I'm planning to buy an MI Aqara Wall and use them (two pieces) as stair switches, but I'd like the installation (new house, before the electrician comes in) to be prepared to handle a standard stair switch.

Installation of the MI Aqara Wall Switch with the option of a standardised staircase switch .

The installation diagram for this switch is simpler (below is a comparison - left is the diagram for the switch, right is a standard stair switch as I understand it), because we can achieve the function of a stair switch by programming the switches.

However, I am afraid that this solution will not work 100% smoothly and I would prefer to lay the cables as for a standard fader. Please confirm to me whether I understand correctly that on the wires prepared for the staircase I will be able to connect two such switches and they will work properly, and as an alternative I will be able to throw in simply stair switches.

If you lay a YDYp3x1.5mm2 from the first stair switch from which the lamp is to be powered, and leave two wires unused then there will be no problem running standard stair switches in the future.
I was amused, by the way, by the note about the lower energy consumption using their product compared to a standard staircase installation :) .

I've been figuring out Smarthome for a while and nothing surprises me anymore. 90% of it is crap. But assuming these switches work and Siri arrives, this kit will be very convenient for voice control. And that's probably all the Smart I'll do, because the rest are useless bits.

    Thanks for your help.

I'm linking to the topic with a question asking if it has been possible to run Aqara switches as staircase switches?
