Hello. The problem is with inductive charging. I have purchased an induction adapter for a Samsung Galaxy A50. I put the phone on the charger with the previously connected adapter for the USB type C phone port and zero charging. On other phones, the arrow detects the adapter coil and charges other phones. Here is the problem as if something was blocked at the factory, because you can see that the adapter works with the charger. But not charging.

Not every wireless (NFC) charger works with every phone. I met ... In the service settings, disabling NFC is not ...
connect the meter and take a sample

NFC is not wireless charging. Samsung A50 does not have wireless (inductive) charging and that's about it.

Interesting, because external adapters for the phone do not differ from a regular charging adapter ... anyway, you yourself say that it works with another phone, so something your A50 is failing or the USB plug from the adapter. This is an adapter with a USBC cable, do you connect what you want? Maybe that's the problem. You can install some program showing the battery / charging status like AIDA64 or Device info and you will see if the adapter gives something to the charging socket / and is trying to charge.

and just turn off the NFC on the phone, maybe the NFC enabled in the phone, the charger cannot get along with the adapter and it will not recognize it then and will not turn on the charging.

This is a USB Type-C adapter, I even purchased a second one from another company and nothing. You can see that the adapter is trying to charge but nothing is happening on the phone. I will add that both adapters work without problems with other phones under USB type C. (ON / OFF NFC function does not change anything)

Have you tried to put the connected adapter but without the phone? I mean, that the phone is next to it, maybe some of its internal elements are dirtying something. The app I wrote about shows nothing? What about recharging?

Yes, I have tried many times to put the adapter alone and nothing. Check in the evening if something shows on the application

Well, apparently this phone does not have an adapter as a charger ... it is strange, but not impossible. I do not have A50, so I will not check it, but if you want to charge it with a regular USB-A -> USB-C cable, e.g. from a computer, does it work properly?

Yes, it works fine. It is possible that an installed update is blocking booting this way. I will check if loading via the adapter will show something in the application.

Added after 5 [hours] 13 [minutes]:

I launched the AIDA64 application, connected the adapter, no attempt to charge.

I have the same problem. I deduced that this may have a higher charge current than what my adapter is able to pass (charching voltage DC5V / 800mA). The previous A40 phone with a smaller battery was able to charge with this adapter without any problems. The A50 has a large battery and the maximum charging current is probably checked at the beginning - the source does not pass this test and charging does not start. A similar effect can be observed by connecting an old charger (charging current below 1A) to this phone. I was looking for a USB C adapter with a charging current of 2A - unfortunately to no avail :(

Topic summary

✨ The discussion revolves around an issue with inductive charging for the Samsung Galaxy A50 using a USB Type-C induction adapter. The user reports that while the adapter works with other phones, it fails to charge the A50. Responses highlight that the Galaxy A50 does not support wireless charging natively, and suggest potential issues with the adapter or phone settings. Suggestions include checking NFC settings, using diagnostic apps like AIDA64 to monitor charging attempts, and considering the charging current limitations of the adapter. The user confirms that the phone charges normally with a standard USB-A to USB-C cable, indicating the problem lies specifically with the inductive charging setup.

FAQ

TL;DR: Galaxy A50 has a 4000 mAh battery, but "Wireless charging: No," so Qi/induction add‑ons won’t be natively supported. This FAQ helps A50 owners asking "why won’t my phone charge wirelessly?" and what to try instead. [GSMArena, 2019]

Why it matters: It prevents wasted spend on incompatible adapters and clarifies NFC vs Qi for A50 owners.

Quick Facts

  • Galaxy A50 specs: 4000 mAh battery; Wireless charging: No; wired charging up to 15 W. [GSMArena, 2019]
  • Qi standard power: 5 W Baseline Power Profile; up to 15 W Extended Power Profile. [WPC, 2024]
  • NFC Forum Wireless Charging (WLC) delivers up to 1 W via NFC antennas. [The Verge, 2020]
  • Two USB‑C Qi receivers were detected by the pad but A50 never charged; NFC on/off made no difference. [Elektroda, Dabster01, post #18684615]
  • A 5V/800 mA receiver didn’t start A50; old <1 A USB chargers also failed to start charging. [Elektroda, kosiarek77, post #18941953]

Does the Samsung Galaxy A50 support wireless charging out of the box?

No. The official spec lists “Wireless charging: No.” The A50 also includes a 4000 mAh battery and 15 W wired charging. Wireless charging requires hardware that the A50 does not include. [GSMArena, 2019]

Will a USB‑C Qi receiver make my A50 charge on a Qi pad?

Tests with two different USB‑C Qi receivers showed the pad detecting a coil, yet the A50 never started charging. Both receivers charged other USB‑C phones. Turning NFC on or off made no difference on the A50. [Elektroda, Dabster01, post #18684615]

Is NFC the same as wireless charging on the A50?

No. “NFC is not wireless charging.” “Samsung A50 does not have wireless (inductive) charging.” Changing NFC settings will not add Qi charging capability. [Elektroda, plustek, post #18681111]

What is NFC Wireless Charging (WLC), and is it the same as Qi?

NFC WLC is a standard that enables charging up to 1 W using an NFC antenna. It is separate from Qi and targets low‑power accessories. [The Verge, 2020]

Why won’t my A50 start charging with a 5V/0.8A receiver?

One user observed a 5V/800 mA receiver failed to start the A50. An old USB charger below 1 A also failed to start charging the phone. The same receiver charged a Galaxy A40, but not the A50. [Elektroda, kosiarek77, post #18941953]

How can I test whether the phone even sees the Qi adapter?

Install AIDA64 or Device Info and monitor the battery/charging status as you place the phone on the pad. This shows whether the adapter feeds the charging socket or triggers any charging attempt. [Elektroda, n6210, post #18681173]

Does wired charging still work on the A50?

Yes. The user confirmed regular USB‑A to USB‑C charging works from a computer. Using AIDA64 with the USB‑C Qi adapter connected showed no charging attempt on the A50. [Elektroda, Dabster01, post #18684763]

Could a software update enable wireless charging on the A50?

No. Wireless charging needs a Qi coil and controller. The A50’s spec shows no wireless charging support, so a software update cannot add this hardware capability. [GSMArena, 2019]

What power output should my Qi pad have for testing?

Use a 5 W Qi transmitter for baseline compatibility checks. Pads supporting the Extended Power Profile go up to 15 W, but detection should occur at 5 W. [WPC, 2024]

How do I troubleshoot an A50 that won’t charge with a Qi adapter?

Try this:
  1. Install AIDA64 or Device Info to monitor charging state.
  2. Connect the USB‑C Qi adapter and place the phone on a Qi pad.
  3. If status never changes, the phone isn’t accepting power from the adapter. [Elektroda, n6210, post #18681173]

My charger detects the coil, but the A50 never charges. Why?

That indicates the transmitter sees a receiver coil, but the phone refuses to draw power. In this case the adapter worked on other phones, yet the A50 did not begin charging. [Elektroda, Dabster01, post #18679910]

I placed the adapter alone on the pad and nothing happens. Is that expected?

Yes in this reported case. The user repeatedly placed the connected adapter without the phone and saw no start. Attaching it to the A50 still did not trigger charging. [Elektroda, Dabster01, post #18684670]

Should I turn NFC off when testing a Qi receiver on the A50?

Turning NFC on or off made no difference in the reported tests. The A50 still refused to start charging with the USB‑C adapter attached. [Elektroda, Dabster01, post #18684615]

What are my practical options if the A50 still won’t charge wirelessly?

This thread provides no working method using USB‑C Qi receivers on the A50. Continue using wired charging, as confirmed to work, to avoid reliability issues. [Elektroda, Dabster01, post #18684763]
