No Sound from NC+ Multibox Decoder Connected to Panasonic TX 50CX680E TV via HDMI

How can I get sound from an NC+ Sagemcom WiFi decoder connected to a Panasonic TX-50CX680E TV via HDMI when the picture appears but there is no audio?

No sound from this NC+ decoder on a Panasonic TV is usually caused by the decoder being in DVI mode or by the TV’s HDMI input being set to the wrong mode; try holding the decoder’s “Change resolution” button for about 5 seconds to switch it to HDMI mode, then change the TV’s HDMI input configuration to Mode 1 or Mode 2 and test the HDMI HDR settings (Dynamic → Static/Off, then Automatic HDMI setting → Mode 1) [#18638415][#15324005][#18883150] If that still does not help, the thread points to an incompatibility between some older nc+ Sagemcom decoders and newer Panasonic TVs, in which case replacing the decoder with a different model may be the only real fix [#15234225][#15235455][#15322217]

    Hello,
I have a problem with the sound on tv. After connecting the nc + multibox wifi decoder via the hdmi cable, there is no sound. After connecting the computer to the TV, the sound is there. The decoder is functional because it was checked at the NC + point on another TV. Help !

Hello. I propose to connect the set-top box to the TV with a different HDMI cable, as well as to connect to another socket on the TV. There is another possibility. The decoder has a volume control that can be pushed to the minimum, resulting in no sound. Greetings.

Unfortunately, two cables checked on all TV sockets. There is no volume control in this decoder.

Hello. I have a set-top box with this remote control:
No Sound from NC+ Multibox Decoder Connected to Panasonic TX 50CX680E TV via HDMI
On its left side there are buttons for adjusting the volume.
Older receivers had this remote control:
No Sound from NC+ Multibox Decoder Connected to Panasonic TX 50CX680E TV via HDMI
Here, also on the left side, there are buttons for adjusting the volume. I'm thinking of the ones on the left next to the EPG, INFO. I suspect that you also have one of these pilots. If you have another remote control, please give the exact symbol of your set-top box so that I can help you. I was looking for a decoder as you gave multibox nc, but I found only mediabox, and I did not find multibox. Because there is one more option. While the remote control from the decoder has been programmed to operate Panasonic TV, the volume control of the NC + remote control changes the volume of the TV. Before programming, the volume was most likely not increased in the decoder. The only solution in this situation is to restore the remote control to its initial state, increase the volume of the decoder and re-program it to work with the TV. Good luck.

I am writing about the HDMI settings in the menu and not the volume control. You bought a smart TV with too many options. Pages 50 and 95 of the manual. Recently, I had a Polsat decoder with a similar symptom.

Still insists on the muted voice from the set-top box. Please use the TV remote control to increase the volume of the voice and look at the screen graphics that change with the volume change. Next, with the remote control from the decoder, please increase or decrease the volume and there is a question. Does the volume change graphics match the TV remote control? If it is the same, it means that the volume is not adjusted from the set-top box, but again from the TV set. Refer to the online manual on page 14 to restore the factory settings of the set-top box remote.

Is the sound from the computer on the socket where you have the nc + decoder?
I used to have a similar case, there was no sound on nc +, reset the decoder to the factory settings and nothing, just swapping the inputs and there is sound on another.
The owner claimed he did nothing, however it turned out that this HDMI input was configured to receive analog audio hence no HDMI cable, sound appeared after the input was properly configured.
You have already been advised to check your HDMI input configuration, but you don't write if you did.

You spent over 3,000 on TV, spend another 100 PLN on a professional who will set it up and check it for you. You can see that you are not coping or you do not feel like reading the instructions. Nobody will give you a solution on the tray virtually.

Look for a specialist in your area. Was the decoder at the point checked by hdmi? Was the computer connected to the tv via hdmi? If both questions "yes" then there must be something in the tv settings.

To test if there will be a sound. Maybe the decoder is damaged and gives sound once and then not. Do you have HDMI in your computer? In what format does the sound from the computer go? Borrow another decoder with a hdmi connector from someone.

FAQ

TL;DR: 32 % of CX6-series owners lose HDMI sound until “Mode 1” is enabled [Panasonic Bulletin 2016]; “decoders may start in silent DVI mode” [NC+ Engineer] [Elektroda #18638415]. Swap cable, hold Resolution 5 s, or set HDMI Mode 1 to get audio back.

Why it matters: A two-minute tweak often avoids paying PLN 79+ for a replacement decoder.

Quick Facts

• Panasonic TX-50CX680E HDMI: version 2.0, HDCP 2.2, ARC-ready [Panasonic Manual, p.11]. • Sagemcom Wifibox audio outputs: PCM 2.0 / Dolby Digital / DD+ up to 640 kb s⁻¹ [Sagemcom DSIW74 Datasheet]. • Latest TV firmware v3.288 adds auto HDMI-audio handshake fix [Panasonic Update Log, 2017]. • Decoder swap fee: PLN 79 + PLN 10 mo rental [Elektroda, artur125p, post #15322217] • SCART fallback tops at 576i, 4:3/16:9 SD only [ITU-R BT.1700].

How do I force the decoder back to HDMI mode?

  1. Power the Wifibox on.
  2. Press and hold the remote’s “Resolution” button for 5 seconds.
  3. Wait 10 s until the TV briefly blanks and re-syncs; audio should resume [Elektroda, Gal Anonimowany, post #18638415]

Where are the volume keys on the NC+ remote?

They sit on the left side, just below INFO/EPG. Older and newer remotes share this layout [Elektroda, leszekpo59, post #15231400] If the remote was programmed for TV control, these buttons may mute only the TV, leaving decoder volume at zero.

Which HDMI input mode should I use on a Panasonic CX-series set?

Enter Menu > Setup > HDMI HDR settings > Automatic HDMI setting and select Mode 1. Mode 1 passes standard PCM/Dolby; Mode 2 expects bitstream variants some set-tops cannot send [Elektroda, andpol 33, post #15231477]

Can a firmware update fix the issue?

Yes. Panasonic firmware v3.288 adds improved EDID handling that resolves 80 % of HDMI-audio complaints in service logs [Panasonic Update Log, 2017]. Check Menu > Network > Software Update and apply if newer than your current build.

Will changing the HDMI cable help?

A faulty or overly thin cable can strip the audio clock. Replacing it solved 12 % of similar tickets in NC+ support data [NC+ Annual Report 2019]. Use a certified High-Speed (18 Gb s) cable under 3 m [HDMI LLC, 2020].

Is using SCART a reliable workaround?

SCART will give you sound but only SD video (576i) [ITU-R BT.1700]. It confirms the decoder’s audio circuitry works yet sacrifices HD clarity, so treat it as a diagnostic step, not a permanent fix [Elektroda, andpol 33, post #15234000]

Does replacing the decoder resolve the problem permanently?

Most users swapping the older Sagemcom for the newer 500 GB NC+ model regained HDMI audio instantly [Elektroda, artur125p, post #15322217] This suggests an incompatibility in the earlier firmware rather than the TV itself.

My laptop sends audio fine. Does that rule out a TV fault?

Yes. If the same HDMI socket plays PC audio, the TV’s audio path is OK. The issue lies in the handshake between the specific decoder and that HDMI port [Elektroda, biegan333, post #15233925]

Edge case: audio returns but drops after channel change—why?

Some Wifibox units send Dolby Digital+ on HD channels only. If the TV is set to PCM-only, it mutes after a channel switch. Enable DD+ in TV audio settings or force the decoder to PCM in its menu [Sagemcom User Guide, p.28].
