Helloce, I need to change to a more modern router for a flat of about 50m2 (desktop and laptop on LAN, netflix and smartphones on wifi). I've been using a TP-Link WR841N for many years and this oldie can handle it, but the LAN ports output a max of 100mb and I've had an 800mb net for a long time (mainly this LAN is what I'm after). I'm fixated on TP-Link as that's all I've ever used. Initially I was thinking about Archer A8 (about 180zl) because I don't have great requirements, but in total if I buy this router I will probably use it for 10 years, so maybe it's better to use something more modern (with wifi 6) ? For now it looks like this:

    Archer ax10 / ax1500 - 239zł
    Archer ax23 / ax1800 - PLN 289
    Archer ax53 - 289zł (some promo)

I was decided on the ax23, but I see the ax53 costs the same, which is a bit strange. The wifi throughput is higher (for me the difference doesn't matter), but I don't know how the subject of processor / overheating ? If they cost the same it is better to take the ax53 ?

It's hard to dig up info anywhere as to what kind of CPUs are in there. The only thing they write is that the AX23 and AX53 have a dual-core processor, and the AX10 has a triple-core.

Here, the problem is not the model, but the bandwidth it is capable of transferring between LAN and WAN via NAT.

    RT-AX55

I know there are different brands, but my old TP-Link has been working for years and nothing has ever happened to it :)

I have looked at some more tests on the internet, the AX10 I reject because the AX23 performs better, although with normal use the difference is probably not noticeable. However, AX23 vs AX53, in both there will be a 2-core processor. Except that in the AX53 it is supposedly the same as in the AX55 V1 (Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. IPQ5018/TB-MP04), whatever that means. AX53 has more powerful WiFi some 160 MHz channel support.

Basically the only thing on my mind is overheating because supposedly there were problems with this in the AX50. At my place for now connected will be: PC or laptop, Netflix, 2 smartphones. I do not know what influences the temperature, the number of connected devices or maybe the router itself heats up because it has too weak heatsinks?

I just want to put it in a corner and forget about it, because I probably will not use it for the next 10 years :) .

And wifi cards, these 160MHz support - because if they don't, a fig with a poppy.

This suggestion is not a TPLink but an Asus RT-AX55.

well the 160 MHz ones probably don't support it. for wi-fi 6 I only have a laptop on which I have the net via cable. I assume that this router will serve me for years and it may happen that in a few years I will have new equipment which will use these capabilities. If it wasn't for this, I would take Archer A8 for 180zł and it would also manage :) Well, nothing, I will try to choose something today :) .

PS. but I'll have a look at what Asus offers yet. From routers/switches I always thought there was TP-Link and D-Link and nothing else :) .

Topic summary
