    Hello,

Since Thursday I have been the owner of the UPC 300 Mbs fiber and unfortunately from the very beginning there are problems with the ping, which jumps rapidly, which prevents me from loading pages, photos, watching streams and playing online games. The problem has already been reported to UPC, but the technician who came on Saturday has less knowledge than me, he did the tests according to instructions, saw with his eyes ping jumping after running it in EMCO Ping monitoring, he said there was nothing else he could do, and to contact him on Monday. He asked if I was looking for a solution to my problem somewhere on the Internet :D Yesterday he announced that he had talked to his colleagues and that I have a worm, his bad luck that I have two internet providers and on Orange 20 Mbs my desktop computer does not have a worm and when I switch to UPC it already has it, he set up a network monitoring and is to contact.
I have 14 days to withdraw from the contract, so I would like to ask people from the forum to review my signal strength projections so that I can prepare arguments when he comes to the site tomorrow. possibly any suggestion what can be done to prevent ping from jumping :)

Thank you in advance for your answer, best regards.

I don't really understand what you want to do - repair the connection, the operator's network? If the technician himself stated that it is wrong, what's the problem with advertising the service? How much do you want to have "hard" evidence, check on some other computer, or register here https://pro.speedtest.pl/, run the test in the indicated way to meet the conditions of the certified test and harass the supplier to the effect ..

The problem is that I have 8 days to give up the service by UPC without suffering any consequences, so I decided to write a topic because there is definitely a group of people here who have a lot of knowledge and maybe look at the screenshots of the signal strength from the modem and possibly will tell you something. If not, it will terminate the contract and that's it.
Thanks for the page sent, I entered, installed etc. but in my case it will not be useful because the speeds are ok, the only thing that goes crazy for me is jumping ping and I do not have to refer to the certified measurement to resign from the service.

The test also checks latency and latency variability, not just transfers ..
To fully assess the quality of the link, you need values that the modem does not provide. There are error counters, but how does this compare to the total number of packets sent, what is the history of increment, what is the load on the link and node at that time, etc. Provider probably has a slightly larger technical department than this one technician?

I would run a live from a PCB or USB flash drive (no matter Windows or Linux - with an indication of the latter because it has better network diagnostics) and check it for a new, 100% clean system. Just to eliminate one more variable and be sure that it is not a problem of a specific operating system (or even a specific installation). Then, in the next step - I would do the same, but on a different, borrowed laptop ... And then, of course, the results obtained in this way - as long as they coincide with what can be seen on the working system (i.e. on the Elevator), I would present to the next one technician / I would use it as the basis for further advertising the service failure.

I would agree with online games, but what does PING have to do with the rest?
The dBmV signal is a bit too high - it should be closer to 0, but there is no tragedy and it is within the DOCSIS standard.

    Do a certified test:
    https://pro.speedtest.pl/
And put the network measurement result here

What modemorouter from the operator, do you connect via wired or wifi?

    KOCUREK1970 thanks for your suggestion

Browsing only when something is loaded can jam. Comp connected via ethernet cable, modem conectbox

As for the problem with the operating system, I don't really think it's his fault because, as I wrote, the problem only occurs on UPC, when I switch to Orange, the problem disappears. Unfortunately, I don't have linux and I don't know how to check it on win10 by trying to reinstall the elevator?

That's why I'm asking what exactly is your problem with.
Ping only matters in online games, and pretty much nothing else.
And the problem of slow loading has nothing to do with pinging.

Try changing your computer's DNS servers to, for example, Google

No, I didn't mean any "messing around" or trying to reinstall it ... It's always a final necessity. I just meant to run a live system, that is usually from a bootable board - there are many solutions of this type, from the good knoppix (http://www.knoppix.org/) and even on Windows XP live / portable (on discs from hirensBootCD) ending - here it is only about launching such a system once (without installing it) checking how the network works (e.g. performing speedtest + launching - as it is in the system - some application that requires a lot from the network) saving the results / comparing them with the results on your system, i.e. Windows 10 and that's it.

But of course, this is not the only way, you can do just as well as other colleagues advise :)

    Regards

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around issues with high ping spikes (160-250 ms) experienced by a user with UPC's 300 Mbps fiber internet service. The user reports difficulties in loading pages, streaming, and online gaming, despite having a second provider (Orange) that does not exhibit these problems. A technician from UPC was unable to resolve the issue, attributing it to a potential worm, which the user disputes based on their experience with another provider. Participants suggest various troubleshooting steps, including running network diagnostics on different operating systems, checking modem signal strength, and changing DNS settings. The user is considering terminating the contract within the 14-day trial period if the issues persist.
