Hi,
Could I please have some help with what may be causing this issue and how I can repair it.
I have a Trans Control Module in an automotive application that controls a 5 Ohm Solenoid for TC Lock up. It modulates the Solenoid from 2.5 V - 5 V to esnure smooth engagment of the Lock up function.
I want to bring in a supplmentary manual engagment option and have used a 12V switched input that runs through a LM2695 step down adjustable power supply module. As per the attached pics I've wired it into the cicuit in a paralell arrangment.
When I manually apply the lock up it works fine, supplying 5V to the solenoid and engages the Lovk up well. The issue I have is that the Factory control now modulates the solenoid at a lot higher volatge than previously. After the paralell install the OE Control now modulates from 4.5V - 7V DC. I thoguht there may be an issue with the Manual supply being in a paralell wiring arrangment so I fitted an inline Diode to the feed from the manual lock up LM2596 Supply.
It helped somewhat lowering the factory modulation to 3.5-6V.
My question is:
What is causing this and also how can I rectify it? Can a resitor possibly be installed to modulate the current?
I did have it previously wired in using relays so that the Manual supply would feed the solenoid when activated and cut away ther factory Trans control from the citcuit. This however caused a Trans Control fault for open circuit.
I was also thinking I could switch the circuits and have the Factory Trans control run through a 5 Ohm resistor when the manual loack up is activated to possibly rectify the Factory TCU recognising an Open circuit.
Please help with this!
Thanks,
