After a storm my ESP8266-07 to which I had an external antenna connected died. I need to connect something quickly and I have a free ESP version 12 but on the internal antenna it does not connect. I would like to re-solder the antenna socket from the broken module to ver.12 but where do I connect it and where do I cut off the antenna on the board?

It's not likely to be that simple. PCBs are designed so that the tracks have the right wave impedance, if you cut them and solder in some socket the whole intricate design goes to hell. The end result of this is usually worse, not better.

I would like to use the ESP-07 module with an external antenna ("stick") should the resistor between the antenna socket and the ceramic antenna be removed?
Maybe I'm thinking wrong, but if I connect the external antenna the ceramic one will be connected too.

See Link . From the description it appears to be a capacitor, not a resistor.

    Thanks for the link.
Turns out it can be discarded and should be a bit better with range ;)

This is a null resistor. And it should be soldered out to use the potential of the external antenna.
