Which 5G router to choose for a single-family home?

    Good morning,
Can anyone recommend a 5G router with a normal price? Play, I declare a download speed of up to 20 Gbit / s (by the way, what does it mean exactly to 20Gbs? Other 5G providers have ~ 3600Mbs) and propose a Huawei 5G CPE Pro 2 desktop router for PLN 1,320. I thought there was something cheaper on the market, but one of the computer stores writes about equipment for ~ PLN 2400 and it is also out of stock.
House on 2 floors and 160m2, I could put the device in the stairwell if it's a good idea.
How to find a router matching the Play offer? Ideally, it would be a mobile model. Do you have to be guided by the transmission speed and the presence of a SIM slot, or something else?
    Regards,
    Jack

First of all, buying a 5G router in a situation where none of the Polish networks offers this service is shooting a fly with a slingshot. Currently, there is pseudo 5G on frequencies shared with LTE and speeds cosmetically different. Before there is real 5G in Poland, it will be a few years and the prices of routers will be included in the price of LTE devices.
    Secondly:

It's best to lock it into the basement :-) . And seriously, the router is placed in the window of the room facing the transmitter, as long as the range is perfect. Usually the router goes to the attic, where a short cable (max 10m) connects external antennas aimed at the transmitter and matched to the bands supported by the transmitter and their load.
The range of the WiFi network at home is provided by the installation of additional access points connected by a UTP cable to the router in the attic.
Thirdly, if we are to advise something, we should provide the location and measurements of signal parameters using NetMonster and speedtests. Everything is done outdoors, preferably in the place where the potential antenna is installed. Details on how to take measurements can be found in every other topic about LTE on the electrode.

First of all, do not hide what the operators' consultants in this Play are saying because it is a load of nonsense. At the beginning, provide your location because the choice of operator, offer and equipment depends on it. In addition, tests at home on the phone, which operator do you use on the phone?

We have phones in Plus. So the speeds given by the operators are fake (?) I will take the measurements you write about and call me back.

Of course it's a fake. Every operator is lying face to face, only our consumer protection institutions are so clumsy. Does anyone else believe in advertising?
Plus, it is the only one that has a large 5G band that is not shared, but unfortunately the possibility of sending data to its transmitters lies and squeal.
Measurements must be made for all operators.

There are locations where some operators can be excluded immediately due to the fact that there are no base stations nearby or they are poor in LTE bands.
Plus, it has the highest speeds on 5G, but the number of base stations is still small, the N41 or TDD 2600MHz and the range on this band near these base stations, at a greater distance, an external antenna or 5g CPE is needed. The offer is expensive, but I would not condemn this operator to eat, Plus customers with a telephone subscription above PLN 50 have a discount of PLN 25.
Plus stations with 5G are sent on Fiber or high-speed radio links, but here you need a location first, this will allow you to try on Plus with 5G as well as to other operators.

The location is Gdańsk ul. Owls. I know that Plus works because I use it on the phone, but not on 5G. I understand that I should find out what the maximum speed is possible with different operators. NetMonster showed me for Plus as in the attachment. Indeed, it has not helped me at all and I am now at the starting point.

The plus point at this location is a bad joke, even on the phone. This operator is not taken into account at all. On the phone, there is a sufficient signal on this pseudo LTE900, BTS on the Sztutowska power pole, this is a station with LTE1800 + 900 aggregation, the same for Szpaki 13. On the latter, there is the 5G2600 license, but it does not work. On LTE900 you do not have a chance for normal internet, LTE1800 on 20MHz band works better, but the ass does not break off, the historic network of Plus on LTE without FDD LTE2600 will not provide you with normal performance there.
At the beginning, the Play test, which has BTS stations in the vicinity at Falka 3 and Rozłogi 11 stations with LTE2600 + 2100 + 1800 + 800 aggregation on 55MHz band, then Orange and T-mobile, on Rozłogi 11 station with LTE aggregation 2600 + 2100 + 1800 + 800 and on Sienna 48 3 bands without LTE800. Always outside test and screen from the app and speedtest, the same for Plus. Of course, you do not learn anything from the operators, Play has a range on the pseudo 5G2100 N1, DSS, so the 2100MHz band is dynamically shared with LTE2100.

Thanks for advance, from my point of view, info. Do I have to insert their card to test Play and then Orange and T-mobile? Because I added the Play operator in NetMonster in the 'Download' menu and the parameters in 'Live' are still displayed for Plus.

Play most often switches to LTE1800 from Falck. 1/4 speeds faster than Plus. You can catch LTE2600 from Pruszcz for a few seconds, but I won't be able to do the speed test. Is it possible to make a conclusion on the basis of the ones I enclose? Do you try to continue, for example, to look for a place where LTE2600 is stable, or to perform tests for other networks?

The test is always on one active card, haven't you healed with Plus yet? After all, this is a drama, at 9 am the LTE1800 band from Sztutowska is already overloaded and the signal parameters are quite weak. In the evenings it is a bottom and a meter of silt but I wrote about it right away. Play a weak signal at 2600MHz from the BTS on the Makro pylon, the speed is OK, a 4CC CA station with a 1107Mb / s radio link from the Modra 101 fiber optic node. without an external antenna, there is no need to count on much, BTS Rozłogi beyond the forest. Overall, PLAY has potential, test it to catch LTE2600. Of course, you do not give up on Orange and T-mobile because behind Martwa Wisła there are two NetWorks stations with 4 CC CA and there is good coverage in this direction. T-mobile now offers unlimited DL data up to 30/60 / 90Mb / s at nice prices with great equipment for half free but verified based on the location.
Of course, you exclude Plus, you can see for yourself what a mistake it is.

I found a place where I caught the best, I did speed tests for 4 operators, the best is T-mobile about 49Mbps (Plus 20, Orange 11, Play 2) so it was on Sunday morning. I did not do it on the same phone and Play describes the 100GB promotion not as "top speed internet". Maybe you have to repeat it to be reliable, or decide on T-mobile?

Does this unlimited 90 data offer have any disadvantages? I am asking because I have a B535 with 2xATK504 and on bts tmobile on which the 800,1800,2100 bands are available I pull up to 120Mb / s. All in all, it has been a long time since I have seen it with less than 90Mb / s. If I extend the contract on my equipment, do I understand that the transfer will drop to 90?
    Do they calculate it differently?
Seriously, you can download then and there will be no funnel?

The offer is unlimited actually. You can download as much as you want. You are limited to 90 Mbps. Download and upload. If you have 120 Mb/s on BTS, the speeds will drop to 90 Mb/s and they may be a bit higher.

FAQ

TL;DR: 90 Mbps cap; "You are limited to 90 Mbps." Test outdoors with NetMonster, aim for LTE2600 aggregation, and use external antennas before buying 5G gear. For Gdańsk ul. Sowy, prioritize T‑Mobile or Play after field tests. [Elektroda, piotrzet1, post #19541979]

Why it matters: This helps Polish single‑family homeowners choose the right operator, router, and antenna and avoid paying for underperforming “pseudo 5G.”

Quick Facts

Is a 5G router worth buying for a Polish single‑family home right now?

Not usually. Networks run “pseudo 5G” on LTE‑shared bands, so speeds differ little from LTE. “Currently, there is pseudo 5G on frequencies shared with LTE and speeds cosmetically different.” Real standalone 5G will take time and prices will drop. Focus on LTE with carrier aggregation and proper antennas. Buy 5G only if verified 5G coverage exists near you. [Elektroda, IC_Current, post #19525649]

Where should I put the router in a 160 m², two‑floor house?

Place it in a window facing the serving BTS; many install it in the attic. Run a short coax, up to about 10 m, to outdoor directional antennas matched to BTS bands. Then use wired access points for full‑home coverage. “The router is placed in the window of the room facing the transmitter.” [Elektroda, IC_Current, post #19525649]

How do I test which operator is best at my address?

Do outdoor field tests before buying equipment.
  1. Go outside where an antenna could sit, phone in hand.
  2. Use NetMonster to read bands and signal, then run speedtests.
  3. Repeat for each operator’s SIM, noting bands and throughput.
“Everything is done outdoors” to reflect the real radio path. [Elektroda, IC_Current, post #19525649]

Do I need each operator’s SIM for testing, and what about Play roaming?

Yes. Insert a SIM from Play, Orange, T‑Mobile, and Plus to test each network. On Play, disable domestic roaming during tests. That ensures you stay on Play’s own network and bands, avoiding misleading readings. [Elektroda, sebap, post #19527665]

Is T‑Mobile’s “unlimited” home internet truly unlimited, and how fast is it?

It is unlimited data. The 90 plan caps speed to about 90 Mb/s down and up. “You are limited to 90 Mbps.” Actual speeds can be slightly higher at times, but the cap applies. Expect your throughput to sit near that ceiling. [Elektroda, piotrzet1, post #19541979]

Which routers should I consider for T‑Mobile/Play in this scenario?

High‑class picks: Huawei B818 (4G LTE) and ZTE MC801A (5G/LTE); both have external antenna connectors. For difficult reception, consider outdoor CPE like ZTE MF258k, or the 5G ODU kit MC010 + MR286r. Choose based on tested bands and confirmed coverage. [Elektroda, matek451, post #19534959]

Is Plus a good choice at Gdańsk, ul. Sowy?

No. Reports from that location call Plus “a bad joke,” even on phones. It mainly serves LTE900 + LTE1800 aggregation there, which underperforms. A 5G2600 license exists on Szpaki 13 but was not active. Prefer Play, Orange, or T‑Mobile with multi‑band LTE aggregation. [Elektroda, matek451, post #19527539]

What is Play’s “pseudo 5G” on 2100 MHz, and does it help?

It’s DSS on n1, where 2100 MHz is shared dynamically with LTE2100. Capacity gains are modest because the same spectrum serves two technologies. Treat it as incremental, not transformational. Target LTE2600 plus aggregated bands for real speed increases. [Elektroda, matek451, post #19527539]

Do I need an external antenna, or can I rely on indoor only?

If LTE2600 or higher bands are weak, add an external directional antenna. Aim at the target BTS and keep coax short. In that area, “without an external antenna, there is no need to count on much.” Evening congestion can also sink LTE1800 speeds. Outdoor gear stabilizes links. [Elektroda, matek451, post #19530049]

Can I use a cheap Play prepaid to run meaningful tests?

Yes. Buy a Play starter with the odNowa renewal tariff for about 5 PLN. Register it, add it in the Play24 app, and activate the free 100 GB plus 100 GB for YouTube promo. That provides enough data to test capacity and consistency. [Elektroda, matek451, post #19527690]

What speeds did users actually record near ul. Sowy?

One report showed about 49 Mb/s on T‑Mobile on Sunday morning. In the same spot, Plus was around 20 Mb/s, Orange 11 Mb/s, and Play 2 Mb/s. Run repeat tests at peak hours to see congestion effects. [Elektroda, loginjacek, post #19534942]

Which BTS or bands should I target around ul. Sowy?

For Play, aim at Falka 3 or Rozłogi 11 with LTE2600 + 2100 + 1800 + 800 aggregation (approx. 55 MHz total). For Orange/T‑Mobile, target Rozłogi 11 or Sienna 48 with multi‑band LTE. Confirm with NetMonster which site and bands you hit. [Elektroda, matek451, post #19527539]

What do “4CC CA” and “1107 Mb/s radio link” imply for my speeds?

4CC CA means four LTE bands aggregate, boosting cell capacity for capable devices. A 1107 Mb/s backhaul indicates the BTS has strong upstream capacity from fiber or microwave. You benefit only with strong LTE2600 and other bands at your location. Antennas and placement still gate speeds. [Elektroda, matek451, post #19530049]

How do I improve whole‑home Wi‑Fi after moving the router to the attic?

Extend coverage with wired access points. Run Ethernet from the attic router to APs on each floor. Place APs centrally to cover rooms and eliminate dead zones. This decouples Wi‑Fi coverage from modem placement. [Elektroda, IC_Current, post #19525649]
