I have tested 4 different smart sockets, from different manufacturers, and it looks like they all cut off but do not cut off the power supply. I.e. I have an LED strip which is faulty because it has a faint glow when switched off. When the strip is switched off, well the glow disappears. I thought I'd put a smart socket on the strip so I wouldn't have to get up, but with every smart socket in off mode the glow stays.

Do all smart sockets have this? Do you know of any smart devices that would completely cut off the power supply like a strip?

There are many topics on this subject.
On the power supply of this strip you need to insert a capacitor, it should take care of the problem. C approx. 100nf minimum 250V.

Thank you for your hint, unfortunately my knowledge in electrical topics is zero, so I will not undertake the assembly of such a device. The power supply is on a round plug, connected to the driver, which further 4 pins connect to the LED strip, and the capacitor to two wires. The blocks do not fit together, this is where my knowledge ends. In case anyone wants to dabble further on the subject of the strip, I have tested different power supplies, different drivers, even a different tape, rotating the plug, but the problem persists.

Finally I was headed for a plug & play solution for the layman, i.e. a smart plug, hence the question in this section.

Insert this capacitor at the input of the power supply. There you have a 230V supply, so be careful and with the circuit switched off.
