What type of switch is used to dim LED lights?

Hi, I hope I'm asking in the proper place. So I would like to connect a switch that will dim a set of very small LED lights from off(0% on) to full brightness(100% on), and every percent inbetween, via small blue tooth chip. So I will be controlling from phone with a finger scroll from 1-100 brightness level. And the main goal I should say is to make the entire setup be as small as possible. 

I am a self proclaimed app developer/DIY guy, and have built my own computer, and other random things here an there, so I can follow instructions but I am still very novice when it comes to electrical stuff. 

I would love to hear anyones explination as to how they would go about doing this, not sure if it's simple or not. But if anyone has LED light suggestions, Blue tooth chip suggestion, and then the switch if that's the right word(the thing that goes from Blue tooth chip to LED's) Thanks!

It all depends on the quantity you are planning on building. If you are determined to build something and are building a few units for yourself, use a standard bluebooth -> serial module, arduino and a low side PWM driver for the leds.

There are probably also units available that are for single color leds. Amazon, banggood and aliexpress are a few of the places you can look (search: bluetooth led dimmer). You might want to just go with RGB leds, depends on your application.

If you are building a medium/high quantity product, then you want a microcontroller with built-in bluetooth radio and a medium side mosfet configured as a low-side PWM driver.

Awesome Dean! Thanks so much! I will probably be able to build a prototype with this comment alone. It's so cool, it already comes with an app too! It will not be ideal of course, but I think it will be good to have a working prototype none the less.

So to clarify, it will will be just a prototype, but eventually it will hopefully be high quantity. And to give more detail, what I am trying to create is going to be a wearable product, (wrist band/anklet/arm band ect.). So that is why I wanted it small as possible. Eventually I'm hoping it would be rechargeable battery powered(i'll need to figure out), and accelerometer, and of course with microcontroller with built-in BT like you said.
