    Hi,

I wanted to add cruise control to the Volkswagen Golf 6. I replaced the left stalk switch with cruise control buttons. By VCDS Lite 1.2 I wanted to activate this equipment in the engine control unit. To connect to the engine control unit, I used the VAG KKL cable, previously used in the Volkswagen Polo III 6n2:

After correct initialization of the connection and switching to engine management, all buttons are inactive.

I decided to try the connection using the software VCDS Release 18.2 and VCDS APK 18.2 .
Unfortunately, in this software version I have a connection problem:

Do you know what my mistake is?

You need a HEX-CAN interface because with K-Line you will not do anything in this model.

Polo III and Golf VI is a technological gap ;)

I activated the cruise control in a nearby garage. IN VCDS v17.X the cruise control was activated by a code 11463 using the original HEX-CAN from Ross-Tech. Group 067 (there is a theory on the Internet that the cruise control is in the group 006, 022 or 066) was used to check the condition of the cruise control (brake, clutch, buttons on the combination switch / lever). While group 067 in VCDS sees the clutch and brake, unfortunately it does not see any buttons on the lever. Perhaps you should add some wire between the engine control unit and the cruise control lever - but what?

You don't think someone will guess what you broke down there?

    Diagram and check in turn.

Do you have such a schematic and could you share it here?

And did you check if your steering wheel module supports cruise control and is the cruise control encoded in this module?
The information about pressing the button on the cruise control lever is sent via CAN from the steering wheel computer to the engine computer.

What model of steering wheel module do you have?

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around the activation of cruise control in a Volkswagen Golf VI after replacing the left stalk switch with cruise control buttons. The user attempted to connect to the engine control unit using VCDS Lite 1.2 and a VAG KKL cable but encountered issues with inactive buttons. Suggestions from other users included the necessity of a HEX-CAN interface instead of K-Line for this model, and the importance of ensuring that the steering wheel module supports cruise control. One user successfully activated the cruise control using VCDS v17.X and provided a specific code (11463) for activation. There were also inquiries about wiring connections and the need for a schematic to troubleshoot the issue further.
