AND) If you don't see the Xbox startup troubleshooter screen, follow Steps 1 and 2
B) If you see the Xbox startup troubleshooter screen, only follow part 2 of the instructions.
1. - Connect the USB flash drive to a USB port on the computer.
- Open the OSU2 offline system update file.
You can download OSU2 from the link:
http://www.xbox.com/xboxone/osu2
- Click Save to save the console software update zip file to your computer.
- Unpack the file by right-clicking on it and selecting Extract All from the drop-down menu.
- Copy the $ SystemUpdate file from the ZIP file to your flash drive.
- Note The files must be copied to the root directory, and there must be no other files on the flash drive.
- Disconnect the USB flash drive from the USB port of the computer.
After saving the appropriate offline system update file to a USB flash drive, you can install the file on your Xbox One console:
- Plug the USB flash drive with the offline system update files into the USB port of the Xbox One console.
- Turn off the console, then unplug the power cord to make sure the console is completely turned off.
- Wait 30 seconds.
- Reconnect the power cord.

- Hold down the BIND and EJECT buttons for 10-15 seconds.
- You should hear two power-on tones successive, a few seconds apart.
- Note If you do not hear two power-up tones after 15 seconds, the operation has failed. The shutdown signals will also indicate that the operation has failed.
- You can release the BINDING and EJECTING buttons after the second power-on signal.
- Restarting the console will complete the first update.
Note It may take several minutes for the console to restart. If the console has never been connected to the Internet, you will need to connect it at least once during system setup.
Information about buttons and signals
SimultaneousPressing the BIND and EJECT buttons causes the console to start searching for an update on the USB drive, because the console does not search for a USB drive until it is needed. This helps to shorten the console startup time in all cases where this step is not necessary.
The first power-up beep will appear approximately 10 seconds after turning on the power. This means that an update has been detected on the USB drive. The second power-up beep means that the update file has been copied and installed. This is important because it confirms that you have a compatible Xbox One system update for the current build. This tells the system which build is currently installed on the console and whether the update is compatible with that build.
After the update
If the first update is successful, you will either return to the Start screen or be prompted to start the second update (online).
If your console is connected to the Internet, you'll be prompted to perform the second update when you restart your console after installing the first update. If so, select Start update.
If the console is not connected, it will need to be connected to the Internet to perform the second online update. If you need help with your network connection, see the Xbox One Connection and Network Solution. After your console is connected, select Start Update if you're prompted to perform a second update.
Note Before you are prompted to start the next update, you may be prompted to repeat some general console configuration steps.
2. If something went wrong during the first offline update, try performing a second update using the OSU1 file this time. To download this file, follow the same procedure as for the first update:
