At work (oil and gas exploration company) I am being asked to research the viability of using our produced gas to generate electricity and then use that energy or sell it back to the grid. I've been doing a lot of research but am at a bit of a stand still when it comes to getting a ballpark to what the interconnection cost would range us if we wanted to go that route.
Can anyone point me to what the main factors are? For example if one of our facilities is very close to a substation, would that certainly be far less expensive to interconnect than a facility that is very far from a substation? I believe if we went at full capacity it would range 1-5MW of production.
Also, if there are any online resources/models that give a good explanation of this kind of cost estimate I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks everybody.
