    Hello, my friend has a problem with the antenna installation on Hotbird, namely the signal quality is low, which causes TVN channels to clip. However, the signal strength is good. 80 cm antenna, converter for 4 decoders, the same on each.
    What will help here? Replacing the coaxial coil, converter, do you need to adjust the antenna?

    Hello,
    I have an identical problem:
    https://www.elektroda.pl/rtvforum/topic3720803.html#18872970,
    I recently noticed that the signal strength = 68%, quality 67% and the decoder claims that there is no signal at the sat1 input, if left alone after 5-10 minutes it will eventually "catch" the signal and work properly for up to an hour.
    Regards

    Poorly positioned antenna, crooked antenna, poor converter.

    @andpol 33 possibly a bad coaxial cable.

    Due to frequent strong winds, the antenna may have been slightly moved, resulting in signal loss, and a slight deviation of the satellite dish is enough to cause the signal quality to deteriorate rapidly. It is also worth checking the cable ends at the converter for tarnishing, is the plug protected against moisture with a rubber band?

    The strength is good, so the cable probably falls off.

    Provide photos of the installation, location, etc. because it`s just a guessing game.

    A friend of mine had a SAT installer, he corrected the satellite positioning and, interestingly, he set the quality on the measuring device to 80%, and on the decoder it shows 48%. I know that each decoder has a different sensitive head, but how could there be such differences?

    Each decoder has differently written software. Premiumbox wifi shows the lowest quality (on average 20-25% less and often uneven on individual inputs). The most reliable readings were provided by N-ki decoders (turbo, media, soap boxes). The best number is that you can`t get 50% on premiumbox and the original 80, and on the hotline they always tell you that it must be at least 50%. :D

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around improving the signal quality of a Hotbird satellite dish installation, specifically for TVN channels. The user reports low signal quality despite good signal strength, using an 80 cm antenna and a converter for four decoders. Responses suggest several potential issues, including improper antenna positioning, a faulty coaxial cable, or a poor-quality converter. It is emphasized that even slight misalignments due to environmental factors like wind can significantly affect signal quality. Users also note that different decoders may report varying signal quality due to differences in software and sensitivity. Recommendations include checking the coaxial connections, ensuring proper antenna alignment, and possibly replacing the converter.
