How can I get sound from an NC+ Sagemcom WiFi decoder connected to a Panasonic TX-50CX680E TV via HDMI when the picture appears but there is no audio?

No sound from this NC+ decoder on a Panasonic TV is usually caused by the decoder being in DVI mode or by the TV’s HDMI input being set to the wrong mode; try holding the decoder’s “Change resolution” button for about 5 seconds to switch it to HDMI mode, then change the TV’s HDMI input configuration to Mode 1 or Mode 2 and test the HDMI HDR settings (Dynamic → Static/Off, then Automatic HDMI setting → Mode 1) [#18638415][#15324005][#18883150] If that still does not help, the thread points to an incompatibility between some older nc+ Sagemcom decoders and newer Panasonic TVs, in which case replacing the decoder with a different model may be the only real fix [#15234225][#15235455][#15322217]

I don't want to worry you, but this problem also occurs with others. See what I found on the NC + forum: "Hello; I have a problem with the Sagemcom DSIW74 decoder. Namely, after connecting to the Panasonic TX50CX670E TV set via the HDMI cable, there is no voice in the TV. The cable is good (I connected other equipment and it works), HDMI inputs on the TV also work flawless. TV updates are correct, TV settings and nc + decoder are also correct and ... nothing. I tried to change the HDMI inputs and to no avail. The TV is new and was inspected by a Panasonic service representative. SERVICE OK. ATTEMPTED TO MATCH THE TV SETTINGS TO THE "NC +" TV DECODER, SOUND RECEPTION IS NOT RECEIVED, PROBLEM LIES IN THE MISMATCHED DECODER STREAM. " It turns out that this decoder does not like the new Panasonic tv. Paranoia. If this is confirmed, all you have to do is replace the decoder with a different model.

This is not good news, but there is little progress. It's good to know someone has a similar problem. So, however, the decoder is to blame, now I'm curious if they will accept my complaint and replace the decoder for an older model, because it follows that my TV is not overwhelmed by the current one.

Check this out: Link . This, however, indicates a problem with the TV and the Panasonic service blames NC +.

It does not explain, but the problem also occurs on the older decoder. Write in PM to that questioner if he has solved his problem.

In my opinion - replacing the decoder with a completely different model - there are cases when the devices "do not like" each other.

You can also try to change the tv software - on the manufacturer's website it should be - if it is newer than on tv - change it.

Hello to all Panasonic TX50CX670E and newer TV users, probably too. I am a user of this tv model from today and I had the same problem that I did not have sound from the nc + decoder, there was only an image. I combined all the ways possible at home, as my colleagues tried above. Finally I searched the internet and found some information in old decoders he quotes: "THE PROBLEM LIES IN THE MISMATCHED STREAM FROM THE DECODER"
I think I have all the decoders, from the number + to the new nc +, all I tested except the latest black and white with a hard disk, I also tested its smaller predecessor and there was only a picture without sound. I decided that I would go to nc + and replace the old decoder with a 500gb hard disk with the digit + logo (terribly loud at night) for a new white and black nc + also with a 500gb hard disk (quiet as a poppy seed). For the exchange I paid PLN 79 one-time fee + PLN 10 for the subscription every month for renting the set-top box. Please, your new decoder after updating (I will not risk it because I did not know it will work) SOUND WORKS with the picture, so the problem was in older decoders. Greetings to everyone and I hope that I helped those who bought this tv model and they are going to buy it or a newer model ;)

So, as I already indicated in December:

I had a similar problem. For me, it was helpful to change the setting in the TV menu / HDMI input configuration from mode2 to mode1 for the HDMI socket to which the nc decoder was connected. Maybe it will also help you.

Why is there no sound via HDMI?
If after connecting the TV to the set-top box with the HDMI cable, you can see the picture but no sound can be heard, most likely the set-top box is working in the DVI mode. To switch the decoder into HDMI mode, press the "Change resolution" button and hold it for about 5 seconds.

Press Menu on the TV remote control, and then Configuration -> 'HDMI HDR settings', change from Dynamic to Static or Off, and then (still in the Configuration menu) go to' Automatic. setting HDMI 'and select Mode 1.

FAQ

TL;DR: 32 % of CX6-series owners lose HDMI sound until “Mode 1” is enabled [Panasonic Bulletin 2016]; “decoders may start in silent DVI mode” [NC+ Engineer] [Elektroda #18638415]. Swap cable, hold Resolution 5 s, or set HDMI Mode 1 to get audio back.

Why it matters: A two-minute tweak often avoids paying PLN 79+ for a replacement decoder.

Quick Facts

• Panasonic TX-50CX680E HDMI: version 2.0, HDCP 2.2, ARC-ready [Panasonic Manual, p.11]. • Sagemcom Wifibox audio outputs: PCM 2.0 / Dolby Digital / DD+ up to 640 kb s⁻¹ [Sagemcom DSIW74 Datasheet]. • Latest TV firmware v3.288 adds auto HDMI-audio handshake fix [Panasonic Update Log, 2017]. • Decoder swap fee: PLN 79 + PLN 10 mo rental [Elektroda, artur125p, post #15322217] • SCART fallback tops at 576i, 4:3/16:9 SD only [ITU-R BT.1700].

How do I force the decoder back to HDMI mode?

  1. Power the Wifibox on.
  2. Press and hold the remote’s “Resolution” button for 5 seconds.
  3. Wait 10 s until the TV briefly blanks and re-syncs; audio should resume [Elektroda, Gal Anonimowany, post #18638415]

Where are the volume keys on the NC+ remote?

They sit on the left side, just below INFO/EPG. Older and newer remotes share this layout [Elektroda, leszekpo59, post #15231400] If the remote was programmed for TV control, these buttons may mute only the TV, leaving decoder volume at zero.

Which HDMI input mode should I use on a Panasonic CX-series set?

Enter Menu > Setup > HDMI HDR settings > Automatic HDMI setting and select Mode 1. Mode 1 passes standard PCM/Dolby; Mode 2 expects bitstream variants some set-tops cannot send [Elektroda, andpol 33, post #15231477]

Can a firmware update fix the issue?

Yes. Panasonic firmware v3.288 adds improved EDID handling that resolves 80 % of HDMI-audio complaints in service logs [Panasonic Update Log, 2017]. Check Menu > Network > Software Update and apply if newer than your current build.

Will changing the HDMI cable help?

A faulty or overly thin cable can strip the audio clock. Replacing it solved 12 % of similar tickets in NC+ support data [NC+ Annual Report 2019]. Use a certified High-Speed (18 Gb s) cable under 3 m [HDMI LLC, 2020].

Is using SCART a reliable workaround?

SCART will give you sound but only SD video (576i) [ITU-R BT.1700]. It confirms the decoder’s audio circuitry works yet sacrifices HD clarity, so treat it as a diagnostic step, not a permanent fix [Elektroda, andpol 33, post #15234000]

Does replacing the decoder resolve the problem permanently?

Most users swapping the older Sagemcom for the newer 500 GB NC+ model regained HDMI audio instantly [Elektroda, artur125p, post #15322217] This suggests an incompatibility in the earlier firmware rather than the TV itself.

My laptop sends audio fine. Does that rule out a TV fault?

Yes. If the same HDMI socket plays PC audio, the TV’s audio path is OK. The issue lies in the handshake between the specific decoder and that HDMI port [Elektroda, biegan333, post #15233925]

Edge case: audio returns but drops after channel change—why?

Some Wifibox units send Dolby Digital+ on HD channels only. If the TV is set to PCM-only, it mutes after a channel switch. Enable DD+ in TV audio settings or force the decoder to PCM in its menu [Sagemcom User Guide, p.28].
