I have an electric boiler powered by a 3 kW electric heater as the idea is to have a night electric tariff I plan to install a simple control system.

At the moment there is a normal grounded socket.

I plan to purchase something like this

    http://www.conrad.pl/Programator-tygodniowy-c...n%C4%99-DIN.htm?websale8=conrad&pi=198520

Add a fuse/switch to this and mount in a box on the rail in front of the socket.

My question is whether 16 A is sufficient for a 3 kW heater?
What is the best fuse contactor for the kit?
Will the kit mentioned work well and how best to mount it?

What is a possible alternative. The device must not be too expensive or the whole operation will lose its meaning.

    Best regards

I have the same tank and the same heater in the middle. i have a 6kW heater. With 3kw you have to set the temperature so that you always have a supply of water, don't expect it to heat you up when you need it. For a family of 2+2 it is easily enough.
Of course, you forgot about the thermostat which will cut off the heating when it reaches a certain temperature, because I don't suppose you want to do that
I don't know if you shouldn't look for a dedicated controller with hours of operation, a thermostat that has a weekly overheating of the water right away. Unless you're oiling the legionella subject

The thermostat is in the heater and it is the one that keeps an eye on the temperature independently of the other devices. I am interested in using the night-time tariff to heat water.
i recently found something like this

As far as legionella is concerned, during the winter period (from the beginning of September to the end of May) the water is heated from the central heating boiler and has a temperature of 55-60 degrees (non-stop) so there should be no problem. With the heater I plan to heat also to some 55-60 degrees and once a week a higher temperature can be given.

    It is sufficient.

If the controller is only to be used for this, then a simple controller with a timer and a socket for a dozen or so zlotys will suffice. You insert it into the socket and the plug from the boiler into its socket. Controllers are both electronic and mechanical clocks.

I purchased a German 16A socket, which will take a 3 kW heater. The only inconvenience is that I had to change the socket to the German one, because the Polish one could not be plugged in. The advantage of the German one is that Polish appliances can be plugged in without any problems.
