With my Arris, when I switch to open mode, I have to reset the modem several times and only after some (often the third / fourth time) it fires with the network name ARRIS-XXXX. Then the login details on the modem work. In general, the topic of open mode is interesting, because Vectra has been defending itself for a long time against giving access to modems to its clients. Unfortunately, in my case, the modem restarts itself every now and then, thus forgetting, for example, fixed IP addresses. You can see that they are still struggling with the topic and their approach is changing. In my opinion, it is worth playing with it from time to time to check how it works at the moment, but, for example, I like to return to the bridge mode and my own router, which gives me the certainty that suddenly the WiFi network will not disappear, because the modem must release reboot yourself.

@bill And how did you log in? Because today I turned on the OPEN mode and I can't log in with any login and password, but I haven't reset the modem yet and I don't know if it's worth it.

For me, the open mode causes both the Technicolor modem and the TV to lose signal every few minutes for about 10 seconds. Not only that, when I changed to router mode, I still had problems. Only the reset helped, because it probably remembered some data from the open mode. It is strange that the modem is on a cable other than the TV due to the fact that I have a CI card. Finally, I set the bridge mode and use my own router.

Hi. Gentlemen, help me. I have a Technicolor CGA4236 modem and I can't access it for anything. I already have the Open mode in the settings, but no admin/admin logins and passwords or those from the sticker work. I'm not very proficient in this, so I'm asking for a pathological instruction if and what I should do to get in. Thank you in advance!

You need to do a long modem reset. That is, press the "reset" button for at least 30 seconds, then wait until all the lights turn green. To be sure, turn the modem off and on again.

This way works for me every time. Modem access data as on the sticker underneath.

    Welcome
I have a TECHNICOLOR CGA4236 with full access - a small local operator.
    Any chance to use USB?
For a while I had two separate networks on 2.4 and 5.
Now I don't see this option. Reset needed?

Can anyone check if there is an 802.3AD option to enable in this modem? I am trying to run link aggregation on the Asus AX-86U router and unfortunately it does not work on the default modem settings from Vectra. I don't want to mess with the modem unnecessarily (OPEN mode is) if there is no such option to enable.

    Thank you

    Hi,
I also have a GCA4236 and I couldn't find any information about 802.3ad aggregation support.

Finally, I set GCA to bridge mode, and on my asus rt-ax82u router I launched dual wan. In the dual wan configuration, I set the load balancer to 1:1. In addition, I set the rules so that half of the network uses one wan and the other half uses the other wan. In bridge mode, I have two different public ip addresses and without rules, there were problems with sessions on pages (every operation is different / second ip), so the rule will divide the pool into devices connected with a cable and WiFi devices separately

Internet speed tests from the router show full use of 1.2Gb.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around accessing and configuring the Arris Vectra modem, specifically focusing on the challenges and solutions related to enabling bridge mode, utilizing Docsis 3.1, and managing WiFi 6 settings. Users share experiences with Vectra's recent introduction of an "open" mode for selected modems, allowing for greater configuration options. However, many report issues such as unstable connections, inability to separate WiFi bands, and loss of custom settings after reboots. Users suggest methods for accessing the modem's settings, including performing factory resets and using specific login credentials. The conversation highlights the balance between using the operator's modem and personal routers for optimal performance.
