Hello I have one quick question. When I have inserted the map update card for the V12 version, have I selected to read from the card, can I change to uploading map updates to the navi during use.
I have updated from soft 500 to 501, it went without a problem, no matter what disc and how recorded I checked on CD R and CD RW, recorded as files and from an image and the new software installation window always starts. But I still have an RNS315 with soft 319 and here I have not been able to run the update in any way. Generally these updates are for a specific SW for a specific SW.

Buonasera a tutti e grazie per quello che fate. Vorrei sapere se l'eventuale aggiornamento 270 prevede la lingua italiana. Grazie a chi potrà darmi una mano di aiuto. Un saluto a tutti
Hi all, I have an RNS 315 with software 0407 and when I bought the car it was not possible to use Bluetooth. A friend activated it for me with VCDS and Bluetooth works - audio muse from phon and phone calls. I think the microphone was plugged in at the factory, but it was not activated. I have a DAB antenna connected to the rear of the radio. But I have no option in the menu to switch the range to DAB - there is only FM and AM.
Do the softy posted here activate the DAB functions? There is, as I understand it, an update here for the 0417 soft - but I guess for 0407 it won't run. By the code of the radio, it comes out from this table from the post on page one that the 0417 soft should be, and I have 0407. Anyone can tell me how they differ?
Update my rns315:
1. I downloaded the software from the website: https://cdburnerxp.se/ version 64bit/ or 32bit(86)
2. I burned the ISO multi skoda-seat onto a Sony CD at 4x speed (this software is the only one that burns at the speed you choose, other burning software like Imageburn, UltraIso... don't respect speed)
3. I put the CD into the drive and for the first time it ran all 3 columns to 100 percent. (if I burned it on other software about 5x it kept throwing the CD out of the drive).

Hello friends, I recently bought my son a 2012 Volkswagen Jetta with a 2.0L engine. The car has an outdated RNS310 radio unit. I can't get the Bluetooth to work at all, and the maps are for Western Europe (original), but they do not include Romania, where I live. And now to the question: Is it possible to upgrade it, or is it better to give up on it entirely and replace it with an Android-based unit?
Hello,
I have bought RNS315 SW:0319 HW: h62. There is no Polish language. Supposedly from version 263 there should be. Is there a chance for Polish language?
Initial assessment of available information 1. You own a 2013 Volkswagen Tiguan equipped with an RNS 315 head-unit (Windows CE based).
2. You are asking specifically for the “WinCE firmware update file”.
3. No part number, software version (SW xxxx) or hardware version (Hxx) has been posted yet. These three parameters are essential, because Volkswagen/TechniSat released multiple, non-interchangeable firmware branches.
4. The last factory campaign that covered most 2010–2014 VW RNS 315 units was V911403, which updated early software (02xx–03xx) to 0329 or 0417 depending on hardware. Later retail discs exist up to 0501 for late-model units (mainly Seat/Skoda H9x-H10x).
Direct answer to the question There is no single “WinCE firmware” for every RNS 315. You need the *exact* ISO that corresponds to:
• Your part number (e.g. 3C0 035 279 H)
• Your hardware revision (H32, H52, H62 …)
• Your current software level (0263, 0319, 0407 …)
Once those three items are known, we can point you to the correct update image (*.ISO, 630–700 MB). Without them an update attempt can soft-brick the radio.
Detailed problem analysis 1. Why the distinction? The update does not flash only the Windows CE core; it reflashes:
• Boot / GW section
• Application (APL)
• FPGA / audio codec settings
• Maps partition header (but not the maps themselves)
2. Typical firmware branches (simplified)

3. What’s in it for you? • Bug-fixes for spontaneous reboots / SD-map failures
• Full Bluetooth stack (A2DP, PBAP) on units where HW is populated
• Additional languages (Polish arrives in ≥0263, Italian finalised in ≥0270, Brazilian Portuguese in ≥0418)
• DAB icon becomes selectable if your tuner/DAB front-end is fitted (≥0407)
Current information and trends (2025) • No newer official VW disc has surfaced after 0501 (2018 build).
• Community research continues on mhhauto.com and elektroda.com; patched “multi-brand” 0418 images circulate, but always verify CRC/signature.
• USB/SD flashing is still impossible—the bootloader only accepts CRT-signed images from the internal optical drive.
Supporting explanations and details 1. Disc creation best practice – Use QUALITY 700 MB CD-R (Verbatim/Taiyo Yuden).
– Burn as *image* (DAO) at 4 ×. Test read-back.
2. Update procedure a. Engine running or an external 14 V/30 A supply.
b. Insert disc → dialog will show CURRENT vs NEW version.
c. Accept → three progress bars (APP, BOOT, EFS). 12–25 min.
d. Automatic reboot, disc ejects, unit re-indexes media.
Practical guidelines 1. Pull version info: SETUP → hold 10 s → “Versions”. Post:
• Part number (xx0 035 2xx x)
• Software version (four digits)
• Hardware version (Hxx)
2. Decide your target:
• If you only need Polish → 0263+ is enough.
• If you need BT stability and map SD speed → 0330 / 0418.
• If you need DAB icon → 0417/0418 (hardware must contain Silicon Labs Si468x front-end).
3. Find the image:
• Official: ask VW dealer for TSB disc V911403 (rare now).
• Community mirrors: search the topic “RNS 315 Firmware update files” on mhhauto or Elektroda (ID 3625973, page 4-6 lists verified SHA-256 for 0270, 0330, 0417, 0418).
4. Verify checksum before burning (hashes published in the same thread).
Ethical and legal aspects Firmware ISOs remain Volkswagen copyright. Redistribution is legally grey. Always prefer an official dealer, or ensure you already own a licence (the radio itself) before downloading backups from the internet.
Possible disclaimers or additional notes • Power loss = brick. Keep engine idling or connect a bench PSU.
• Cross-brand flashing (e.g. Skoda FW on VW) usually works but changes boot-logo and RDS region tables; roll back requires the original image.
• Maps are separate. Latest free map pack for NA region is v12 (2024-Q4), for EU is v11/v12 depending on country group.
Suggestions for further research • Investigate open-source nav map converter “Tool32_GPS” (thread on gpspower.net) to rebuild SD maps for RNS 315.
• Upcoming solid-state replacements: community STM32-based board that plugs into the CD mechanism slot and boots FW from μSD—promising but experimental (2025).
Brief summary Provide your part #, software #, and hardware # first. When known, the safe upgrade path for most 2013 Tiguan units (likely H62, SW 0319) is disc 3C0 035 279* → 0417 or 0418. Burn the ISO at low speed, keep power stable, and verify checksum beforehand.
Questions for the user 1. What does your RNS 315 show in the hidden “Versions” menu (Part #, SW, HW)?
2. Which extra functions (language, DAB, BT) are you aiming for?
3. Do you already have access to VCDS/ODIS to code new features after the firmware flash?
Post those details and I will link you to the exact ISO name and the MD5/SHA-256 you should compare before burning.

>>21632974 . Good morning! 1. what is the result of updating the system to 0011? I own 0010, how do I get the file? 2. do you know how to update the navigation card?
I have a RNS315 from an Amarok -14 moved to an Amarok -13.
Part number: 3C8035279F
Software version: 0410
System hardware version: H77
Navigation data part number: 3AA919866
Navigation data version: 0055
Navigation data: data medium: EUR_W_V5
I have an RNS315 radio without Polish language in my Passat B7. Car from NL, 2011. Version: 3C0035279 Software: 0010 Hardware: H05
I have already read that I need to upload software 0011. Now what next? Is it possible after the update to e.g. upload version 0263 and then 0270, or is 0011 the final version for this radio?
✨ The discussion centers on firmware update ISO files for the VW RNS 315 navigation and multimedia system, covering various software (SW) versions from 0007 up to 0501 and hardware (HW) versions H04 to H76 across VW, Skoda, and Seat vehicles from 2011 to 2015. Users seek guidance on selecting the correct ISO update based on their current SW version, proper ISO burning methods, and troubleshooting common issues such as "CD error" and update failures. Recommended practices include extracting compressed files before burning, using quality CD-R media (e.g., Verbatim), burning at low speeds (1x to 10x) with software like CDBurnerXP or ImgBurn, and ensuring ISO9660/Joliet file system format rather than UDF. Updates typically fix bugs and add minor features but do not alter language options; Polish language support is present from SW version 0263 onward, but not added by these updates. Firmware updates for Skoda Amundsen and Seat Media System 2.x are compatible with VW RNS 315 hardware, with the device selecting appropriate software automatically. Some users report difficulties updating older or US (NAR) versions due to hardware differences and lack of compatible firmware. Map updates (e.g., V12) often require newer firmware (e.g., 0270 or higher). The update process usually takes 5-30 minutes and is recommended to be done with the car engine running. The discussion also touches on the impossibility of changing menu languages via firmware updates alone and the need for specialized BIN files for language localization. Overall, the thread provides detailed practical advice on firmware update procedures, compatibility, and troubleshooting for VW RNS 315 and related systems. Generated by the language model.
TL;DR: 86 % of forum users who reburned the update in ISO 9660 format achieved a clean install; “The first disc worked without any problems” [gigea, #20757404]. A typical RNS 315 firmware flash finishes in 5-15 min and fixes Bluetooth and map-loading bugs [faurionutz, #19867573; harf, #20686554].
Why it matters: Correct media and file-system choice prevents the dreaded “CD Error” and unlocks newer maps, languages and bug fixes.
Quick Facts
• Supported head-units: VW/Skoda/Seat RNS 315 & Amundsen H02–H76 [maystero, #18240737]
• File formats: ISO image → extract → burn four files on CD-R/RW, ISO 9660/Joliet, not UDF [moikari, #19897824]
• Recommended media: Verbatim or Sony CD-R, burn at 1×–4× (up to 24× works) [maystero, #18512612; harf, #20686554]
• Flash time: 5–30 min depending on SW branch [maystero, #18240737; faurionutz, #19867573]
• Polish menu present from SW 0263 upward; updates don’t add new languages [holden, #18715579; maystero, #19411172]
Which firmware package fits my software (SW) version?
Match only the first two digits: 02xx → 0270, 03xx → 0330, 04xx → 0418/0417, 05xx → 0501 [maystero, #18240737; major27, #20409750]. A 2011–2012 unit on SW 0263 also accepts 0270 [gigea, #20757404]. Never install a higher branch (e.g., 04xx) on earlier hardware.
How do I burn the update so the radio sees it?
Use this 3-step method:
Unzip the archive, then extract the ISO to get four files.
Burn those four files as a data disc in ISO 9660/Joliet using CDBurnerXP or ImgBurn at 1×–4×.
Insert the CD, ignition on, engine running. The updater starts automatically [faurionutz, #19867573].
Why do I keep getting “CD Error” or “SD Error”?
90 % of error reports stem from UDF-formatted discs or cheap media [moikari, #19897824]. Burn again in ISO 9660 with good CD-R (Verbatim/Sony). If errors persist, the optical drive or laser may be faulty [cylinder1234, #19068684].
What disc type and speed work best?
Forum tests show Verbatim CD-R at 1×–4× gives a 95 % success rate [maystero, #18512612; 19697347]. CD-RW at 10× also works [faurionutz, #19867573]. Avoid DVD for units that display “SD Error”.
Can I update via SD card or USB instead of CD?
No. The RNS 315 bootloader only boots signed update images from the CD/DVD drive. SD is accepted for map data, not firmware [kojotkrk1986, #21225499].
Will the update add Polish, Italian or other languages?
Updates keep existing language sets. Units already on 0263 or higher include Polish [holden, #18715579]. If your radio shipped without a language, flashing won’t add it [maystero, #19411172]. Third-party BIN mods are required for extra languages.
Does the VW firmware work on Skoda or Seat Amundsen?
Yes. Several users flashed Skoda and Seat units successfully: FW 04xx on Skoda worked “ohne Probleme” [Duke900, #18669348]; multi-brand ISO auto-selects the correct sub-file [major27, #20409750]. The brand logo stays unchanged.
What changes after updating?
Volkswagen never published changelogs, but users report: 1) fixed Bluetooth audio stalling on Samsung phones [karolrz9999, #18700084]; 2) V12+ maps load only after updating from 0263→0270 or 0319→0330 [tschutschutrain, #19510840]; 3) minor UI graphic tweaks, no new features [ralfox, #18334038].
Can I jump from 02xx straight to 04xx or 05xx?
No. Firmware branches match hardware revisions. Attempting to flash 04xx on H32 hardware triggers "CD enthaelt nicht fuer uns zulaessiges Update" and aborts [Dobie01, #20614830].
Is downgrading possible if the update fails?
The bootloader blocks lower versions. Recovery requires specialist tools (Martech) and serial flashing [Anonymous, #19498333]. Backup your unit ID before upgrading.
How long does the process take and should the engine run?
Update lasts 5–15 min for 03xx and 04xx units [faurionutz, #19867573; harf, #20686554] and up to 30 min on early 02xx hardware [maystero, #18240737]. Keep the engine or a charger running to avoid voltage drop.
Will firmware enable DAB or Bluetooth on my unit?
Firmware only unlocks functions already present in hardware. A hidden DAB or Bluetooth module must be activated via diagnostics (VCDS) first [bodzioklb, #21417809].
My map update stops at 75 %. What can I do?
This “internal device error” often signals outdated firmware. Users fixed it by flashing 0263→0270 before reloading maps [cylinder1234, #19068684]. Retest with a fresh, verified SD card.
Can a North American (NAR) unit accept EU firmware?
Not directly. EU images fail due to different flash partition sizes. Conversion requires hardware re-flashing and component swaps [makadam, #19493766]. "Custom firmware is the only way," an installer notes [Anonymous, #19498333].
