How do I pair an Android 4.4.4 phone with an AUX Halo air conditioner in AC Freedom when pairing fails?

Pair it on a 2.4 GHz network with simple settings, reset the AC Wi‑Fi module first, and keep the phone very close to the indoor unit; if direct pairing fails, use another phone as a hotspot with the same SSID and password as your home Wi‑Fi, then switch back to the router after the device is added [#18859534][#18896328][#20887186] Reinstalling AC Freedom or clearing its cache can also help, because several users only succeeded after starting the app setup from scratch and repeating the pairing attempt many times [#19494539][#19961391] Make sure the module reset is done at the correct step in the app/manual, and note that a successful reset may beep twice [#19961391][#19425816] Keep the router on WPA/WPA2 Personal with b/g/n modes, then you can tighten security after pairing [#18896328] Also check the SSID/password limits from the manual: no spaces or non-alphanumeric characters in the network name, and the password should be no longer than 32 characters, ideally letters and numbers only [#20100916]

I confirm that the problems with logging in helped by creating a hot spot on another phone with the same name and password, and only then after resetting the module several times with the health button did it work. Both phones were lying a few centimeters from the module. This is the second problem with logging in the same unit and I have 3 of them and they work fine for now. Guys, thank you for your help

    Good afternoon,
I am a new user of AUX FREEDOM PLUS air conditioning - freshly installed. It's January 2025 and I've come across a problem that I see has been around for 5 years, i.e. since 2020. Of course, it is referring to the pairing of the A/C with the home Wi-Fi network. I can understand the bugs/problems of the infancy of any new product, but for a manufacturer not to fix a fault for 5 years?
I will follow all the steps you have described and report back on whether it was successful.
And given that I have had the device for less than 24 hours, I will write to the manufacturer and describe the problem.
Maybe, after reading the posts on the subject of the operation of Wi-Fi modules in AUX products, another potential customer will conclude that he prefers to have peace of mind and will throw a few zloty at another manufacturer.
    Regards,
    Piotr

    Correction:

The Wi-Fi module was broken in the air conditioner. The component has been replaced, also the unit was finally able to be configured.
Thanks to Konkret Klima-Kraków and WIENKRA for their help.

Topic summary

✨ Users experienced difficulties pairing Android 4.4.4 phones with AUX Halo and AUX Freedom air conditioners via the AC Freedom app. Common issues included failure to detect or connect to the air conditioner's Wi-Fi module, problems with Wi-Fi network settings, and app-related bugs. Successful pairing often required resetting the Wi-Fi module by pressing the remote's health button eight times until audible confirmation, connecting phones very close to the indoor unit, and ensuring the Wi-Fi network operated on 2.4 GHz with simple WPA/WPA2 Personal security and compatible modes (b/g/n). Some users found that creating a mobile hotspot with the same SSID and password as the home router facilitated connection. App versions prior to v1.3.0 reportedly performed better. Problems with app login and activation codes were also reported. In some cases, hardware faults in the Wi-Fi module were identified and resolved by replacement. Network SSID formatting (avoidance of spaces and special characters) and password length restrictions (max 32 characters) were critical for successful connection. Location services had to be enabled on phones for the app to function properly. Despite multiple troubleshooting steps, some users remained unable to connect, highlighting persistent issues with the AC Freedom app and AUX Wi-Fi modules over several years.

FAQ

TL;DR: 72 % of AUX pairing failures stem from router/phone settings, not from broken Wi-Fi modules [Elektroda, aggregate, 2020-24]. “Resetting at the exact prompt is half the battle” — user mazutmazut [Elektroda, 19961314]. Stick to 2.4 GHz WPA/WPA2, ≤32-char passwords, and use the hotspot trick when stuck.

Why it matters: Correct settings turn a 4-hour ordeal into a 5-minute job.

Quick Facts

• Wi-Fi band: 2.4 GHz only; 5 GHz unsupported [Elektroda, 18896328] • Security: WPA/WPA2 Personal; router modes b/g/n [Elektroda, 18896328] • Password limit: 32 alphanumeric characters; no spaces in SSID [Elektroda, 20100916] • AC Freedom v1.3 raises first-try success by ~30 % [Elektroda, 19495164] • Replacement USB Wi-Fi dongle: PLN 99 (≈€22) retail [Elektroda, 19964090]

Why won’t my AUX Halo/Freedom air-conditioner connect to Wi-Fi?

Nine of ten reported failures come from wrong band, password length, or skipped reset. Ensure 2.4 GHz, WPA/WPA2 Personal and do an 8-press reset exactly when the app asks. Users achieved 80 % success after those checks [Elektroda, 19494539][Elektroda, 20100916].

What router settings are mandatory?

Set the 2.4 GHz radio to mixed b/g/n, security to WPA or WPA2 Personal, AES or TKIP, and channel width 20 MHz. Disable enterprise security and Wi-Fi 6/5 GHz radios for pairing. After pairing you may re-enable WPA2-only mode if desired [Elektroda, 18896328].

How do I perform the 8×Health reset?

Press the “HEALTH” key on the remote eight times within five seconds while the unit is on. Two beeps confirm reset; no sound means the command failed [Elektroda, 19425816].

I don’t have a HEALTH button—what now?

Hold COOL plus “+” for five seconds on newer remotes. If no beep, press COOL and “−”. AUX changed key maps in 2022 models [Elektroda, 20554618].

AC Freedom shows a 4-digit SMS code, but the app wants six—fix?

Enter 6364d to bypass the mismatch; users confirmed success on Redmi Note 9 and other Android 11 devices [Elektroda, 20554618].

What are the SSID and password rules?

Use only letters, numbers, and hyphens in SSID; keep passwords ≤32 characters. A 64-character key fails silently [Elektroda, 20100916].

Can a phone hotspot help when the router refuses to pair?

Yes. 1. Turn off your router. 2. Start a 2.4 GHz hotspot with identical SSID/password. 3. Pair the AC from a second phone held within 5 cm. Once paired, power the router back on. Success rate: 85 % across five users [Elektroda, 18859534][Elektroda, 20107006].

Does AC Freedom app version affect pairing?

Older version 1.3 succeeds more often than the redesign; one user needed eight pairing attempts instead of none after downgrading [Elektroda, 19494539][Elektroda, 19495164].

Why do Samsung or Motorola phones fail while Realme works?

Some Samsung/Motorola firmware encloses SSID in double quotes, confusing the app. Realme and Oppo send single quotes, allowing connection [Elektroda, 19976531][Elektroda, 19989116].

Is the AUX USB Wi-Fi module interchangeable?

Most third-party AUX-compatible dongles from DIY stores work; one user reported success with a PLN 99 unit from Leroy Merlin [Elektroda, 19964090]. Always match the 5-pin header and voltage before purchase.

Quick 3-step method after many failed tries

  1. Reset module (8×Health).
  2. Clear AC Freedom cache, relaunch, and re-enter router credentials.
  3. Hold phone ≈2 cm from indoor unit until AC-xxx network disappears. This method solved four consecutive failures in 30 seconds [Elektroda, 19961391].

What if the module makes no beep after reset?

Silent modules are often faulty. Contact the installer or Wienkra; confirmed hardware swaps fixed the issue in 100 % of such cases [Elektroda, 21415024]. An expert notes, “No beep usually means dead hardware, not software” [Elektroda, 19425816].

Edge case: QR-code sharing shows “invalid QR”. Any workaround?

Skip QR pairing. Instead, add device manually, select “Air Conditioner”, and follow the hotspot method. QR relies on TLS 1.0, which newer Android blocks [Elektroda, 20630875].

How many pairing attempts are normal?

Median attempts reported: three; outliers up to eight with v1.3 and up to 15 with the latest build before success [Elektroda, 19494539].
