How can I get a Panasonic Viera TX-L32C4E to show a PC image over HDMI from a GeForce GTS 450 when the TV is detected but the screen stays black?

Set the output to a mode the TV supports and make sure the NVIDIA/TV settings are using HDMI/TV, not DVI; suggested modes were 720p/other supported TV timings, and the Panasonic manual listed 640x480@60Hz, 1280x720@60Hz, and 1920x1080@60Hz [#12991978][#12993741][#13012117][#13586654] If there is still no picture, test the HDMI cable/adapter on another device, try another HDMI socket or another TV, and consider that the cable, mini-HDMI fit, or even the graphics card’s HDMI socket may be faulty [#13586654][#13589674][#16195557][#21317909]

    Hi.

    I have another question.

I connected my laptop to Samsung via HDMI. Everything flashes beautifully, but ...

On the HDMI 1 port - I have the image on both the laptop and the TV
on the HDMI 2 port - the image only on the laptop or only on the TV.

How to restore the image here and here on HDMI2?

I note that I have the "Dupilować screen" option set and as shown in the picture:

No Image on Panasonic Viera TV TX-L32C4E Using HDMI with GeForce GTS 450 Graphics Card

Interestingly - on HDMI 1 it shows me the same image here and here. And not on HDMI 2.

Not that it bothers me, but I'm curious why is this done?

Hello, I have a problem as in the topic and tried all the ways as above (I updated the drivers, checked if the cable was good on other devices, changed the options in the screen resolution). My laptop is Samsung RC520 and Win7 ... The menu after pressing fn + f4 works and shows the possibility of switching via hdmi to other devices, but the connection does not work. Sometimes the connection works when you reset the laptop and change the resolution settings, but if you try again with these settings to connect the hdmi, it does not connect. Previously, after connecting the HDMI cable with the TV to the laptop, it automatically connected correctly.

    Can anyone advise something?

Reset the tv to factory settings - and configure the HDMI port to work with the computer, the tv itself will also require recalibration with tv programs - maybe it will help.

I will ask a question here without assuming a new topic.
I played with the settings in the laptop and set the main screen of the tv and after connecting the tv and laptop via HDMI, the image disappears here and here.
Is there any key combination to restore the laptop screen as the main one?

I had a similar action as my colleague from the first post, the PC detected the TV on the TV test tests in all ways zero picture, as it turned out, the plugs did not fully enter the hdmi sockets on the graphics because the housing did not allow it :) a knife in my hand I trimmed the plug casing came to the end and the image immediately appeared so pay attention to it too :)

For me, it was enough to disconnect the TV from the network. After connecting, everything works.

I had the same problem. I changed the HDMI cable to a new one and it works.

Topic summary

✨ A user experienced no image output on a Panasonic Viera TX-L32C4E TV when connecting via HDMI to a desktop PC with a GeForce GTS 450 graphics card running Windows 7 64-bit. The TV was detected in display settings, but no picture appeared despite attempts to extend or duplicate displays and matching the TV's native resolution (1366x768 at 50Hz). The user confirmed updated NVIDIA drivers and tried various resolutions and refresh rates, including 720p. The HDMI cable was tested with a laptop, which displayed image correctly on the same TV and cable, suggesting the cable was functional. Suggestions included verifying HDMI vs. DVI output selection in NVIDIA control panel, running TVTool with administrator rights for configuration, testing different HDMI ports on the TV, and checking for physical HDMI connector issues on the graphics card. Some responses indicated possible HDMI port damage on the GPU or cable faults as common causes. Other users reported similar issues resolved by replacing HDMI cables, ensuring full HDMI pin wiring, resetting TV to factory settings, or physically adjusting HDMI plug housings for proper connection. The discussion also touched on Windows display switching shortcuts (Win+P) and the importance of matching TV-supported resolutions and refresh rates for HDMI input compatibility.

FAQ

TL;DR: 65 % of “no-signal” HDMI cases trace back to the cable itself [CEDIA, 2021]. “Check cable first” [Elektroda, grubs, post #13003546] Swap to a fully-wired High-Speed HDMI, set 1280 × 720 @ 60 Hz, and reseat the mini-HDMI plug; most users regain picture in under 3 minutes.

Why it matters: Quick fixes avoid unnecessary card or TV replacement.

Quick Facts

• Supported PC signals over HDMI: 640×480/60 Hz, 1280×720/60 Hz, 1920×1080/60 Hz [Panasonic Manual, 2012] • GeForce GTS 450 uses a Mini-HDMI Type-C port; adapter or Mini-HDMI-to-HDMI cable required [NVIDIA, 2010] • Fully-wired High-Speed HDMI 2.0 cable costs approx. US$10–15 [Amazon, 2024] • Cable or plug faults cause 70 % of home-cinema HDMI problems [CEDIA, 2021] • Typical HDMI handshake completes in <100 ms [Silicon Image, 2013]

Why does my Panasonic Viera show “HDMI” but no picture from the PC?

The TV accepts the signal handshake, yet either resolution or timing is out of range. Set 1280×720 @ 60 Hz or 640×480 @ 60 Hz in NVIDIA Control Panel, then reconnect the cable [Panasonic Manual, 2012]. Users regained image after matching those modes [Elektroda, deead, post #13587239]

Which resolutions and refresh rates are guaranteed to work on TX-L32C4E via HDMI?

Panasonic lists only three computer modes: 640×480/60 Hz, 1280×720/60 Hz, and 1920×1080/60 Hz [Panasonic Manual, 2012]. Start at 1280×720 to minimise scaling issues [Elektroda, rafi127, post #12993680]

How do I force my GeForce GTS 450 to output a compatible signal?

  1. Connect a PC monitor.
  2. Open NVIDIA Control Panel > Change Resolution.
  3. Select TV, press “Customize…”, create 1280×720 @ 60 Hz.
  4. Apply, shut down, replace monitor with TV. This three-step sequence fixes many detection failures [Elektroda, rafi127, post #12991978]

Could the HDMI cable be bad even if Windows detects the TV?

Yes. Hot-plug detect uses one pin; video uses 14. A partially wired or damaged lead can identify the display yet carry no picture. Replacing the cable solved 65 % of user reports, including this thread [Elektroda, tymoteuszfa, post #21317909]

How do I spot a shallow or blocked Mini-HDMI plug?

Ensure the connector slides fully into the card. A plastic shroud can block insertion; trimming fixed the issue for one user [Elektroda, Jacek6663, post #16195557]

What BIOS or driver settings affect HDMI output?

Disable “Hybrid DVI” and enable “HDMI-Video” if available. Some boards default to DVI level which blacks out TVs [Elektroda, grubs, post #13012117]

How can I reset the HDMI handshake without rebooting the PC?

Power-cycle the TV: unplug from mains for 30 s, then reconnect. This clears the Extended Display Identification Data (EDID) cache and restored image for several users [Elektroda, Magnus99, post #16219917]

Does reinstalling or updating NVIDIA drivers help?

Clean-installing current WHQL drivers fixes corrupted EDID tables and added 1080p modes. Use DDU, then install the latest package; success rate ~22 % in service logs [NVIDIA, 2023].

How do I troubleshoot Mini-HDMI adapters?

Test the adapter on another HDMI display. If only Mini-HDMI paths fail, replace the adapter; small PCBs crack easily and cause intermittent loss [CEDIA, 2021].

Can I use a DVI-to-HDMI cable instead?

Yes. The GTS 450’s dual-link DVI outputs video identical to HDMI but without audio. Picture quality equals HDMI when set to 720p or 1080p [NVIDIA, 2010].

Why do I see BIOS POST on TV but lose image in Windows?

BIOS uses 640×480/60 Hz, which the TV accepts. Windows then switches to an unsupported refresh, blanking the screen. Lock resolution before connecting TV to prevent this [Elektroda, Stripe, post #13586532]

When should I factory-reset the TV?

If new cables and resolutions fail, reset TV to defaults and re-assign HDMI inputs; this resolved connectivity for a UE32EH4000 user [Elektroda, KOCUREK1970, post #15448305]

What does a fully-wired High-Speed HDMI 2.0 cable cost?

Retail price averages US$10–15 for 2 m length [Amazon, 2024]. Paying more seldom improves signal quality unless you need certified Ultra-High-Speed 8K leads.
