module.

I dismantled the dryer, took out the module and made a visual inspection. On the components page you can see the damage to the R118 resistor next to the rectifier bridge - no other damage is visible. On the bottom of the tile, everything is visually OK.

    Sticker from module:

    PCB sticker:

Someone suggest further steps? Check / measure something? Replace the resistor (for what?) Or maybe the reason lies elsewhere?

    Best regards,
    Krzysiek

    Please = SMD resistor R118 22? :D
Close-up of a PCB with SMD resistors, including R118 labeled as 220.

@ TONI_2003 - thanks for giving the resistor value.

Resistor replaced. Unfortunately, he didn't last long ...
After starting the program and closing the door, the resistor exploded before drying was started. Moments later, the red light came on and the E50.

I measured the resistance at the motor junction and it is ~ 20 ohms on all pairs.
I also measured 6 IGBTs - CE are not punctured, diodes opposing approx.
After charring the PCB, I think the failure of the resistor was much more violent this time.

    Best regards,
    Krzysiek.

    Hello
You have a faulty switching power supply, it probably is LNK304 or the like. Look for a chip with seven pins.

@ zibi1971 : indeed, the LNK364GN chip was faulty; I missed a visible crack on the side edge of the case. The resistor took the pads with it during the explosion, so I soldered the usual axial one.

After repair, the drum works. And on the well-known auction site there are even "repair kits": resistor + circuit - as you can see, this is a typical fault of these modules ...

Thanks again to everyone for your help!
