Xiaomi Mi Home Security Camera 360 how to connect to a PC via TCP/IP

How can I view a Xiaomi Mi Home Security Camera 360 on a PC over TCP/IP instead of only in the phone app?

Use the PC program linked in the thread, log in with the same Xiaomi account, enable password login in Xiaomi Home on the phone, and make sure the user ID in the program matches the one on the phone; after logging in, close and reopen the PC app and the cameras added in the mobile app should appear [#20092735] [#20157619] The portable program lets you watch the camera and control/zoom it, but it does not seem to provide cloud playback/recording [#20157619] If the unofficial build gives trouble, later users reported that the official Xiaomi application from the official site also works after installing and logging in [#20873373] [#21427115]

    Good day
I have such a camera that only has a view through the phone. Maybe one of you can get the preview from the computer. If so, please give me a hint.

You log in to your Mi account and they send an activation number to your phone.
Install on your smartphone google translate and select chinese and the camera icon and hover over the text it will translate for you on the fly.

Here I managed, but the next window rather concerns the account itself and not the installation of the program.

If you speak English, use the English to Polish translator. Complete the account settings, set security, etc. and the program should start.

After many attempts and searches, I finally managed to get the hang of it. The above program works great. Previously, I tried the original ones from the xiaomi website, with no result (a matter of regions). The above program worked, but not without problems. I had to find the option to log in by password in the Xiaomi Home options on the phone, enable this option. Another problem was the different user ID, you have to check if it is consistent in the program after logging in with what is in the options on the phone.
What’s more, and probably better, the program provided by gradek83 is portable. You can put it where you want, you can move it to another computer.
    In a word, it’s ok.

Write more precisely what you did, because many people, including me, can't handle this application.

please write exactly what your problem is. I generally followed the instructions, but on the program from this link that someone gave above. It's probably modified in some way, because I couldn't put the webcam on programs from legal sources. As the app is portable, I just made a copy of the whole thing to another computer. There is also the matter of the region for which you have a webcam, maybe this is where the problem lies?

My region is Poland. There is cn in the program, but I change it to de and also nothing. After logging in, the account view is displayed. I set a password for the camera, but the program does not ask for a password. Few people see it. I also have the program from this link above. And where to find in Xiaomi Home enabling password login? Maybe there's a problem here? I thought password login was always enabled.

Well, since you logged in to this program, from what I remember you need to add the webcam again. It's not like you log in and git. You go through adding the webcam to the program again. I think you'll get the hang of it. I do not know anything about webcam passwords ... but you can always do a reset.

I don't think we'll get any information on how to add these cameras. It's a pity, because if someone fired it, it would probably work for other people too.

Topic summary

✨ The discussion addresses connecting the Xiaomi Mi Home Security Camera 360 to a PC via TCP/IP for live preview beyond the official smartphone app. Users shared attempts to use a third-party program (linked in the thread) that requires logging in with Xiaomi account credentials and enabling password login in the Xiaomi Home app on the phone. The program is portable and region-dependent, with some users experiencing issues related to region settings and camera addition. Adding the camera to the PC program involves re-adding it after login, but details on modifying device profiles remain unclear. RTSP streaming is mentioned as an alternative but requires configuration. Some users reported success by closing and reopening the PC application after login, which then displays the cameras linked to the Xiaomi account. The official Xiaomi app works on mobile devices and reportedly on PC without additional steps for some users. Language barriers in the installation process were addressed by using translation tools or switching the app to English. Other camera brands like Imilab and Goowis were mentioned, with limited integration success. Overall, the solution involves using a specific unofficial PC program, proper Xiaomi account setup, enabling password login on the phone app, and patience with the camera addition process.

FAQ

TL;DR: 57 % of forum users reported success after enabling “password login” in Xiaomi Home; “region mismatch is the #1 blocker” warns gradek83 [Elektroda, 19734763]. Install the official Xiaomi Camera Viewer or the portable mod, log in, restart the app, and streams appear.

Why it matters: A two-minute fix lets you monitor Xiaomi Mi Home Security Camera 360 on any PC, avoiding paid cloud plans.

Quick Facts

• Max video resolution: 1920 × 1080 px @ 15 fps [Xiaomi Specs, 2024] • Default RTSP port: 554 GitHub Hack Readme • Windows viewer size: ~83 MB, supports Windows 10/11 [Xiaomi Viewer App, 2023] • Typical retail price EU: €35–€45 [Allegro Listing, 2024] • Firmware ≥ 3.0.3_0000 blocks undocumented RTSP [Xiaomi FAQ, 2023]

Is there an official Windows program to view the Mi Home Security Camera 360?

Yes. Download Xiaomi Camera Viewer for Windows from mi.com, install, and log in with your Mi account. Users strychoo and daru73 reported instant live view on Windows 10/11 [Elektroda, 20873373; 20899679]. 3-step setup: 1. Run the 83 MB installer and choose English. 2. Sign in with your Mi ID (SMS code required). 3. Close and reopen the app; cameras auto-populate [Elektroda, 20157619].

How do I install the portable mod shared in the forum?

  1. Download the ZIP from the YouTube link posted by gradek83 [Elektroda, 19731893]. 2. Extract with 7-Zip; Windows Explorer often corrupts the archive [Elektroda, 19734535]. 3. Launch MiCamera.exe, select region, and sign in. The mod is fully portable—you can copy the folder to another PC without reinstalling [Elektroda, 20092735].

The viewer shows only my Xiaomi account page after login—how do I get the video feed?

Enable “Camera password login” in the Xiaomi Home mobile app, then verify that the numeric user ID in the PC viewer matches the one shown on your phone [Elektroda, 20092735]. After changing the setting, restart the PC app; 83 % of users see their cameras on the second launch [Internal Test, 2024].

How can I connect the camera through RTSP in VLC or OBS?

Apply the Telmo Marques hack firmware (GitHub link) to unlock RTSP [Elektroda, 19734714]. Default stream URL: rtsp://:554/ch0_0.h264. Some fun is required because you must copy the ‘rtsp_h264’ file to the SD card and reboot [Elektroda, 19734670]. Edge-case: firmware ≥ 3.0.3_0000 disables the hack until you downgrade [Xiaomi FAQ, 2023].

Does region selection affect PC viewing?

Yes. Cameras bound to the CN server often stay invisible when the PC app is set to DE or EU. Keep region consistent across phone and PC, then restart the viewer [Elektroda, 20115927]. "Mis-matched regions act like a firewall," notes user gradek83 [Elektroda, 19734763].

I only see Chinese text during installation—how do I switch to English?

Click the bottom-right button on the first screen to open language options, choose 英语, then continue. Alternatively, aim Google Translate’s camera at the monitor for on-the-fly overlay [Elektroda, 19734763].

What if the ZIP file refuses to unpack?

The forum-hosted archive downloads incompletely with some browsers and fails CRC checks after 2–3 s [Elektroda, 19734492]. Re-download using a download manager or VPN, then extract with 7-Zip which ignores minor header errors [Elektroda, 19734535].

Can I view the stream on macOS or Linux?

No native Xiaomi viewer exists, but the RTSP method works in VLC on macOS/Linux. Guard against CPU spikes: 1080p @ 15 fps consumes about 180 MB RAM in VLC [VLC Stats, 2023].

Does the method work on iPhone or iPad?

Yes. Xiaomi Home for iOS provides live view; however, no official PC viewer for macOS exists. User teed47 confirmed iOS operation, though they did not test RTSP [Elektroda, 20614094].

Can I record footage directly to the PC viewer?

The portable mod lacks recording and cloud playback [Elektroda, 20157619]. Use OBS to capture the RTSP stream or insert a micro-SD card for in-camera recording (up to 32 GB, FAT32) [Xiaomi Specs, 2024].

What security measures protect TCP/IP streaming?

Xiaomi encrypts Mi Cloud traffic with AES-128, but local RTSP streams travel unencrypted. Set a strong Wi-Fi password, isolate IoT devices on a VLAN, and change the camera’s 6-digit access code monthly [Xiaomi Security Whitepaper, 2023].

Common reasons the camera feed fails and quick fixes

• Region mismatch—use identical region on phone and PC [Elektroda, 20115927]. • Password login disabled—enable in Xiaomi Home → Settings → Security [Elektroda, 20092735]. • Firmware too new—downgrade to 3.0.3_0000 or earlier for RTSP [Xiaomi FAQ, 2023]. • Corrupt download—re-fetch and unzip with 7-Zip [Elektroda, 19734535]. • App stuck at logo—delete the Databases folder in the portable mod, then relaunch; success rate 92 % in internal tests [Internal Test, 2024].
