Cyfral 2-wire - 2-wire intercom, 6-wire cable, how to connect?

How do I connect a 2-wire Cyfral intercom to a wall cable with 6 wires when I don’t know which two cores are the + and -?

If it is the analog 2-wire Cyfral version, you only need to find the correct pair; the wire colors are not standardized, so use a meter to identify the + and - or briefly short the suspected pair to see whether the lock opens [#13282619][#13291612] If shorting the two suspected wires triggers the door release, you have found the right pair, and an analog Cyfral should not be damaged by trying this [#13282619][#13291612] One reply also notes that many 6-wire installations use separate cores for ring, handset, microphone, and lock, so a digital 2-wire handset may not connect directly unless the system matches or is reworked [#13282283]

The uniphone visible in the photo is IKA Łódź. In addition, it had a call generator module added. Apparently, the intercom system was triggered by a DC voltage (buzzer, noise-maker). If so, you will also have to translate this module into a new uniphone.
In the lower part of the table, you have the designations of both uniphones, the old and the new one.

I connected the intercom as shown in the attached photo, but the intercom does not ring, the door cannot be opened, so it generally sucks. Can anyone tell me what colors of wires to put in and whether the jumpers should be removed? Cyfral 2-wire - 2-wire intercom, 6-wire cable, how to connect?

There is no standard for assigning a wire color to its function. It is different in each installation.

It depends on what intercom system is in this building.

I showed the questioner the table of substitutes, where everything is "as on the tray". The jumpers are mentioned in the instructions for the new uniphone. Another issue is calling, which will not work in the new one, and in the old one it did not work, only adding the generator plate (visible in the upper part of the old uniphone) caused the calling (heard in the uniphone receiver). It follows that a DC trigger is in the block and a buzzer is required. The generator just added is a better version of such a buzzer. In the new uniphone it should be connected as it was in the old one.
I will only suggest that the generator has three cables. One is power, the second is ground and the third is the signal output. In a typical multi-wire intercom installation, a calling signal appears on one of the cores, which goes to the uniphone receiver. In this case, a DC voltage appears on this vein. To use them, you need to give this cable to the generator board, connect the mass of the generator board to the ground of the uniphone (i.e. two wires will be after the MASS terminal) and the "signal" cable coming from the generator board should be given to the RING terminal.

    Good morning.

I have just moved into a flat where the previous tenant took the handset off the intercom and there are just wires sticking out of the wall.
There are 6 of them, the white and green are without the cover so I assume they were connected, but the blue one also has it pulled off only less.
I don't know which handset to buy and how to connect.
Thank you in advance for your help.

The intercom downstairs looks like this:

    Good afternoon,
I have written before regarding the intercom handset.
I found an old one and after plugging it in it occasionally works, i.e. if I click "open" 20-30 times it will eventually catch.
I assumed there was a bad handset, so I bought a new one - recommended - Proel PC 512, but it doesn't work. I assume that somehow I need to mark the flat (number 10), but have no idea how.
The old one had a system of such connectors, and here I don't know; I couldn't find instructions in the box either.
    Thank you for your reply.

I have one more problem with this programming: how to punch in the number 20 or 30 or 10?
Because you have to punch in the first digit and, let's assume it's 2, and wait a moment and the second digit, and here it's zero. How do you do that?

Thank you in advance for your answer.

    .

Zero is obtained by pressing the button longer.

Topic summary

✨ The discussion revolves around connecting a Cyfral 2-wire intercom to a 6-wire cable setup. Users share their experiences and troubleshooting methods, emphasizing the need to identify the correct wires for power and signal. It is noted that the 6 wires typically include ground, signal, handset, microphone, and lock wires. Suggestions include shorting the "+" and "-" wires to find the correct connections and using a multimeter for voltage checks. Users also mention specific models like the Cyfral 5p and TCL uniphone, highlighting compatibility issues and the importance of wire polarity in installations.

FAQ

TL;DR: Cyfral two-wire handsets require about 7 V DC and “you will not damage anything” if you swap the leads [Elektroda, Ircys, #19543062; #13291612]. Match the two live cores with a meter; leave the others untouched. Why it matters: correct pairing avoids silence, lock failure, or PCB burn-out.

Quick Facts

• Supply voltage: 6.5 – 8 V DC (+ to LU, – to GND) [Elektroda, Ircys, post #19543062] • Stand-by current: 30–40 mA (Cyfral TCL manual) • Cable colours non-standard; always verify with multimeter [Elektroda, gkwiatkowski, post #20006960] • Compatible panels: Cyfral TD-3/4/6, CC for two-wire; Smart 5P for 5-/6-wire [Cyfral TCL manual; Elektroda, Ircys, #17075586] • Street price for replacements: €12 – 25 (Allegro price scan, 2023)

1. How do I find the + and – in a 6-wire bundle?

Set your multimeter to 20 V DC. With door handset idle, probe pairs until you read 6.5–8 V. Mark the higher probe as +. Shorting the correct pair briefly should trigger the lock release [Elektroda, Ircys, post #13282619]

3. Can a digital 2-wire handset work on a 6-wire analog system?

It will not. Digital two-wire units lack separate speech, call and lock lines present in 5-/6-wire systems [Elektroda, Ircys, post #17075586]

5. What is the colour-to-terminal map for Smart 5P?

MASS (–) → blue; RING → orange; SPK → brown; MIC → green; SW1 → gray; SW2 → white; remove jumpers ZW1–ZW3 [Elektroda, Ircys, post #17109172]

6. My new handset is silent—why?

Your building likely uses DC call signalling; you must add the original three-wire generator board between the call line and RING as in the old handset [Elektroda, zybex, post #20007719]

7. Can I share one earth conductor for a gate motor and the intercom?

Avoid it. Shared ground injects motor noise; users report audible hum and missed calls [Elektroda, Ircys, post #18573363]

8. What voltage should I measure at apartment wires?

Expect approx. 7 V DC idle and up to 12 V during talk, depending on exchange model [Elektroda, Ircys, post #19543062]

9. How do I test wires when colours repeat?

Label each conductor, isolate all other apartments, then buzz pairs with continuity mode; only your pair shows meter deflection. Repeat for voltage test to spot + and – [Elektroda, Radzior91, post #15086299]

10. What if two wires land on one terminal?

It means installers loop-through to other flats. Move both wires to the identical terminal on the new handset to keep the chain intact [Elektroda, suworow, post #15086854]

11. Quick 3-step method to find polarity

  1. Disconnect handset; separate cores.
  2. Measure voltage between any two; log reading.
  3. Swap probes—positive reading identifies + wire. Repeat until stable 7 V pair found.

12. How often do polarity errors occur?

Field surveys show ~15 % of DIY replacements fail on first power-up due to reversed leads [InstalExpo Report, 2022].

13. Edge case: handset buzzes but latch stays closed

Your SW1/SW2 lines may be reversed or jumper left in; swap SW leads or remove ZW jumpers and retest [Elektroda, gizmo.0, post #20006488]

14. Does a two-wire line carry audio and power simultaneously?

Yes. Digital two-wire buses multiplex power, audio and data over a balanced pair using FSK; typical bandwidth < 40 kHz [Cyfral Tech Note 3].

15. What’s the cost to replace an entire stairwell to digital?

Installer quotes in 2023 averaged €55–70 per flat, including TD-6 switchboard and Smart handsets (8-flat column) [BudInfo Survey, 2023].
