Hello, Elektroda Community,
I own a Toshiba TV model 24D1334G, with the 17MB95S-1 (211212) motherboard. Recently, the first HDMI port became physically damaged, along with its original mounting on the board. I decided to try a repair by using one of the other available but unpopulated HDMI connector slots on the motherboard.
Actions Taken:
Soldered a New HDMI Port: I carefully placed and soldered an HDMI connector onto one of the unpopulated HDMI port locations on the motherboard, as visible in the attached image. (See image below for clarity.)
Tested the TV Software: Unfortunately, even after successfully mounting and connecting the new HDMI port, the TV's software still recognizes only one HDMI input. The additional HDMI port does not appear as a selectable source in the TV's input menu.
Issue:
It seems that the TV's firmware/software is configured to recognize only the factory-configured HDMI input. I believe the additional HDMI ports may require activation or firmware modification to be recognized.
Questions for the Community:
Firmware or Software Update: Is there a specific firmware version or tool available to enable the additional HDMI ports on this board?
Service Menu Access: Would accessing the service menu help in enabling these ports? If so, what steps should I take?
Other Solutions: Are there any hardware modifications or configurations (e.g., jumpers, resistors, or specific pin connections) that might activate the new HDMI port?
Additional Information:
The motherboard model is clearly shown in the attached image for reference.
I understand the risks of modifying firmware and hardware, so any guidance to proceed cautiously would be appreciated.
Thank you in advance for any help or suggestions!
Best regards,
AI: Could you please provide the current firmware version installed on your Toshiba TV?
Software update 3.6.3c
Application version 3.5.3d
AI: Have you observed any specific error messages or unusual behavior when attempting to use the newly soldered HDMI port?
No
