Lighting LUX Level measurements

Hi, 

Can anyone guide me regarding the STANDARDS which specify the location for measuring the lighting lux level in a room? Like in the middle of the room lighting lux is more than what we get in the corner of the room, but to support this is there any standard which we can refer to regarding the location for testing/measuing the lux level?

Secondly what should be the standard distance to keep the lighting meter form the luminaire/lighting fixture?
