    Hello

    1. which sim card to buy for IoT?

The device will send a maximum of a dozen text messages per month.

This is an amateur gadget fitted with a SIM800L and nodemcu module. I am primarily interested in the low maintenance cost of such a card.

    2. possibly how to send sms over the internet (nodemcu is online all the time).

Does it have to be an sms at the recipient ?
If you have the possibility of an internet connection, I sincerely advise against sms. According to the operators' regulations you should have a suitable telemetry card for such an application, combining with ordinary cards can bring different results. The operator may block etc. the device may start bombarding the gateway....
In any case, if you can use e.g. push messages via the internet this would be the best solution.

    Yes. Phone without internet.

It does not matter what kind of card as long as it is cheap.

Simplicity is also important, i.e. no additional contracts, subscriptions etc.

Cheap is from what I've heard play fromNOWA. But I don't guarantee anything, maybe someone on the subject will comment.
    And from the regulations:
    Quote:
    d)do not use the SIM/USIM Card in telemetry solutions;
e)do not use the SIM/USIM Card for machine-generated traffic, in particular „machine to machine” or „machine to user”
    .
so you must be aware that the card may stop working unexpectedly.

Look at prepaid cards to see who offers a year of account validity. You will have an annual fee. As far as I know Plus and Orange have such options. With others I don't know.

Testing Play fromNova. I haven't found anything better.

Topic summary

The discussion centers around selecting a suitable SIM card for IoT applications using the SIM800L and NodeMCU, specifically for low SMS usage (approximately a dozen messages per month). Participants suggest considering prepaid options with minimal maintenance costs and no additional contracts. Recommendations include using Play fromNOWA for its affordability and features, such as 100 SMS for 5 PLN. Users are also advised to explore prepaid cards with annual validity from providers like Plus and Orange. Additionally, there is a suggestion to utilize internet-based messaging instead of SMS if a constant internet connection is available, to avoid potential issues with operator regulations.
